Used 2003 Mercedes-Benz C-Class C240 Rwd 4dr Sedan (2.6L 6cyl 6M) Consumer Reviews
First Merdeces
I've always wanted this car and am not disappointed. It looks great in white. Have had it for three months and haven't had any problems with it. Makes my 30 minute freeway commute very comfortable. Accelerates well for passing and the ride is smooth and quiet. A few ergonomic issues with interior layout. After getting over the initial thrill of owning it I realize it's a starter-level luxury car, but it still makes me feel pretty fancy driving it. Love seeing the Mercedes star on the hood when I'm driving.
Never Again
The C240 is severely underpowered, and I experienced two serious electrical problems in a 9-month span. In hot weather (90+ degrees), the car struggled to even move from a dead stop, such as a traffic light. Once you got it moving, it wasn't bad. I've since stepped up to the C320, and the difference is phenomenal.

So far so good
While highly skeptical about quality/reliability when purchased for my wife, so far it has been almost flawless. No electrical problems. Cup holder replacement is it. Knock wood. She loves it, likes the size.

This dog dont run. a/c was so bad it took the dealer four tries to find the problem deep in the system. Defective windhsield water bottle caused the cooling system to report as bad. A defective valve set the car into LIMP Home mode. $2,000 repair under warranty. Mercedes does stand behind their warranty but has no sympathy or extra effort for putting you thru the gauntlet. We're on our fourth replacement key. I would not recommend that you get involved with them. Better off with a more dependable car than going through warranty hell and trying to deal with the anonymous zone guy who won't speak directly with you.
acceptable-?
i have had the car for 9 months and now have 7000 miles. i really like the solid feeling that this mercedes provides but i have had it in the shop 4-5 times already for a vibration in the steering wheel at 36mph.the dealer exchanged the oem continentals for michelins and have rebalanced the wheels 3 times...still have the vibration. i also had a spring in the emergency replaced for being too loose and now 2 of my window sometimes loose their one touch feature.i still like driving this car but i am not sure if i will buy another... great design but i am not sure about the execution.
