6 cyl makes it worth it
I test drove the 4cyl camry and couldn't do it, although the price was right, there just was not enough power and the engine felt and sounded strained. When I test drove the highly confident 6 cyl, XSE, the deal was done. Sure, it's costly, but the car has looks, comfort, decent steering (in sport mode), heft, cameras, and a fairly quiet interior under 65 miles per hour. Yes, it has issues, the dash squeaks and rattles like never before and the battery dies if it sits un-driven for 3 full days (3 times this has happened). Lucky for me I own a TackLife portable car jump starter, which I keep in the car... works like a champ in about 2 mins. Other than that, considering the features above with the refined V6 power, (I hate to say it but) I'm satisfied. Update 8/23/2023 - Car now has 19K miles and is still going strong. Although I haven't been putting a lot of mileage on it, I just put 4 new michelin tires on it and had the battery replaced by Toyota (84 month warranty). Battery replacement is a great value at Toyota (something like $225 installed). The dash still rattles, but I haven't had any other issues. All the electronics are working and the car still drives like a smooth big car. I'm still enjoying it and increased the overall rating from 3 to 4 stars. For non-BMW and Mercedes clients, this is a quality car for the money. The value factor is high. It still looks sporty and I plan to continue owning it for at least 3 more years. Absolutely no regrets. UPDATE: No complaints. Once I got the rattles out of the dash, its been smooth sailing. Having a 6 cylinder, the car is fast when I need it to be and smooth when just cruising. I literally have not had any issues with this vehicle. I had a flat tire, so I just put a new set of michelins on it and the camry is floating like a dream again. Also had toyota put a new battery in the car (it was time) and it was very inexpensive with either a 7 or 8 year warranty, it escapes me at the moment. I'm just loving this car now. The seats are still very comfortable with heat and ventilation and surprisingly the audio system is holding up very well, it still sounds fantastic! I was thinking of trading it in for a Tesla earlier, but for now I just don't believe that is the way to go since gas prices are so low here in Texas. My plan is to hold on to this beautiful, reliable car for at least another 3 years.
