I have experienced total comfort and excellent MPR. This is such a quiet vehicle. A total joy to own. The hybrid experience is about knowing you are doing your small part to help the enviroment.

Decided to trade in our 2001 RX 300 Silversport for the RX 400h when price of gasoline skyrocketed. The first 5000 miles has been a fairly pleasant and uneventful experience getting a decent 26 MPG on mixed highway and city driving (compared to 19-20 MPG on the RX 300). I find myself constantly playing the game of trying to maximize the efficiency and in the process developed a lighter right foot to allow the car to "glide" more (CVT is gearless so no downshifts like the conventional transmission when you let go of the accelerator). The car slows down mainly from the force of friction between the road and tires. Hate to admit it, but the car has trained me to become a better driver.

We purchased our hybrid on 5/2/05 (ordered it last May). We absolutely love it. The interior is very modern - at first wasn't sure if I would like it - but I love it now. We also have 2 tv's for the kids - one on each headrest. We have navigation in our other Lexus so we had to have it again (it was actually a standard). There is a button on the steering wheel for voice operation - it does everything you ask it to - its a lot of fun. I mainly do all highway driving and average 25 mpg (great for a SUV)

Lexus Hybrid Gas Economy Fails Badly

I waited patiently almost 11 months to get my new Lexus RX400h hybrid SUV, knowing that the new vehicle would live up to it's hybrid hype. After all, this is Lexus, and as a previous owner of several of their products, I fully expected that not only would I be driving a technological car-of-the- future, it would be comfortable, luxurious, attractive and environmentally friendly. The increased fuel economy of hybrid technology would be an added bonus. I had gotten 20 mpg with my RX300, so the expected 29+ mpg of the 400h was going to be cool. Woops, something went wrong along the way. My hybrid only gets 21 mpg. Not 25, not 30, not even close. More $$, less mpg. What's wrong with this picture?

Not what I expected for gas mileage

I purchased this vehicle to get lower gas mileage and enjoy Bluetooth phone tech. I am disappointed with both. I get 24.2 mpg and interupted phone service. I paid $10,000 too much for this vehicle.
