Number three Mini
I am an old Euro man living in the States for the last 37 years. When I was in my 20s, I owned 1969 Mini, and that one would beat any BMW (1602,1802,2002) at the stop light. I was in love. Many years later, I owned 2006 Base model in California. It was a lot of fun, and it took me back in time. Never gave me any problems. I service all my vehicles (I own eleven of them...between trucks, quads, motorcycles, etc.), and "feed" them the best fluids/wearables money can buy. Recently I picked up 2018 Base Hardtop for my much younger wife. I had to drive it five hours to get it home. I realized how old I am! All the "computer stuff", Blueteeth (time for a visit to a dentist?)....etc. The fun is still there though. It made me feel young again, and it put a big smile on my face. Everything I remember about the Mini is still there, with a whole bunch of the unneeded "new age technology". I miss my "real" 1969 Mini. This one drives comparable to Porche 911. It corners extremely well (I had about 100 miles of a winding mountain road to cover), it's fast, and the manual transmission works well. I was "talking to it" all the way. Gear display demands that you upshift way too soon (around 2000 rpm), and the real power comes on with turbo (over 3500 rpm). It would tell me to upshift, and I would tell it no. I drove it like I was in my 20s again. I purchased it used (from the original owner that took good care of it) with 30K miles. Paid peanuts for it. No regrets. Wife loves it. "Happy wife - happy life".
Mini of Glencoe
Ric Tryce is an incredible sales man. He was so patient even though I was all over the place as far as not knowing what I really wanted to buy. I changed my opinion on the car color I wanted about 5 times and he always made sure that I would get the car that I wanted and the style of Mini that I wanted. If I ever need to buy a car again, I will go back to Ric as he made the process so easy and most of all pleasurable. I love that even though I changed my mind so many times he kept a very cool attitude and didn't send me somewhere else 🤪

Mini Amount Of Choices
The best thing about a Mini was the ability to make it your own — colors, wheels, options, etc. I was interested in a Mini Cooper 4-door hardtop. I wanted Electric Blue, with 16 inch wheels and no sunroof. For 2019 that means choosing a new trim called Classic. Unfortunately, it only comes in 4 colors (none of them blue), 15 inch wheels and no other individual options. If I wanted blue with my desired wheels I would have to spend $3000 more for the Premium trim that includes stuff I don’t want like the sunroof. What happened, Mini? A huge disappointment. I was ready to buy the car until I found this out. Now I’m looking elsewhere. Bummer.
