Used 2009 Toyota Corolla LE 4dr Sedan (1.8L 4cyl 4A) Consumer Reviews
Superb reliability. It's a Toyota.
Just bought this car, used, in St. Petersburg, FL. Had 173,00 miles on it, but runs perfectly. One owner, very well maintained. Obviously kept out of the Florida sun, so the finish is still excellent. Overall fuel economy appears to be about 30 mpg. I have owned Toyotas and Lexus in the past, and reliability remains the outstanding feature. Didn't discover until after I purchased the car that it didn't have cruise control, otherwise no issues.

I hate what you do for me Toyota.
Sort and sweet. 3 recalls unsure if my car was ever safe to drive. An interior that constantly squeaks. Finally the last straw at 68k I'm told I need a new transmission because I'm getting a clicking noise whenever I take my foot of the gas they say its a broken tooth on the pinion drive gear..... There's your legendary reliability. I wonder how much pro reviewers get paid to praise these cars.
Just ok
I didn't exactly buy a Toyota for performance, but for a cheap car with great reliability. My car's been fairly reliable, at least compared to German cars, but i was disappointed that i've already had to replace the alternator and water pump at 60,000+ and 76,000 miles respectively. Another thing that bugs me is that the front seat is not comfortable and makes my back ache. If i have enough resources in the future, i would avoid buying a toyota corolla.

Driving like a champ at 173,000 miles!
After moving to the US I had no credit so I needed to buy a car for cash. I was looking for something around $5,000 and it was either newer subcompact Nissans and Chevys or this 2009 Corolla with almost 160,000 miles on it. I was hesitant but decided to risk it and it was worth it! In my nearly two years of ownership, I only had problem with coils, tire pressure system batteries went out, and I needed to replace the car battery. Altogether cheap fixes. I took the car to Oregon, Utah, Nevada and Arizona (I live in San Francisco). These things can easily go 300,000 miles it seems. Gas mileage is average in the city (around 24-25 mpg, though the SF hills and traffic definitely have a role in it!) but absolutely crushing it on the highway, easily getting 36 mpg. I also like the design quite a bit. Toyota usually makes super weird or ugly interiors, the one here is maybe a bit boring but elegant (and despite the mileage, all the materials look brand new). Would highly recommend this car!
