MPG Not Even Close! Rip Off

Me and my wife don't even come close to getting the advertised MPG of 38hwy/ 43city. We get a range of MPG from as low as 28 to as high as 34.5. We don't drive fast and have even tried to drive as slow as possible to get the maximum MPG. The computer says we do great, 38, 36, 39 but when we fill up it is apparent the computer is wrong. Toyota corporate tells us there is nothing wrong with the car because the computer says we are close to the proper MPG. The proof is in how much you fill up at the pump, not what the computer says. We spent thousands extra for the hybrid model and we feel like we were duped. We will never buy another Toyota or Lexus again. Would not recommend! Update 03/29/17: So the car is still performing the same. Now with actual daily usage we haven't seen much of an increase or decrease. We are now getting around 30mpg and this is without "trying" to maximize fuel economy. The computer says we are getting around 34 on average. Once again demonstrating how inaccurate it is. Still extremely disappointed in both the Redlands, CA dealership and corporate for their lack of service in this matter. They never even looked at the car to see if anything was wrong with it. If your thinking about buying this car, make sure you don't get suckered in like us with the flashy MPG rating you will never get. And don't expect Toyota to take care of their customers when they have issues because it is quite clear they don't care once they get your money! Update Jan 2019, gave this car to my daughter so we could be a Tesla. Gas mileage is still the same and she is a very slow driver. Misleading at best by Toyota, i will never buy another Toyota!

Still love this car...continue to get great mileage, trouble free, low maintenance. Toyota certainly knows how to build cars!

Super great car. I’m getting 46mpg and 670 miles on a tank at time of writing which is insane considering it’s not the new Camry that gets 50+mpg. I had a 2012 Camry as my first car and having the 17 is like a dream for me. Easy steering, responsive braking, acceleration is there if you really need it, and I’m all about saving fuel because it means $$$$ saved. Toyota’s that are taken care of can go forever and this one is no exception. This car will last as long as the battery does. Not every hybrid can say that.
