Used 1998 Isuzu Rodeo Consumer Reviews
I love mine!
I got this Rodeo after having owned a '93 Rodeo. I am planning on buying another one! I love it, I lived in Ohio and went to college in Tennessee and my Rodeo got me through dozens of long trips over the years and remained solid. I love the toughness of the vehicle and the ability to keep running. I maintained the truck with oil changes, belts, tires, etc. I have had a few minor problems, one fan went out that cost me $200, and I have a small coolant leak right now, but what do you expect at 160k miles! I have put nearly 100k miles on the Rodeo since purchasing it, and feel I have more then got my money's worth. My husband and I call it "Old Faithful"!
The Plague of 1998
I leased my 98 Rodeo for 3 years and then bought vehicle at the end of the lease. From the beginning I had nothing but problems including having the brakes worked on 8 times in 3 years. Just after warranty, I spent about $1500 more on the brakes and they still were not right. Also had fuel injectors go out that costed about $500. And had to have the bracket holding the rear spare taken off to remove the tire. Nothing good to say about vehicle except it does look good.

98 Izuzu Rodeo
I had a '94 rodeo prior to purchasing this vehicle used in '99. The '94 rodeo had a few mechanical problems and rode somewhat rough. The '98 rodeo has been a very good vehicle, virtually no problems. It rides fairly good for a truck/suv, and has been on many long distance trips (1000+ miles per trip).
I'll never buy another Isuzu!
In a nutshell, capable on and off-road but a real maintenance nightmare. Have replaced a/c 3 times, horn/airbag unit twice, alternator, generator, battery cable, water pump, EGR valve and seal, purge valve solenoid, intake gasket, rear wiper motor, rear door lock 3 times, rear passenger door lock, right rear ABS sensor, plus a dozen factory recall items. I'm now a rental car expert.
LOVE MY RODEO
We bought our Rodeo as a third vehicle for our growing family. Although the Rodeo does not have as much room as our minivan it's much sportier, handles better and the overall experience we enjoy with it is satisfying. I use to sell Rodeo's a few years ago and felt great everytime I went on a test drive with it's new owner. Our Rodeo has 68000 miles on it and the only problem I could begin to discuss is the paint issue. The overall rating more than makes up for the paint issue in my mind. Highly recommended by my family.
