Great car for the price
I bought my 01' Sentra SE in '00 because I needed an affordable, reliable new car to get me to school and work. It has done exactly that. I have brought it in exclusively for oil changes and regular service to the dealership,+ a recall. I see people are complaining about the quality of paint, tires, rattles, etc. I personally have not had any of those problems yet, and my car has 49,350 miles, and still have the original, although balding tires. I would also advise to get a manual trans if you are not sure. I bought the auto because I commute in traffic a lot, but can not wait to get a stick car.
I Hate IT!
I spend more money on repairing it, and time fighting about the warranty then I could ever imagine. I would never buy another one. I am not sure I would ever buy another Nissan.
Good Sedan
I have the Sentra SE for more than a year. The engine is quite for its class. It is fun to drive with the regular SE suspension, not the Stage II. The highway cruise is great. The speakers and the subwoofer are good. It does have rattle and squeak, but it is not a big deal. The Bridgestone tires are awful. The Pirelli tires replacement make the ride much better. The steering is tight and precise. The ABS and 4-wheel disc brake are wonderful.
Pleased as can be
I got this car right before I left for college, brand new. It has been absolutely wonderful. I have had to take it in a couple times for minor, car particular problems (ie cruise control cover came off, driver's side window started acting crazy). I think it's a nice looking car and heads above the competition. We looked at Corollas as well and they aren't near the car the Sentra is. I love the interior; I think it doesn't look like the inside of a base, economical compact car.
exhaust problem
I bought my car in August of last year and I have already put 12,000 miles on it. Unfortunately, I have a terrible exhaust problem. From what I have been told by the service dept. at the dealership, it is a design flaw. My car smells like rotten eggs 85% of the time. From what I understand, the engines were built for low sulphur gasonline (primarily sold in CA.) and on other fuels (even high quality) the smell is unavoidable. It is really bothersome.
