Fun Factor is excellent, but safety?
2nd Miata owned; 1st Speed version. Loved both, but there's no comparison. The Speed is one hot little car & a fun ride for both guys and gals who really enjoy driving! So much said about this car, but never on safety, so here's my pitch. Two serious accidents in the Speed; deer at 70 last year on dark KY interstate and wife T-boned yesterday (11/08/07) in Omaha. Belts, seats & cars agility saved us from more critical injuries both times although the car was totaled in yesterday's wreck. Walk away both times. No fear & am seeking Speed replacement as any other car we wouldn't have fared as well. Besides, it's a real kick for less bucks than anything comparable.

MazdaSpeed Zooming
The car handled tell with new all weather tires in high wind at 70 to 80 mph in torrential rain with whiteout conditions along side a semi, just had to put my foot into the pedal and say a little prayer.

Turbo Zoom-Zoom Fun
This is a true sports car. So don't look for cruise control or a comfy ride. The engine is super strong. The turbo doesn't kick in smooth. Watch your RPMs. The car goes faster than the gears allow, i.e., you hit the rev-limiter before hitting top speed. But this car isn't about how fast you can go. This car is about how much fun you can squeeze out of a car. On the fun scale, it scores 11 out of 10. Despite its many factory installed features, owners still need to add on after the fact to make it a complete ride.
Mazdaspeed
Even after owning a modified '94 M Edition, I had a smile on my face for about a half-hour after test driving the Mazdaspeed. The body stiffening and other extras make this a real blast to drive, especially on switchbacks.
