Well I finally bought a Benz- and I am not happy. It's ok and the All wheel drive has worked out -but I sure miss the performance of my 3 series BMW! As for the intriour the Beemer blows the Benz away- the C Class has leather "inserts" what a joke and the stereo is some no name - no match for the Harmon Kardon I had- and the engine- so sluggish I took it back in to the dealor - but is has no horsepower and even the E Class they loaned me could not compare to the BMW. I switched for the all wheel drive since we have been getting a lot of snow- but the gas mileage is very low.

This is my first Mercedes-Benz purchase. I really like driving my car and the service that was included in the initial factory warranty.

Fun to drive but problematic

Bought the 2003 C240 in August 2002 currently 5000 miles. It's now been in service 5 times but does not qualify as a Lemon. On the first day at home it leaked oil all over our driveway due to a defective seal. That was replaced. Then the rear screen lost a screw and it had to be dismantled. The power moonroof failed and a new motor was replaced. But the wrong motor was installed and it had to be replaced again. Now the break fluid is leaking due to another defective part. I love driving it but these problems are annoying. Will a major malfunction occur on the freeway with the whole family in the vehicle?

worth the money for an entry level MB. Driven 8,500 mi. w/ no problems. classic MB style. exhibits the attention to detail you expect from MB. very good performance if you understand you're buying small 4d sedan for status. this is not a sports car, so don't expect that kind of performance.

I've been pleased in general with my decision to purchase the C240. I love how the car handles and the smoothness of the ride. I would not be a second time buyer with Mercedes though. Had a terrible experience with Pete Mankins Mercedes in Texarkana, TX. Complained more than once to Mercedes Benz Corporation and have never received any response. Always that "independently owned" phrase from Mercedes Benz customer service. Never plan to purchase another Mercedes product due to the treatment from the company. Will stay with Honda from now on. Have owned 4 and will continue doing business with Honda.
