2025 Mazda CX-50 Consumer Reviews

Awful car directly from 2016..
I considered buying this car as a second car and went to the dealer for a test drive. While the exterior looks good, that's about the only advantage of this car. The interior feels cheap and outdated, even in the top trim. All the buttons and small details look and feel low-quality. Whoever called this a luxury or refined interior must be comparing it to cars from the '90s. The acceleration is also terrible, and the engine is loud. I wouldn’t recommend buying this car—there are plenty of better options on the market.

Handles Like A Sports Sedan
My wife wanted a mid-size SUV for its' higher driving position and better safety features. I wanted one that is dependable and handled like a sports sedan. The Mazda CX-50 Turbo Premium satisfied both of us. The CX-50 is a beautiful vehicle. It is a longer and lower profile than most SUV's. Cargo space is somewhat compromised, but for the two of us, it's plenty. Mazda is famous for its' innovative engines, and this one is no different. The 2.5 liter engine produces an exceptional 320 lb-ft of torque. The result is brisk acceleration, enough for any passing situation. It also has a pleasing sound (for a four cylinder). There is no perceptible turbo lag and the all-wheel drive system delivers a balanced front to rear traction. There is no torque steer, even on hard acceleration. The suspension is taught. Body lean is negligible. It is easy to toss this car around. Steering is very accurate and is nicely weighted. It is the best electric system that I have tried. The six-speed transmission may seem old school, but it shifts smoothly and always seems to be in the right gear. The interior is very plush. High quality materials abound, including stitched leather on the dash. I haven't seen this on any $40 thousand car. The front seats are a bit small; fine for my wife and I because we are smaller in stature. Six footers should consider the CX-70. They are also a bit firm and there is a seam down the middle that can interfere with your sitting position. This is the only significant flaw that I can find on this car. However, we seem to be getting used to it. During a recent 700 mile trip, no one complained. Wind noise is negligible, and there are no squeaks or rattles. I appreciate the traditional switchgear over a touchscreen for most functions. Touchscreen works only on Apple or Android car play. I like the instrument layout as well. Nice round gages and an analog look. Technology seems up to date. The car has a camera, radar, and electronic sensors. Voice recognition is accurate. If I veer out of my lane, it will let me know. Adaptive cruise control works well and is very linear in its' operation. The hands-free driving feature works as intended, but is useless technology in my opinion. I believe the CX-50 Turbo Premium is the value winner, when compared to luxury brands like the Acura RDX and Lexus NX. I hope my review assists you in your new car search.

A True Drivers car
First most people agree that in this category it is the sharpest looking vehicle in its class. The interior also is a cut above. The Turbo has great acceleration, the regular engine is adequate fairly average. The driving dynamics are on par with a BMW. Wonderful steering, handling. It is a reliable vehicle. The negatives are the seat can be a bit firm and the ride is firm but that firm ride is a positive towards a great feel of the road ,which makes it enjoyable to drive. The stock radio is terrible. All of the safety features are great.I've experienced no problems.

Upscale SUV at reasonable price
My new CX 50 exceeds expectations. While not a luxury vehicle Mazda created an upscale SUV, which looks good, drives well, and provides a lot of amenities for a very reasonable price compared to other vehicles in that class.
