Transmission failed at 61k

I really love this car. The handling, the 6 speed, the design. But losing a transmission at 61k is completely unacceptable.

From a 2017 Ford Edge to a 2018 Mazda 6

I totaled my ford edge and while its capabilities for an accident were amazing I couldn't get myself to purchase another after the accident. I chose a Mazda 6 touring for many reasons mainly because I have the same trunk space as my ford edge and the interior room is almost the same (the distance from front to back seat was the only difference). All newer cars have a sluggish response when comparing it to old school push the throttle and go cars. I have had the 2017 edge, a 2014 dodge dart both of which are worse in the speed in which they shift. The only thing that I lost moving from the edge to the 6 is a little leg room in the back seat and awd. Things I gained were sunroof, leather seats, heated seats, dual climate control, active cruise control, lane departure assist, and apple car play. The 2.0l twin turbo in the edge has far less get up and go than the mazda 6. The only thing I have been able to find that I dislike with the mazda is that the radar for active cruise control picks up vehicles in lanes other than what I am traveling in when maneuvering around corners. Things I recommend are the bumper to bumper warranty extension since everything contains electronics.

Update about paint

My car is "Soul Crystal Red". The original paint flaked excessively under conditions that should not have flaked at all. I reported the issue to Mazda, and with some patience worked through their warranty system. I am happy to report that they repainted my car under warranty - the only cost to me was driving my car to the dealer. It is now both beautiful and functional. I test drove some Accords (hybrid and not), Civics, Subarus (but not the Legacy) and the Mazda 3. Like most people I suppose, I selected my car based on its value to me for the price. I had been driving a Scion xB for years, and while a great, basic car in my respects, it is almost lawn mower loud. The 6 is quiet, really quiet. The Accord is quicker, but I found the tire noise irksome, I did not like its ride as much, and the interior wasn't as nice. My 6 is quick enough for anything I do, and it is a pleasure to drive. I'm serious, I just enjoy driving it. I look forward to getting in my car, and driving my mostly highway commute. I decided I didn't need the price/performance hit for the 4wd Subaru, mostly because I already own an Outback, and I really can't justify something like the WRX. I understand that some do not like the infotainment controls, but I really like them. I feel they are safer than a touch screen, and I don't leave fingerprints where I can see them. I'm tall with pretty broad shoulders, so my arms go around water bottles in the center console to the controls very comfortably. The voice commands work really well, too (especially compared to in my old lawn mower, er Scion). I only found two drawbacks. The side water bottle holders are not cup holders. No big deal for me, but perhaps for you. And, my wife is tiny and finds the seats too stiff. If she puts a cushion down, the car disbelieves her presence, and her airbag is off.

2018 Mazda 6 turbo

The car is a semi Luxury car. It has a sporty yet comfortable ride. Steering is crisp although not a good as my 2009 Maxima. Acceleration is very good on 93 octane and good on 87. It will not do 0-60 in under 6 seconds though but it will do it in about 6.2. The car corners extremely flat due to the Vectoring control that Mazda built into the car. A couple of things that I dont like are that the mirrors dont have a memory function with the seats. Also, the heated steering wheel is only heated at the 10 and 2 position and 4 and 8. The top of the wheel is not heated. My only other annoyance is the fact that the rear view mirror is too close to the driver.
