Used 2009 Toyota Corolla S 4dr Sedan (1.8L 4cyl 5M) Consumer Reviews
Not perfect, but very good overall
I've had my 2010 S model for a year, and am very happy with it overall. First of all, the gas mileage is awesome. I have a 5 speed, and if the MPG monitor is right, I can get about 38-39 MPG on the highway. I average 35 on a whole tank of gas. The styling is great. Nice aggressive lowering of the front end, and the ground effects and spoiler make it look much better than the standard models. Interior is nice. There is a lot of plastic components. A few negatives, although minor. Could use back seat pockets. The fabric is loosely attached. One issue I've experienced with the radio is during cold weather, the volume knob will not work. The interior needs to warm up first.
Very Pleased
I could not be more satisfied with my Corolla. Sharp exterior looks and a decent interior. Not the highest end interior but not offensively cheap. The best part of the car has to be the excellent fuel economy. I average between 36-39MPG regularly. The the manual transmission, power is there when it is needed. Is the car a racer? No. But for good, reliable, economic transportation that you're not embarrassed to drive, the Corolla is your car.

Flawless
After having a 93 Corolla with 220,000 miles we happily purchased a 2010 S Corolla despite their current PR problem. We werent really in the market for a new car, but the financing incentive caused us to stand up and take notice. After reading the reviews, we did pay special attention to the steering during test drives and was unable to re-create the problem. In fact, we quite like the steering which seems perfectly weighted in all circumstances, if not over assisted when parking.
Love This Car
I've owned this car for 10 weeks and 4K miles. It was a big change from the Nissan Altima I've been driving for 10 years. Straight city driving gets 25-28mpg. Long road trips on the hwy get 33-38mpg. At 60mph, I get 38mpg: At 80mph, I get more like 33mpg. I notice the computer mileage shows about 2mpg higher than the figures I get the old fashioned way. I've stated the old-fashioned fill-up and calculate method. My husband is 6ft3in, and loves this car. He fits very well in the interior, and even the backseat isn't too bad. 2 children with booster seats fit nicely in the back. We love this sporty S model, much more so than we would have a standard model.
A Great Car
I have put 1200 miles on this car and I love it. I looked at several similar cars and it came down between the Corolla S and the Civic EX. I have driven a 95 EX for fifteen years and it has done an excellent job. Being 6 tall I need good legroom. I drove 3 new EXs, a very good car but who decided to put the park brake handle where my knee rest, this was unacceptable. The legroom Corolla S is fine the seats feel great. The mileage has been 36, 37 and 38 MPG, wished it was 48. I read that some did not like the electric steering, but I think it is fine. I also drive a Miata, the Corolla just goes where I point it and does not wander. Bought this 2010 at dealer invoice, no extra fees.
