CX-7 a flop
The cx-7 is the worst front wheel drive vehicle I have ever owned. The standard equipment Turanza tires had to be replaced at first snowfall! It oversteers terribly and the check engine light has a mind of its own(No its not the gas cap, either)! Would not suggest to anyone living North of the Mason-Dixon!
Mazda is not helping!!
I've purchased my 07' mazda new, the last few months I've notice a noise coming from my car, my car was sounding loud, had it looked at and more than one person said they didnt hear anything,I have only 59,000 miles on my car. but I knew something was wrong. now come to find out its the VVT after it was inspected by Mazda dealers they also said my bad VVT has caused the timing chain to stretch, and I shouldnt be driving my car. BUT get this they're not going to fix it!! Not until I produce ALL my oil change receipt. Thats almost five years. I dont get it if they know the parts bad, then they should fix it. Plus what about the timing belt? I dont know what to do!!

thumbs up
Thus far I am very happy. Especially with the value for to price. A lot for little. Don't like turbo lag. Maybe the 6th gear was not needed? I am having some problems with the automatic jerking while it decides if it should change gears. I hope the dealer will adjust this.
Not worth it
Traded in a Mazda3 for this new CX-7. To begin with the car does have a cool look to it and got a few stares here and there. Here's the thing, Mazda recommends Super Unleaded to get the full potential of the turbo engine. My MPG after break-in averaged 19 mpg combined city/highway easy driving, which just plain stinks. It has a major turbo lag, for instance if you punch it from a dead stop it feels like you have a 2 cylinder car, then after 2-3 seconds it suddenly accelerates. New firmware for the car's computer did help a little, though. The car was fun to drive and a pain to get in and out of due to the door sills being way high. Traded this CX-7 after 8200 miles.
Like the CX-9!
Got the car at the beginning of the year, after trading in my 2004 Mazda 6 wagon - I loved that car! The CX-9 is great! Fun to drive, great interior - for the front occupants. I really like the lines and performance.
