small reoccurring problems that I feel should have been covered but weren't, the gas cap opener failed, repaired $400 and happened again, should have been covered, I felt the leather on drivers seat was breaking down and splitting, no real sign yet but I could feel it. the transmission slipped more and longer than it should have as with I often backed out on to a main road and had to wait as it slipped dangerously long before drive would work.

This is my first Subaru. I traded a 2011 Jetta Wagon TDI for it. I traded because I wanted an AWD for weather situations, and mountains. I knew it would have lower gas mileage. However, I was not expecting such a vast difference in fuel mileage. I am now angry almost daily, as I watch the gas meter drop before my eyes. I clearly have made a terrible mistake. The gas consumption of this car is disgusting. I want my TDI back (sad face). Well, it's a few years later now, and Edmunds asked me to add new thoughts to this review. I'm now used to the Outback. It's a good car. I feel safe in it. The TDI certainly had better mileage, and it was the most fun car I have ever owned.

I am original owner. My 3.6r limited is not fully loaded. It does not have eyesite, gps and sunroof. But that is exactly what I was looking for to reduce the price. I follow regular maintenance intervals. Recently replaced brake fluid an battery. Brakes still good. I replace engine and cabin air filters once a year. It has 45k miles on it. Average consumption is 24.8 mpg. I am thinking doing drain and fill cvt... need more info.... so many different opinions, and subaru is not clear on it as well. They extended warranty to 10y 100k. But I like to run all preventative procedures to keep the car as long as I am happy with it. Overal very good car for Colorado.

I had many disappointments with my 2015 Limited 3.6. First, either the dealer or factory screwed up and I received the wrong color interior. I did like the reasonable performance, that was a point in it's favor. But, things went down hill. I'm a shorter stature middle age guy without kids or spouse to haul. Some of us like a SUV just because of it's higher ride height. It was easy to get into, but, getting out, the wide door sills would always brush on the back of my legs. Not great when you're wearing nicer and/or light color pants. Then, the battery problems started. After three replacements, I dumped it because my confidence in Subaru was now shot. I was further disappointed with lack of cabin amenities: no ventilated seats, no memory settings with exit position, no power tilt/telescope steering wheel. The roof rack should be an option instead of a standard feature. Not all of us need them and it's quite unsightly and creates it's own noise. All in all, even after looking at a new 2020, I'm not coming back to Subaru.
