Awesome Jaguar XJRsport
This is a big, extremely good looking, very comfortable, excellent handling, luxury, sedan. I've owned it two years, and nothing has broken. All of the electronic toys are a bit much, but it seems that most people want this crap these days. This car is so much superior to my previous Mercedes CLS 550 that there is just no comparison, and it is trouble free, unlike my CLS, that had many returns to the dealer. I now have two Jaguars, no more Benz for me.

My third Jaguar, but my first XJ
I cross shopped all the major cars in the class, wanted a luxurious car with a definite performance edge. Decided Maserati Ghibli was too much an unknown and its interior wasn't up to snuff. The S Class was superb but too large and too expensive. The BMW 7 series needs updating, it looks and felt like a bloated 3 Series. Audi's are boring. I've been very happy with my decision. Its fast, but very comfortable on long road trips. Although large, it drives small. Quality is outstanding and attention to detail, make it one of the best interiors for any amount of money. Gas milage has been amazingly good for such a large car. This is where the all aluminum construction pays off. Update: Traded this car for a sports SUV. Needed more cargo carrying capacity. Having some regrets. The XJ was perhaps the most luxurious and prestigious car I've owned. Inside you felt special with that Jaguar interior. It was quiet and fast on the road, reliable and returned 32mpg on the highway while cruising at 80mph. I didn't buy another Jaguar because I don't like the interior of the F-Pace when compared to other premium SUVs, it felt un-Jaguar.

Jaguar XJL portfolio, awesome car
After you buy one you will not want to drive anything but a Jaguar. I have owned many fine cars but the Jag is so comfortable, quiet, plush, and powerful, it makes my Lincolns, and Mercedes pale by comparison, and the Jag costs less than the my Benz. Since purchase in 2013, nothing has broken. For required service the dealer picks up my car and leaves me a new Jag to use and delivers my car back to me. On trips the Jag delivers 30 mpg ! Where ever I go people look at it and comment how good it looks. Back seat passengers are in awe of the space. I am about to buy another one. I dislike only one thing, the engine shuts off at stop lights etc and restarts when you take your foot off the brake, very stupid idea, thank goodness there is an "eco" button to disable it. I LIKED THIS CAR SO MUCH I TRADED IT FOR A NEW ONE. THE NEW ONE HAS A FEW MORE FEATURES AND IS OF THE SAME SUPERB QUALITY, TROUBLE FREE FOR THE LAST 4 THOUSAND MILES. BUT I STILL HATE THE AUTOMATIC SHUTOFF, RE START IDIOTIC IDEA, THANK GOODNESS IT CAN BE SHUT OFF WITH THE "ECO" BUTTON. AWESOME CAR! As of 5/30/19, the 2016 car has 20,000 miles on it, not one problem, what a great car to drive, I still hate the auto shut off when I stop, if I forget to hit the"eco" button off. This car is head and shoulders nicer than my 550 Benz was, and so much more reliable.

Love this car
I purchased this car as a demo/used vehicle directly from a dealer. The price was great and the luxury of the car is unsurpassed versus it's direct competition: Lexus, Mercedes and BMW. I have owned all 3 and will choose the Jaguar again.

Welcome to my gentleman's stage of life
I've owned performance oriented cars of all stripes. This is my first tilt into the luxury side of the equation. I've had two previous Jaguars and loved them, being fast, comfortable and beautiful. I like the fact that these cars stand apart from the German crowd. They offer color choices and interior choices unlike the German boredom. BTW I've owned several German cars too.
SEXY...COMFORT...POWER...ECONOMY...GORGEOUS
This is the most underrated Luxury car out there. The experts seem to be biased due to ancient history. When it comes to the essentials of a SPORTY LUXURY CAR, the XJ JAGUAR! Powerful, quick, comfortable ECONOMICAL. I GET 35 Miles per gallon on highway and about 25 to 30 around town. If you want to accelerate quickly you’ve got it. People comment all the time about this beautiful it is. I’ve owned LS Lexus, Mercedes S class, bmw. In certain features each is superior. But overall this has best of the best for exterior, interior beauty with economical powerful performance.

A pleasure to see and drive
My "Italian Racing Red" auto has been flawless the past 3 yrs with only normal maintenance required. I purchased in Feb 2015 with 15,000 miles on odometer. I have taken meticulous care of this car. If I see or hear any issue, I schedule an appt with my Jaguar dealer. My first year of ownership saw issues with the steering, water pump, electrical and a few other items. All covered under warranty. After all the bugs were shaken out during my first year, I have total confidence that the car is in excellent shape and I am very happy with my purchase. I drove from LI, NY out to Arizona (spent a few months there) and drove back without any issue. Real world MPG going to AZ was 30.5mpg. I now have 48,200 miles on the car and it is out of the "Jaguar Certified" period. In my opinion, you always want a Jaguar dealer to work on the XJ. It was explained that a special set of tools is required for the XJ and that other Jaguar model tools will not work with the XJ. Oil changes, tires and parts are expensive, however the service interval is every 10,000 miles. You are riding in a car that is head turning, comfortable and a pleasure to drive. Update Dec 2019: I have 53,400 miles at this point and out of CPO warranty. The only none-maintenance type item; had my check engine light; needed a oxygen sensor installed by Jag dealer ($700). Still very happy. Update June 2020: Only replaced rear tires (first time) and the auto is running great without any issue(s)! Update December 2021 current mileage 58,000 I was reimbursed 100% by Jaguar for the oxygen sensor replaced earlier and was given a 15 year/150,000mile extended warranty (Jaguar initiative) on all my oxygen sensors. I had a Manifold coolant leak repaired by Jaguar ($1900) & also replaced the front tires (first time) and I had battery replaced by Jaguar (first time; old battery was ok I just wanted it changed because it was over 8 years old), All else is solidly good! Still very happy.

Best value for $$$
UPDATE: This is still my favorite of all the cars I've owned. It is rock solid and quiet at cruise speeds, corners superbly, and is very reliable. Inept dealer service has been the only drawback - having to return to the dealer 4 times to reset the service indicator warning. Simply the best car I've owned. After many Mercedes, I grew tired of their mundane interiors, and lately their Rube Goldberg exterior styling. The interior is measureably more luxurious and inviting than any Mercedes we've owned. The doors close with a solid "thunk"' reflecting the quality. Instrumentation is straightforward, and the audio quality is far beyond anything we've heard from Mercedes. Despite the negative reviews of the audio/navigation system, we've found this system much more user friendly, and programs easier than Mercedes clunky system.

The exceptional Jaguar XJL
It is a big comfortable car. It is beautiful to look at and to drive. You will get noticed in this car! If you are looking for a fine automobile, you cannot go wrong with the Jaguar XJL.

Superb. Good enough for the Queen
The XJL is a big car, with a relatively small trunk - meaning that the space is use by the interior. The rear seats (heated, and cooled as standard, with massage and electronic recline options) are a lovely place to spend a lot of time, and feel opulent and spacious. There are no clamors for 'shotgun' with this car as the rear is just as comfortable as the front. The driver's seat is also a fine place to be - heated, cooled, massage, infinitely adjustable - I can sit there for an 8 hour drive and get out feeling cool, calm and collected. I have the 470HP V8. It is smooth as silk, goes like a rocket, and roars like a Jaguar. I have driven the V6 and find it adequate. Its also coarse to the V8 refined (but some people do prefer the rasp to the roar). I have found with my driving style there is little between the fuel economy as the V6 has to work harder in acceleration, the V8 returns 30mpg on the highway at 70-75 mph because it doesn't have to do anything other than tick over. And if you are spending $100k on a new car do you care about a few bucks a month on fuel?Its way more distinctive, graceful, and good to drive and look at than the BMW 7 or Mercedes S. I'm not familiar with the Audi A8, but for me the only competitor in this segment is the Maserati Quatraport. The Jaguar of old had reliability problems - mine has never been in the shop except for service and note that some years have 5 years free maintenance and 5 years of bumper to bumper warranty which is transferable, making this a ridiculously good value as 2 or 3 year old used car. The navigation, voice recognition and some of the othe technology feels clunky and can be irritating - why make a fabulous car and then tie it up to AT&T for connectivity? (for those who don't know, AT&T has one of the lowest customer satisfaction levels of any US company). The car is excellent and I can't score it less than 5 stars just because it has a complicated navigation system and obsolete 3G AT&T WiFi hotspot! The ride can be transformed to be EVEN SMOOTHER with 18 inch wheels by the way.

PROPS FOR THE 2014 XJR
I've owned approximately 175 cars, including a few prior Jaguars. I've always loved their styling, but previous models always required too much maintenace. My 2014 XJR is well sorted. After 32000 miles, just tires, oil, and one door moulding. The car is exceptionally comfortable for a tall, big man. Handling is great for a car this size. There is a very slight vibration felt through the steering wheel even after alignment, new tires and wheel balancing, but it very slight. Build quality and materials are superior. Love the car. I'm obviously a frequent trader, but I'm having trouble finding reasons not to keep the Jag. This may be my favorite car of all time. Relatively uncommon, stylish, smooth, and when you put your foot in it, it's off to the races. Navigation is fine, but I use Google maps most often, which is more up to date.

Beautiful, fast, comfortable
Beautiful, fast, comfortable. Every day gains a compliment. This is without a doubt the best car I have owned in 60 years. The only cons are software is slow and confusing and the trunk is small for such a big car. The Bluetooth is great.

Great car till......
A lot of car (CPO from a dealer) for the money- loved it till 90 days after warranty expired.. dead on side of freeway with sounds and steam that should never come from a automobile! Dead at 95,000 miles.... our other cars: Mercedes E320 still running strong at 325,000..... Nissan Versa No issues at 145,000..... currently Jaguar in shop while I wait for the heart-attack inducing repair bill UPDATE: new engine required! (Sarcastic ‘Yippee’).. since replacement- have had to replace plastic- amazingly poor designed- leaking again- SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL- coolant pipes 3 times.. in the shop where it is being replaced, there are 3 Jaguars ALL WITH THE SAME PROBLEM..

Mercedes S550 vs Jaguar XJL
I have had the fortune of owning both a Mercedes S550 and Jaguar Supercharged XJL. I loved both cars but the jaguar has held my attention and interest much longer. It has the IT-factor for me. Fast ,Luxurious and Beautiful
I have owned my 2014 XJR LWB for a year and I love it ! Jags have always built the most beautiful sedans and the new XJR makes its German competition look like the tanks (with go faster wheels) they really are . The power and handling of this luxury sedan has to be experienced to be believed . It easily compares to top performing sports cars but with the discomfort . Drive one you'll see !
Style, Grace and Pace
After one year and 10,000 miles I remain in awe of how good this automobile is. As perfect a compromise between luxury and performance, grace and pace, as I have ever found. My wife and I fight each other for the keys. So sad that it’s out of production as people continue to move away from sedans and into top-heavy, poor handling SUV’s. The clincher for me was a 2-day sojourn along paved forest service roads winding through the Cascade mountains in southwestern Washington. I apologize to all of the Subarus I surprised while taking 30 mph hairpins at 60 and suddenly winding up on their bumpers. I sympathize with the guy in the Audi S4 who managed to keep up for a few miles before falling behind. My previous Cadillac V-series would have easily defeated the XJ on a race track, but at 80% the Jag is the superior automobile. All while the driver listens to Hayden’s Music for Royal Fireworks, wind noise is a whisper, and the drivetrain runs smooth as a turbine. When not being driven like Jeff Gordon trying to relive his glory days, the XJ delivers safe and luxurious motoring. My closest substantial experience is with a 2017 MB 550 CLS and the Jag wins hands down. The MB feels ponderous, is over-powered, and has too many technology gee-gaws getting in the way of actual driving. The Jag is more connected to the road and seems more concerned with comfort than in impressing the driver with buttons. Skip the V-8. The V-6 has more than enough power. I have an FIA competition license, have driven some crazy fast stuff and trust me, 340 hp is all you need. In mixed driving including substantial inner city commuting we’re seeing about 2 MPG better than the EPA rating. We’ve seen 30 MPG during steady 70 MPH highway cruising. Reliability wise, so far the only niggle has been a piece of rear door trim that kept popping off until the dealer finally farmed the fix out to an upholstery shop. There have been a few technical/software hiccups that were not really break downs but artifacts of software choices forced by the fact that a distracted driver might exit the car thinking it is turned off when actually it is in fuel-saving auto shutoff mode and only seems to be. Thus, when you’re sitting in line for a toll both or at a drive-though and the engine has shut off to save fuel, if you unbuckle your seat belt to get your wallet the software decides the driver is about to leave the car, shuts everything down, and puts the transmission into park. Opps. If you measure your car by whether it sports the latest technology and how well it interfaces with your iPhone, you might look elsewhere. My Jag lacks the “technology package,” so there’s no adaptive cruise control or other “self driving” capability. I don’t miss it. You might. The 835 watt Meridian stereo’s sound is just short of superb, one of the rare factory stereos that I don’t want to immediately rip out and replace (I.e., everything by Bose), but it lacks HD radio and CarPlay. There’s an attempt at app integration with a proprietary Jaguar system, but it’s half-baked and I stopped using it after a few disappointing attempts. The touch screen menu is very responsive—much easier to work with than systems I’ve tried from MB, Audi and Volvo—and the layout is logical. But there isn’t much tech to play with, at least compared to others. On the plus side, the built-in navigation works well and can be linked to the web using your phone’s wireless hot spot. It saved me once on a mountain road when Google Maps got confused but the on-board system knew exactly where I was and where I needed to go. The seats are comfortable for hours and, unlike so many other cars these days, can be set so the headrests are not forcing your head unnaturally forward. Space wise, the XJ shows some compromises borne from the fact that its British, which means it needs to navigate narrower roads. It’s not as wide as you’d think (helpful is some parking spots) but this means less trunk space and shoulder room. The trunk also has an annoying ridge toward the back, apparently to squeeze a couple more gallons into the gas tank, and there’s no pass through to the interior. So on a long trip it should be fine for 3 full sized people, or 2 adults and 2 young kids, but would start feeling cramped after that. Bottom line: If your looking for style, grace and pace this car delivers. Every day. If you don’t really like driving that much and are more interested in playing with your phone and watching movies while pretending to drive, look elsewhere.

Infotainment is outdated and unreliable
I have now had my 2016 XJL Potfolio for 1 year. I love the looks of the car and it’s driving performance and luxury. However the infotainment system is years behind Merecedes, Audi, and BMW. I had an Audi A8L prior to this and this is a step backwards as far as the electronics. The worst part is that The Bluetooth and hands free system have never worked properly since day 1 and are completely unreliable and dealer had not been able to get it resolved. Also my ability to get it to play my music from my phone is equally unreliable. Just way too many electronic glitches with this car. Getting assistance from Jaguar and the dealer has also been a big hassle. I am going to take a hit and get ride of this car in the next few months, tired of the glitches and their inability to get it resolved. As a whole I have been very disappointed with my experience and the quality of the car and Jaguar’s service. I would not recommend getting this car unless you have lots of patience.

Sensors unreliable
I purchased my dreamI bought car the end of August. The check fuel cap light came on about 3 times before I reported it. Maintenance assured me that I was the culprit. Then the check engine light came on in November. Took to shop Dec 7, replaced gas cap. Since then, it comes on about everyday. The information screen went black yesterday. Scheduled back to shop Jan 3, 2018. Wish I could get my $90,000 back and by another luxury full size sedan. I love the design and comfort but electronics spoils my experience. Great fuel economy for luxury car.

British Racing Green junkie
I have owned this 2016 XJ for 10 months. It drives like a sports car and has great fuel economy. I think their may be more practical luxury sedans out there but none any better looking. I love this car and I was a little nervous about buying a Jaguar because of poor press on older models. I've owned Mercedes, Cadillacs and even Corvettes. This is my favorite car ever so far!

Thinks it's a Prius
We have gotten as high as 36 miles per gallon without the air on at 75 miles an hour. Around Tucson City driving it gets 28 miles per gallon. This is our first Jaguar and definitely not the last. Dealership services vantastic. We just can't believe the gas mileage this thing gets. I have a 2018 golf r and it can't touch it never get over 30.I have never taken this car out that somebody didn't comment on how beautiful it was. I've owned my golf r for a year and no one has ever asked me about it.I'm 72 and spent 50 years in the car business and this is undoubtedly the nicest machine I've ever driven. The other nice thing is you never see other ones. I see s class Mercedes , BMW 7 series all the time. Best automobile purchase I've ever made.

Big Blue Beast
Always thought I'd wind up with a Mercedes-Benz or Lexus. Looked at E-Class Mercedes and Lexus ES and GS. Found the Mercedes interior disappointing. Sitting in both Lexus models was like sitting inside a computer: soulless and cold. No personality or warmth at all. Sitting in my AWD XJ is like being in a leather chair in an English gentleman's club. Plenty of power, excellent handling. Design and build quality both superb. A bigger car than I actually wanted, but, when we sat in it, my wife and I just looked at each other and knew we'd found our car.
Complicated!
I have had this car for about a month. It looks great and it gets compliments from total strangers. It is fun to drive if you are just driving on a highway. Good value for the price I am paying. However the car is quite long and I have trouble parking it. The park assist is helpful but can not be relied on totally. The car has quite a few glitches, I believe in its computer. It takes about a minute for the computer to boot up, almost like a PC and not like my Mac Book Air, for comparison. The Park assist is difficult understand. Is it on all the time or does it require manual turn on? However the main issue we have is with the AC. It does not cool as well as the Lexus SUV we are used to. Also the AC sensors may be at times having difficulty figuring out what to do. Even when we turn the temp dial up to 80 to stop the high speed of the fan (in AUTO mode )it keeps going. The navigation etc and other tech features will take some time to get used to, unless you are familiar with jaguar. I am probably half way through, that too with the essentials. Over all it has been a good experience and my brother who drove it a thousand miles to bring it to us enjoyed the drive and did not feel tired, even from the long trip. I may ahve to take it back to my summer home since parking space in the winter place is a tight fit, needing quite a bit of careful maneuvering. Since I do not have to be in a hurry any more that is ok!

Infotainment Flaws, Horrible Customer Service
This is the most comfortable and beautiful car I've ever owned but the Infotainment system is horribly unreliable.. It cannot index an ipod to save its life, repeats songs, and all kinds of odd behaviors. Clock resets to military time for no reason, choosing a particular playlist delivers another, sensors randomly turn off, super disappointing. The Meridian Sound can't be beat but the reliability of the infotainment system is horrible and so frustrating that it wrecks the rest of the experience of owning the car. In shop constantly for firmware upgrades which only fix the problems for a week or two. (If I lived next door to dealer I would have the memory flashed weekly). $80,000 is too much to to pay to put up with the daily frustration of driving this car. And the snitty, slow service at Jaguar of Marin doesn't help... Such a disappointment.

Love my XJR
I sold my Porsche Panamera and finally settled on a 2016 XJR. It feels lighter and more nimble than the Porsche. I cant really compare power, as they were not similarly classed. C/D got the big cat 0-60 in 3.8. I take advantage of the power often, and it is beyond impressive. At the same time, it regularly returns 33-34mpg on the highway. It turns heads everywhere, and no one, even the most car guy of car guys have no idea what it is. Super comfortable on the inside and it doesnt ride harshly, even when in dynamic and sport modes. Ill likely get the final model when Ive driven this one long enough. No reliability problems, but the occasional glitch in the infotainment, which is always corrected on the next start.

Over all this vehicle is great. Siiting in luxury
My 2014 XJR long wheel base, is an amazing car. places the driver and occupants in comfort and performance. First taking the car for a ride I decided to floor it. This vehicle came to life like a true perormance car. Glued me to the back of the seat and roared like a lion. The interior is absolutly beautiful and fits around me like a glove. I have owned several luxury vehicles and I love this one the best...Great purchase with a great price.

You will need to win the lottery to trade this car
Our XJ is horrible in rain our snow. Yes it is AWD. If you wear eyeglasses and get the heated windshield you may not be able to drive at night. Google Jaguar glare. Tried to get a different car after three months and 2400 miles and was told the car was worth $30,000 less than what we paid. Glad it's a lease, can't wait to get out of it.

I Had a 2005 XJ8L
if you're looking for the distinction of the 2005 - 2008 XJL models, forget it. I had a 2005, all black, interior and exterior, tinted window XJ8L. I owned "her, 'Betsy' " for 10.5 years, 117,300 miles (purchased at 23,000+ miles, coming off of a 2 year lease at purchase). Until the day my wife "totaled her" while "Betsy" was parked (11/2017), I received compliments on that car EVERY WEEK! State Farm insurance gave me a very nice close out, totaled figure, for the car. I picked up this 2014 XJL AWD Portfolio, Rhodium Silver, at 21,826 miles, with all the bells and whistles of the AWD "Portfolio," panoramic roof and all to replace "Betsy." Yet the class and distinction of my 2005 is missing (let alone the "Leaper" hood ornament.) I didn't want the newly styled Jaguar XJ from the "git go." But at the end of the day, other vehicles which I could afford, lacked the distinction of the Jaguar XJ. No real complaints except the distinction and seeming classy appearance of the earlier model XJs is missing. In addition, it also seems the mileage is not as good.

great car that looks luxurious
I've had my 2016 XJ for close to a yr. No problems. It rides good, looks good and makes me look good. It's a little thirsty thru the city on gas but the ride makes up for that. I usually drive my truck anyway. I love the look. If you are looking to buy one, I suggest getting it from a personal owner or certified dealer w low miles. I bought mine w 21k mi. and it rides and looks new.
Bought brand new now w 40,000 miles
I bought the XJ w the 6 cylinder in 2017. Going on 40,000 miles. Meticulous maintenance well before service recommendation. No problems or Issues. Excellent so far
Lucky to be alive
I've had since Dec 2003('s done 50,000 miles and has been one careful driver - me- and sevice and checked by Jag dealer regularly. On Wed 13th November 2013 I was driving on a dual carriageway at 60mph when the car suddenly accelerated. I thought the cruise control was on and braked to cancel it, but the car just kept going faster. I tried switching to manual and forcing it into lowest gear with no effect, pumping brake and engaging the hand brake , but the car just kept going faster and I was rapidly approaching other vehicles. So I moved into the fast lane, which was clear, but then two cars pulled out in front of me to overtake a lorry. At 90mph I hit themand am lucky to be alive

Expensive but worth it
Just payed $ 3,746.37 to fix a coolant leak repair and not with Jaguar dealer which would probably be twice as much. Regardless , I love every second driving it. The Meridian sound system is the best. Very spacious. I get a lot of compliments from a lot of people . Bought it 3 years old with 27,000 miles for $44,000.
