From 2003 to 2006

This is my fourth Hyundai, and my third TIBURON. I was unhappy with my previous dealership's service manager. When I took my 2003 model to my new dealer for routine service, I saw a 2006 on the lot, took it for a test drive, and fell in love. It's loaded with bells and whistles. Its handling is great for city and interstate driving. I can transport bulky items in my trunk, and the rear seat is available for small friends and/or my dog. It draws favorable comments from other drivers and parking valets. I'm trying to limit my response to strangers who compliment the car to "thank you" and not feel obliged to tell them how little it cost!

This car is so fun to drive. This car has enough power for me even in the 4 cyl version. The only problem I have is condensation that forms on the rear window when the defrost is on and the defrost takes a while to clear the windows, but other than that I LOVE LOVE LOVE this car.

I'm very happy with my purchase. I'm not really a "car" guy, I see it mostly as transportation nothing else. When I saw this car I loved the look immediatly and the GT Limited leater interior is great looking. Performance wise it's all I could want and need. Gas mileage isn't as good as many smaller cars but I knew that going in. Friends will always tell you it's a nice car, but strangers come up to me commenting on what a great looking car it is and I can see it gets a lot of attention when I'm going down the road. Great color (electric red) with a great design makes this car look at feel as good as the mor expensive sports cars. I love it.

I got sick of making repairs for my last vehicle, so I bit the bullit and bought new. I'm glad I did. The Tiburon caught me by surprise with quality and style for the money (not to mention warrantee). I've only had the car for a week, but it has a very comfortable ride, a hot looking interior with red stitched leather wheel and seats, and a great stereo. The 5 speed shifts nicely and the clutch is pretty forgiving. Since it's a hatchback there is a ton of room for storage for a pretty small car, another big positive. The only things I could wish for are a standard 6 speed manual, a couple more horses under the hood or better gas mileage from the 2.7l v6 (rated at 19/26)

I wanted a change from the SUV I was driving. This car is comfortable, fast and fun to drive. I can park it in any parking spot and the standard warranty is great, roadside assistance is also included. Can't ask for more. The style and look of the car is also fabulous. The minute I sat in it I was in love. I was actually in the market for an eclipse or a mustang but the tiburon capatured me even after I had test driven the other two cars.

This is my first car purchase. I am not a street racer but I wanted a smaller car, definately a two door, and it had to look cool. This is the smoothest ride of any car I have ever been in. When I do 80 it feels like I am doing 40 (which landed me a ticket unfortunately). The limited edition is well worth it. The leather is very classy and the sound system rules. I wouldn't reccomend this car for a racer as the horse power is a bit below par of other cars like the eclipse. But this car destroys the scion Tc, anyday. If you're a person looking for a cool 2 door ride that is affordable, this is the way to go for sure. I cannot reccomend this car enough.

I love this car. I was in the market for a mazda and they wouldn't come down on the price so i went and test drove my tibby and fell in love. To get a car with power windows and locks and all for $18000 u can't beat that. I was looking for something sporty that i could fix up performancewise and make my own and it is really easy to do that with this car.

The car handles well. It compares to a 1988 300Z that I bought new. The GS that I bought has only the 2.0 4cyl, but is spunky enough to be a blast. I decided to cut costs by getting the small engine at lower initial cost and better fuel mileage. I do not regret that decision

I drive this car A LOT and I really love it. My daughter frequently "borrows" it, so she must think it's pretty cool too. I really like the way it looks inside and out and I LOVE the feel of the seats. The seats are so comfortable, they feel like they are just molded to your body. I love the way the hood is sculpted and the look of the instrumentation at night. I spend a lot of time in the car, I don't notice a lot of road noise or bumps. Very smooth and quiet.

I love this car, as I loved its predecessors. However, like my 2001 Elantra GT, the information from the onboard computer is virtually illegible during daytime operation. It's fine at night. It does help if I remove my polarized transitional glasses, but my basic feeling is that should not be necessary. My only other suggestion would be to add an exterior release to the hatch as on most hatchbacks. This year, HYUNDAI eliminated the wiper/washer for the rear window , an aesthetic improvement with minimal reduction in functionality. Perhaps the savings could have been used to add an exterior manual release for the hatch!

I've had this car for four weeks and I've had so much fun with it. So far I've racked up about 3,700 miles with it and I have to say I'm definitely satisfied. When buying my car, I considered the Civic Si, Scion tC, Acura RSX, Mitsubishi Eclipse, Corolla Type S, and of course the Hyundai Tiburon. It was so typical to think "eww, korean car", but after many test drives, I picked this car because it had what others didn't offer (two-tone interior + leather, auto climate and auto headlights, V6!!!, etc). There are bad parts like the lack of a trunk opener on the remote (despite being electronically popped open), but i like this car. Don't be fooled by my long list of cons, I'm just picky.

Brought brand new in Jan of 06. Car is has been fun to drive over the past 1.5 yrs but have had numerous problems with the car.BCM unit needed to be replaced, now transmission. Hyundai warranty will not cover much. Hyundai is refusing to fix my transmission because I upgraded the spark plugs and sparks plug wiring for the 30K service. They are considering the upgrade performance parts therefore voiding my warranty. I will not buy another Hyundai, if you paid me, they pulled the same thing on me when my clutch need replaced on my 03 Elantra after 12k miles.

I have an orange crush tibby that turns heads and really glows. Never mind the nominal hp -- this car is fast and you can navigate traffic like a star. BMWs have a hard time keeping up. It purs beautifully. Get the sunroof -- it's the first time I've had one and it's important for the overall feel and comfort. Also, mine doesn't have rear windshield wipers and that needs to be remedied. The seats are very comfortable, but part of a cockpit feel that you have to slip into -- always pull the manually operated seats back as you get in and out (that's a fun factor too). This car's not for your if you're taller than 6' or overweight. The is a high rev'r and mileage is mediocre.

I bought this car from a used car dealer that lied about what it had. IE - no heated seats. However, after 2 days of driving the engine light came on and I took it to D & W Auto Repair in Port Orchard and they figured out it was only the Mass Air Flow Sensor and only charged me 1/2 hour labor to fix it. I asked them if there was anything else wrong and they said it was all good. My car rocks now!

I bought my 2006 SE (6mt) 4 years ago and haven't had any major problems just replaced my timing belt at 159k. Bought it with 88k miles and it's been all over the country. Just drove it out of town 5 hours away in June. If you do the regular maintenance and keep a eye on your wheel alignment it's pretty reliable still on the original clutch and added a few aftermarket parts just to make it a little more fun to daily. The Delta V-6 is reliable in my experience and this is over 3 different 06 SE that I have been around. I can't really speak for the 2.0 but for me it's pretty stylish for a early 2000's car and easy to find one in good condition in a manual. (drove the automatic and it definitely allows the low power output to show)

I have a 2006 V6 5-Speed Tiburon. Leather interior w/ a high performance air filter that gets me an average of 31 MPG. Red with blond leather interior. I've had to replace the main OS sensor twice in two years but I did it myself this last time for $31.00, not unhappy about it. Last time I replaced it was through a mechanic and cost me $308.00. It's so easy I'm kicking myself. I looked for one of these for a year and a half and finally found this one nearby. It's low to the ground so I have to roll in and roll out but otherwise a great car to drive. I've since traded in this vehicle for a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP, which is more of an adult vehicle for me, Love the new vehicle with only 86,000 miles and very clean. Enjoyed the Tibby but it wasn't for me being so low to the ground.

My first purchased vehicle

It was 2005 and I had just taken a buyout from a job and enrolled in school for HVAC+R. I had never bought myself anything nice or expensive in my life and I wanted to treat myself to a new car. I already had a used 1995 Chevy Blazer 2 door, and had just purchased a used 1984 Ford Ranger that I was having painted. I wanted something sporty and stylish that wouldn't break my limited budget. I fell in love with the Tiburon (I was already a Fast and the Furious fan) and I was heavily into mods that the magazine Sport Compact Tuner had available for it. I started an internet search for one and found it in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. I called the Dealer and negotiated a price for a used 2005 Tib GT that was a one off. It had a 6 speed transmission and all the trim of the SE, minus the infinity sound system. I was sold. I cut a bankers check and flew to Florida to pick it up. It looked even better in person. The original owner brought it back for an Audi TT, but that was my good fortune. It had less than 400 miles on it and I paid 18 thousand for it. I drove it back to Detroit, Michigan. I had no issues but when shifting to third, the shifting was a little off. Perhaps the clutch wasn't all the way open, it was slow to disengage, or I was at fault, but I made sure to focus on shifting to third very carefully and it was still ... mushy. I had no issues with the other gears except third. Downshifting was fun and downshifting into 3rd was never an issue. I was able to put it through the paces and managed to reach 140 mph, but the rear spoiler failed at that point. I needed to upgrade it to keep the rear wheels planted on the pavement at higher speeds. I loved the interior and the way the red mesh laid over the black leather with the red stitching on the seats. I upgraded the sound system immediately because I love loud music and the pre-installed system was missing. I upgraded everything to Kenwood. All the speakers, receiver, crossovers, and amplifiers were Excelon series. I only wish I bought 2 subs instead of one. With the windows up, it sounded really good at moderate levels and was super crisp inside the vehicle. Outside of the ride, You could barely hear the music play.... even at loud levels. No panel rattling. Well made vehicle. It drove well and was super comfortable. It didn't need anything more than regular unleaded, which was great for my budget. I did find myself going to the gas station more often than in my Blazer (v6) or my Ranger (inline 4, 8 plugs), but that was to be expected from a dedicated compact sport coupe. I had plans on adding a turbo, new intake, and exhaust, but I had a lawsuit I lost and I was forced to sell everything. I regretted selling the Tib. I loved that car. Now, later in life...I'm looking to purchase another one for a project car. If you're looking for a really fast car out of the gate, don't look at a Tib. It's a really great good-looking, comfortable, dependable, economic sport car. Nice for a person not trying to race, or a first time buyer.

My car was flawless for the first 21,000 miles (2 years). The problem was initially diagnosed as "collapsed engine lifters" but after this repair failed to correct the issue a new engine "short block" was installed. After another 1,750 miles the "new" engine short block proved to be "defective". During the 5 weeks the dealership had the car to install the 2nd short block we gave up and bought a Nissan. Very disappointing.

It was used with 21,500 miles on it. I bought it right off the bat. I haven't had any trouble with it what so ever. I'm actually looking into tuning it up. It handles like no other and the ride is smooth. The sound system is great for being stock. The mpg is great too. I live in Idaho and I drove to Salt Lake City, Utah and back on 1/2 tank of gas and it's about a 4 or 5 hour drive from where I live.

Let me start by saying that I have had nothing but trouble with this car in the 15 months that i owned it. It the first two months the power window broke and the visor fell off. After 12 months & 13,000 miles I had to put $1,400 dollars into getting a new clutch since the warranty expires after 12 months or 12,000 miles. Not to mention that before i traded it in they told me i had another problem with the transmission. Be aware also that any up grades will void your warranty, including changing your own oil. I will never buy another Hyundai...period
