Cumbersome beast
I drove a 2014 Land Cruiser for a few days, that thing left a mark on me! Very tough feeling, almost hydraulic-like steering, raucous V8. Had no idea Toyota could make such a “macho” SUV. Recently learned of the legend of the Land Cruiser so I had to re-visit it again. I decided to try the GX460. Still very much a heavy beast, but the steering is gone, so soft & I don’t feel the road at all, a lot of play. Cornering is top heavy. V8 is very “uninsulated” under the hood, standing outside the car it’s like a factory! 3rd row seat is electronic folding only & can break eventually. Rear window hinge prone to rain corrosion. Bolts & screws rust easily. Inside is very refined true, but overall it’s a giant rust bucket. Rather get the Tahoe. (Fix that rear windows hinge corrosion, how did it happen honestly?).

I previously owned a GX 470 but decided to sell it and custom order a Premium GX 460 with every available option. Purchasing my GX on 4/29 with the software update, I couldn't be happier with my SUV choice. The fit and finish are exceptional, and the GX impresses with its quietness. Having also driven an LS 460, I find the sound system in the GX to be very similar. During a long-distance trip to LA and back, I achieved 22.5 mpg round trip at an average speed of 68 miles per hour. The radar cruise control performs excellently, and the HID headlights are superb. If you're seeking a world-class SUV with top-notch features and comfort, look no further than the GX 460.

Love my GX460
We have owned our 2012 gx460 since 2014 and overall its been a great SUV. We have taken it on many long road trips and have taken it off road on the beach and it has never left us disappointed. The V8 and 6 speed automatic are smooth and provide enough power for most occasions. There have been times driving in the mountains where it could have used some more power however most of the time its good enough. Fuel economy is what's to be expected from a truck. I usually average about 14mpg around town and 18mpg on the highway. The ride is very smooth and quiet for a truck based SUV. The interior is nicely appointed and the front seats are very comfortable. However, the rear seats do lack thigh support so it can become a little uncomfortable on long trips. My biggest complaints are the third row space and the lack of charging ports. The third row is very tight and the space behind it is almost nonexistent. The reliability has been excellent and we have only had to replace normal wear and tear parts throughout the past 10 years and 120k miles. Overall I love my GX460 it's been one of the best cars I've ever owned.
