Low quality, lots of electronics and sensor issues

After a few kms the car started showing airbag and seat sensor warnings. Service said it was a faulty sensor and they had to replace the part. A few hundred kms after and with cold weather the Engine warning lights came on. Similar issues to others and service confirmed there is a software issue with the 12-V battery system. Their official written solution is to drive longer and warm up the car for 1 hour prior to driving, which is ridiculous itself. And no update on when they might release a software update. There are other sensor issues too. When backing up from my driveway, every once in a while it will apply a hard break automatically with an warning icon of an object close by, even though there is no objects close by, the driveway surface is flat with a slight decline and despite close range breaking is disabled. I was driving in snow on a highway once and the front camera and sensor were cover with snow so a warning popped up with a beeping sound saying camera view is reduced, which is all good but then it would disappear and beep again after 5 seconds non-stop. Why can't it just leave the warning on once and not beep every 5 seconds. The auto folding mirror when car is locked settings keep getting reset every 2-3 days. It was very annoying that it can't remember the setting and it would get reset every few days. The Android Auto keeps crashing. Sometimes it goes in a loop, I.e. crash, reconnect after 10 seconds, and then crash again after 10 seconds. The whole time the phone is connected to Bluetooth with the car and sometimes happens when it is connected by cable as well. Imagine you are trying to listen to music from your phone but it will crash, reconnect, listen for 10 seconds and then crash again. Even a non-luxury auto maker will have a better audio system where you can at least listen to a complete song from you phone with crashing. So now I'm stuck to listening radio only. A lot of quality issues with this car, which many 2023 owners will agree with. Mercedes knows they have quality issues with this model because they don't deny it and instead give a response saying these cars completely new tech so there will be some issues. Don't get me wrong Mercedes makes some really great luxury cars and every car will have some issue here and there but when basic things fail, sensor warnings going off, and frustrate you every time your drive then it's not a luxury car, and you would be better off buying something else. The 2023 GLC 300 model is not worth the money and headaches you will get. It only deserves 1 star for the ride comfort.

There are so many electronics on this vehicle! The sales team gave us the impression the xmserius radio was on the vehicle but when we got home we realized the only way to play it was through our phone. After a 5 hr drive on the road, the phone shut off from being hot so we had no xm radio until the phone cooled off. We have made repeated calls to NWArkansas MBenz to install the xm on our vehicle, but they will not return our calls. They got their sale and now ignore us. We hope the service department has better customer service. We bought this veh because after much research this was the safest vehicle on the road in our price range. We would have preferred another Denali it has all the bells and whistles and way more room, but the recalls and safety problems since 2020 on any Americans car is horrible. Hope this vehicle takes us through the next 15 like our Denali did. We give it 3 stars because it has less room than we are used to and being a long time subscriber to xm radio it would have been a deal breaker for us to not have it. So we are fighting to get it. Hubs is 6’4” and long trips are not comfortable as he initially thought it would. Hubs constantly complains about a 2023 veh only having AM/FM radio and no long comfortable ride. Who knows, maybe when GMC gets their act together we’ll get another DENALI. We never owned a “Luxury” vehicle before, so this has been a big disappointment.

Loud Rearview Camera

KentA, 05/14/2025

I have a 2024 GLC SUV. Note that the Coupe does not suffer from the following problem. The rearview camera is mechanical. It deploys when put in reverse (that’s fine) but also deploys when you slow below 14 mph. It then retracts at 22 mph. It makes a quite loud thunk when it does this and to me is beyond annoying. The camera in the 2025 is the same part number and behaves the same way. MB says this is by design so you know the camera is working. Pause and re read that last sentence. That should tell you all you need to know about MB quality these days. Spend some time in the GLC Owners Facebook page. That will also enlighten potential owners of all the myriad of issues with this vehicle. Caveat Emptor.
