"Downgraded" to an LS 430 but best upgrade ever!

I traded in an almost new Lexus GX470 for a 2005 Lexus Ls 430 and it was one of the best decisions I've made! The LS430 is truly head and shoulders above the GX (albeit a different category of vehicle altogether). I've owned various lexus models (GX, SC, ES), but this is my favorite yet. The quality and comfort of this vehicle is amazing. I'm disappointed that Lexus has lost a lot of the quality over the past few years. I was considering a new LS, but honestly the quality of the new model isn't the same (even if it has a number of advanced features to offset the difference in quality). I looked for the best condition LS43s0 I could find and ended up finding one that looked brand new inside and out with only 26k miles and one owner. Money wasn't a factor in trading in the GX (I just never could get myself to love it), but walking away with $20k+ as part of the trade in was definitely nice. I'm even considering looking for and buying another equally well kept LS430 to store to replace this one when it's seen more use. However, knowing about the legendary reliability of this car, that may not happen anytime soon. If you are thinking about buying one, don't hesitate. Cars just aren't produced like this anymore.

Awesome Ride

I've purchased my 2005 LS 430 with 48,000 and it is now at 167,000. In that time I had no issues until this past year (needed a new alternator $390 and the thermastat was old and it damage the radiator hose $700). Since those issues were fixed the car rides like its brand new. I read a few other reviews and noticed when a car is serviced by lexus only, the car has major issues. Dealerships are similar to printer companies (HP, Epson etc.) lexus make there money from the service portion just like printers make there money from the ink sales. Lexus are professionals in getting you to return with an issue and will charge you 3 to 4 times the money! Stay away from dealerships and find a good local mechanic that will treat you with respect!

2005 used Lexus LS 430 personal experience

Hello: I never thought I would ever desire to join the community of car review writers, but I feel really driven to do it. I am just a common guy that have always loved cars since I was a child and this was transmitted to me by my dear father. Without knowing all the details of the engineering of a vehicle, I am able to feel and recognize what an excellent vehicle is when I drive it through different road surfaces, hilly roads with curves, holes, bumps, etc. I like to feel how fast the vehicle accelerates, how it breaks down to zero from high speeds, how it corners, etc. How smooth it goes over holes and bumps without feeling annoying jumping in my seat and without hearing noises inside specially at the dashboard that really bothers me. In December 2020 I purchased a 2005 Lexus LS 430 with 137,000 plus original miles. There was a leak from the valves gaskets and also from the lines of the transmission and power steering; the later two very mild. I took the car to the Lexus dealer and fixed those problems. Thanks God the car doesn’t have any other problems and is in excellent condition. I purchased the vehicle after I tested it the way I mentioned above. I compared this car with newer Lexus models, a 2018 BMW 5 series, a 2017 Cadillac. It is amazing how this old car runs, performs, how comfortable is, how silent(although not perfectly quiet) the cabin is. This is our first Lexus and honestly I will not change it for any Lexus newer model or any other car and invested money in repairs mentioned. I may keep on writing about the excellent qualities of this old car but I will just finish saying that the experience of driving or being a passenger in this old 2005 Lexus LS 430 car is much better than the one obtain from our 2017 Toyota Sienna XLE . This is a follow up of my first review of my 2005 Lexus LS430 owner experience. Today is September 29th,2021 and I purchased my Lexus in January 8th, 2021 with 137,000 plus original miles and just one previous owner. Now it has 149,753 miles because I have traveled to different states and I really like the experience of driving it around. Since I purchased the vehicle I expended money correcting leaks in the transmission, power steering fluid lines. Also there was a leak from the engine valves gasket that was as corrected and incredibly from the engine oil check deep stick . All these repairs costed thousands of dollars at the Lexus dealership but all the leaks where corrected with original parts. I also noticed that the vehicle seemed to be “floating “ at high speeds on the highway. I the shock absorbers were checked and the front ones weren’t leaking and were after market. The rear shocks were original and one was leaking. I decided to replace all four with Lexus original shock absorbers. The “floating” sensation disappeared and not only that happened. The cornering, braking and the way the car steering feels is much stiffer and it feels like a safer vehicle. I know that I have expended thousands of dollars in an old vehicle but let me tell you that has been worth the expense. Every time I take the car to the Lexus dealership they provide me with a “loaner” vehicle which have just few miles in the odometer. This cars because they are”modern” they have many electronic improvements, they are faster, etc. But, my old car is more comfortable inside and the ride is much better in terms of suspension. The newer ones are “stiffer” because they have a “sporty” suspension. When I purchased the car my wife reminded me that I will expend money because the car was old. I can tell you that now she loves the car and says that is the most comfortable of the house including her 2017 Sienna LXE that only has 20,000 miles and is “sleeping” in our garage. Considering that it is a V8 it is very fuel efficient specially if you don’t push the gas pedal to overdrive frequently. In general it has been a wonderful experience to purchase this 2005 Lexus LS430. I can only imagine how wonderful would have been to purchase it new in 2004 or 2005.

Just bought a used 05' LS 430 (55k miles), tremendous condition and certified through Lexus (3yr/100k bumper to bumper warranty). Wow! what a car! Previously owned a Porsche. Different types of vehicles, but the LS is an overall winner. 24- 26 mpg on the highway, tons of space, baby seat in back and front passenger can still stretch out. Quiet, powerful, smooth as silk ride. An 05' LS more reliable than most brand new vehicles. Major head turner. Would highly recommend one.
