Used 2006 Lexus RX 400h Consumer Reviews
1 month ownership
Purchased this car late June 06 and immediately took it on a trip. We started with 43 miles on the car and drove from Florida to the N.C. mountains. We averaged 26.3 mpg on the highway with the a/c on. In the mountains we averaged 24.6. Back in Florida, we are averaging 28.8 around town with the a/c on. It has surpassed my expectations. We traded an 04 330 awd on this vehicle and we do notice quite and improvement. Nice job Lexus!
Another Great Lexus
Our 7th Lexus. I just got the car a week ago and I'm getting about 25 mpg. Someone said that they've seen returns of 26 mpg w/hard driving but I'm not seeing that. It's louder (the acoustic glass helps only so much) but it's a hoot to drive. CONS: Inability to navigate or dial the phone while on the move. Really, my passenger could perform these distracting tasks. Lexus should trust their consumers more. (ACURA does!) Also, the higher insurance costs will offset any gas mileage or resale benefit even for someone with an impecable insurance risk profile. FINALLY: This isn't a car for the altruistic it's for those who want their cake and eat it and their neighbor's too ;)

RX 400h
The vehicle performs well is comfortable but the mileage is not near the numbers that Lexus indicates. We get about 22 miles per gallon overall (we have not checked highway verses city but drive city about 60% of the time). Also, they should provide the wood interior as an option as only the silver was available so we had to pay for wood trim to be added (Lexus installed an aftermarket wood kit).
This RX 400h is great!
I really like the vehicle, it's got a really smooth ride, and very quiet running, in both gas and electric modes. I traded in my 2003 RX 330, and the 400h gets about 5 mpg better fuel economy than my 330. There is a lot more passing power in this RX 400h than the 330 had, it sort of lagged at times but the 400h has instant power.
Incredible Car (even ignoring the MPG)
This car has a certain aspect of guilty pleasure. It is looks beautiful, is incredibly designed, has amazing pick up and performance, and is one of the most advanced technology infrastructures that I have seen. Then you get to that fact that I don't feel guilty at all, it is a hybrid, gets mileage of around 30 MPG, and has incredibly low emmisions. I am still trying to figure out what the rub is.
