2014 Cherokee Latitude

This vehicle has never been one that we have enjoyed. The lease was expensive as the car had a residual of around 52% after 36 months. My son was anxious to get the car, so we reluctantly did so. Bad move. The car has been taken to the dealership quite a few times with problems, besides the 7 or more company recalls. The vehicle has always "lunged/jerk" when you initially press on the pedal. The dealership has never been able to fix this. The recalls get fixed late as the Jeep is always out of the parts to fix these recalls. I would never suggest to anyone to buy this car. I am grateful I leased it and happy to turn it in shortly.

This is our 5th Jeep. It had 2 recalls. Never has stranded or failed us in the 34,000 miles we have had it. The transmission at first was a little off, every time we had an oil change our dealer would check it and update. Each time it got better and works fine. We had a sunroof rattle at 21,000 miles. It was fixed under warranty same day. We have a FWD version with the 2.4 4 cyl. It gets great mileage as our metro area is dense and in traffic all of the time. We get 22 in the city in our traffic impressive, it has been on a few long road trips it averages 32. The Cherokee very comfortable has a nicer interior than most of its class. The leather quality is better than our BMW 328i! Update: We are now over 43,000 miles no other issues. Transmission is smooth, shifts perfectly, would buy another hands down. Update: now at 53,000 miles tires were replaced. Transmission has been updated. Still runs well and very happy with this vehicle. Update : at 67,000 miles, still runs great. No other issues other than normal maintenance.

Yeah...But No

Was so excited to get my new Jeep Cherokee. One month in, the car started shuddering heavily and pulling as I was driving down the road. The dashboard looked like a NASA lunar launch mission it was so lit up. Then the damn thing just...stopped. In traffic. Had it towed to the dealer. They couldn't find anything. Same thing happens again a couple of weeks later. Same result. A month later, I get locked inside the car. Yes--inside. Can't open the doors, the windows, nothing. Tow comes (3 hours, thank you Jeep Roadside Assistance), and again "nothing." Then the car started vibrating and shaking. Now the diagnosis was "transmission problems." Each time, the service took longer and longer, and it never got fixed. Each time = 5 times. And through all of this, I had to deal with the abysmal service through Chrysler Customer Care and their dealers, who are surly and condescending. Imagine calling for a service problem with a safety issue and being told that they have an appointment 9 days away. Yup--that happened. At first, I thought this was an isolated instance: my car was just a bad car. But after I did a little investigation, I discovered that these issues were known Jeep issues, especially the shaking and the transmission problems. Do yourself a favor and stay away. 2016 Update: unloaded this POS in July. It had 4 recalls in one year. Couldn't be happier with my new Lexus. 'Nuff said.

Latitude V6 - Very Nice

Purchased a 2014 Latitude V6 with the 8.4A screen, added the Nav upgrade and the 9 speaker/sub/amp option. Also splurged for the V6. This was purchased for my teenage daughter, so when shopping for a small/mid SUV, coolness was definitely at the top of the list. This was the only SUV that she liked and we looked at the Escape, CRV, Rogue, Rav4, CX-5. In her eyes, none of them matched the design or styling that appealed to my teenager. I was a little disappointed that the only way to get a rearview camera, garage door buttons and a n auto-dimming rearview mirror was to upgrade to a $2000 package. I remember when these were standard features on a mid-level trim vehicle.

I purchased this vehicle a couple weeks back and I already have near 2000 miles on the vehicle. This past week I drove it to West Virginia from Georgia. Three adults and a fully packed cab, I still managed to get around 30 to 31 mpg on the highway. Handled exceptionally well in snow and dry land. Jeep did a great job with the interior design not to mention the comfort. The stitching seems high quality as well as everything about the vehicle. I have the factory base sound system and it seems to sound just as good as the upgraded speakers. The center console display is very easy to manage and is well placed. I am very pleased with the overall performance of the vehicle. Highly recommend it.
