So Far very Happy!
Suv is Fun to Drive .Can't wait until engine is broken in, so we can really drive it!
Fabulous vehicle!
We purchased our SE AWD back in March and just love it. Have had it on 2 long road trips, and it is so fun and comfortable to drive. I was a little reluctant about getting a Hyundai, but after owning the vehicle for 4 months, no regrets. We test drove the CRV and others, no comparison in value, features, and comfort. Many comments here about the poor interior lighting. Hyundai has corrected this on never production models, and they will fix older 2007 vehicles for free if you ask. My map lights now go on when the doors are opened. Great customer service from Hyundai USA on this.

2007 Santa Fe
Extremely enjoyable to drive - handles very well - tight to the road. Love it!!
2Hyundais - One Family
We just purchased a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe. We already (and still) own a 2003 Hyudai Santa Fe and are very pleased with the reliability and superior value this vehicle provides for an SUV. The handling is excellent, the value for the money is superior, and improvements in standard features and exterior styling have made the Santa Fe even more desirable. Now that we have 2 Hyundai Santa Fe's in our family, just call us crazy about our Hyundais.
First SUV Fun
After test driving around 10 other SUV's my top choice was the Santa Fe. We tend to be a low mileage family (currently our 2002 Grand Caravan just turned 40,000), I was looking at something that I plan to drive into the ground. I needed a vehicle to haul our young children and my fishing tackle. So many aspects drew me to the Santa Fe. I would recommend this to anyone.
Trailer pre-wiring
My opinion is that the trailer pre wiring package is a fraud. THere is no adapter to plug and play into the fittings on the vehicle. The wiring harness available from the manufacturer splices into brake lights. This should be considered a major manufacturing defect.
My favorite car so far
I have been watching the 2007 Santa Fe much of this year and have been impressed with the reviews, with Hyudai's company performance, and with the assembly plant in Alabama. After seeing one live and driving it, I was sold. My criteria for a vehicle was safety, comfort and quiet, looks, and lastly fun to drive (in that order). The Santa Fe satisfies all of these quite nicely. Our other vehicle is a Lexus RX350, and the SF holds it's own against it. The ride is smooth and it is extrememly quiet. Power is more than adequate for my needs. The fit and finish are great. The third row seats are much roomier and more comfortable that I had envisioned. They are super easy to get in and out of too.
Will not buy Hyundai again
Driving is decent for an SUV along with the looks however I have owned my "first-time Hyundai" 2 months and it has been in the shop over half of that due to a sunroof issue. I am on my 5th sunroof and the problems are still not corrected. I contacted the consumer affairs department and received a case number and that is the last time I have heard from them. I have called to update information and have been told repeatedly that my case manager will be in touch and this has been going on for a month with still no contact. The sunroof still leaks and when open rattles to the point it sounds like the glass is going to brake. Now, I am again waiting for them to decide what to do. Horrible!
Good Bang for the Buck
I have over 5000 miles on this vehicle and I love it. It handles well, rides well for an SUV and has a quiet interior. That was important to me as my previous Honda CRV drove me crazy with road noise. It is a sexy looking vehicle as well. Gas mileage is not bad for the weight of the vehicle. I get 18-19 city and 22-23 highway at 75-80 mph. Highway mileage increases dramatically to 25- 26 if you travel at 70 mph. I must qualify this by saying that I live in southern AZ where the roads are flat with little hill climbing.
2nd Santa Fe
I just traded a 2003 Santa Fe for a 2007 Limited. This car drives better than my wife's Highlander and friends Lexus RX. The quality and style in one package are the best for the money. I loved my 2003 Santa Fe, but this car is a world of difference in quality and ride. If you are considering a mid- size SUV do yourself a favor and test drive the new Santa Fe.
Santa Fe 3.3 AWD
What a great SUV! Incredibly well thought-out, love the exterior and interior design. I test drove all the competition, and the Santa Fe offered everything and more, at a lower price! JD Powers ranks Hyundai just below Porsche and Lexus, this was a no-brainer decision.
Great SUV
We've had our Santa Fe for 3.5 years. It just hit 104,000 kms. Other than oil changes, we have had no problems. Minor things like cloth coming out from door handle a bit but that is it. Great ride, lots of storage, great for families. Considering buying it out at the end of our lease
I'm in LOVE!!! This Hyundai is Stylin'
I loved this car when I drove it for the first time. Thought it was fantastic that the dealer let me take it for 24 hours to test drive, that made me love it even more. My husband really wanted the Honda Pilot, but once I brought the Hyundai home, he loved it for me. Plenty of room inside and love the hideway trunk space.
Best in Show
Shopped around. Looked at the 4cyl competitors such as the X-Trail, CRV, Forester etc. But we need to tow a small boat and the 2000lb capacity of those models swayed us to a V6, reluctantly. We drove Endeavor, Pilot, a used ML and a couple others. We like that the styling is brand new so it won't look out of date for a while. MUCH better than the old model. There really was no other choices that made sense. Toyotas and Hondas with leather were 40K and really didn't seem better. Sincerely the best bang for the buck out there in a mid-size SUV.
Comparable with Honda
I absolutely love my new 2007 Santa Fe. I have purchased several Honda Vehicles and I love this one more. It has a smooth ride, beautiful interior and love the new redesigned exterior. This SUV handles wonderfully. You will enjoy it and the price and warranty is the best part of all!
I love it
Although I only recently purchased this vechile I absolutley LOVE IT!!!! I have no cmplaints what so ever. I went from an 05 elantra to the Santa Fe and I just cant get enough of it. Its very eye catching inside and out. Once I saw it I knew it had to be mine.
Power steering pump
We had to replace our power steering pump at about 10,000 miles. because of a winding noise coming from it at start up. at 11,000 the noise had returned. Other than that vehicle is very comfortable. and responsive. I really love the new body style.
A lot of car for the buck
I've only been in this car about 2 weeks, but, I love it. I just got out of an Infiniti G35X and it is just as fun to drive. This is my first Hyundai and I'm very impressed. I have the mid- level SE version and it is a lot of SUV for the buck. My wife has a Jeep Liberty and the ride is harsh. This SUV rides like a dream. It is also roomier. You can't beat the warranty either. The earlier version has weaker lines and the redesign fits right in with what I wanted. The deepwater ocean blue is glittery in the sun and looks hot with the beige interior. Back deck, without the 3rd row seat, has small storage compartments and comes with a thick rubber mat to protect the back. Visibility is excellent.
Reliable, Smooth, and No Regrets
I've had my Santa Fe almost 3 years and have put almost 45,000 miles on it. The only time it's been back to the dealership is for oil changes! The car is such a pleasure to drive, its so smooth you can't feel the transmission shift even under hard acceleration. The engine is whisper quiet even when underway, merging into traffic. The interior is holding up beautifully and the cloth seats are proving to wear very well. I love the adaptable transmission and how it adjusts to your driving style. I'm averaging about 27 mpg on the highway and overall its a great car that I plan to drive it for a long time.
First 500 miles
This is the second Hyundai I have owned. The first one I drove 130,000 and turned it over to my Son. The car still runs very well. I had a Honda Pilot SUV before and liked it better but it's a lot more pricy then the Santa Fe so you have your trade offs. I bought this vehicle on the last day of the month and actually walked out of the dealership because they wouldn't meet my price. Three hours later they called me and agreed to sell me the Santa Fe for what I wanted. Always buy at the end of the month. You will get what you want or the dealership just couldn't do the deal.
Glad we bought a Hyundai
We drove ALL the mid size suv's. We liked the Honda cr-v. We even took it for a half a day and drove around. We went back to close the deal and the dealer couldn't have been more rude. We liked the car, but not going to buy from people who try and push you into it. So we went to Hyundai. Couldn't have been a better experince! We just love the santa Fe. Runs great, and looks great. Love it!!!
I finally switched from Ford
Most of my friends say it must be a cold day in hell...I took the plunge and switched from Ford. I am so happy that I did. This vehicle is awesome and exceeds my expectations. I have owned this for 1 month and I cant believe the difference from an American car. Outstanding ride, comfort, and quiet solid vehicle.
Best Hyundai Ever
This vehicle combines the best features of all of it's competitors into one smart affordable package. The Santa Fe doesn't necessarily excel in any single category but the sum of all the parts beats most every competitor. When you factor in the price it is clearly the top of the small SUV category and even competes with mid- size offerings. I would say the only drawback would be the fuel economy.
Excellent
This is our 2nd Santa Fe we love the new design
Incredible value
This SUV purchase was a no brainer! After test driving Murano, CX-7, CR-V, and RAV4,and doing a price and options comparison we went hands down with the Santa Fe. Not only we got a very well made vehicle fully loaded,(limited), but we got a killer warranty along with it for added peace of mind. 10k more for the Murano was not justifiable,6k more for the RAV4 for 4 more mpg, didn't do it for us with less equipment, less warranty and a Jeepy style, CX-7 didn't have the right engine, and the CR-V can't even compare. The Santa Fe drives like a luxury car, very quiet and great ride. Standard equipment list is impressive. Very good fit and finish. For us, the clear winner at the end of the day.
still satisfied after 20000 miles
I bought this vehicle in september 2006 and have over 20,000 miles on it so far. For an SUV with a V6 I can say it is pretty good on gas (overall 22 MPG). Still drives like a car and is very quiet on the road. I live in Massachusetts and my wife has never had any issues driving in the snow (we live in the second hilliest city in the US). I don't have any interior failures or defects as stated in other reports. I can honestly say that I have no complaints with this SUV and was looking at the Pilot and highlander also at the time. I wish I had purchased the 3rd row seat.
Great Buy!!
I have owned my Santa Fe for 2 years and have loved it completely. Taken multiple trips out west and have had no problems. If driven properly on highway, it gets 24mpg. Otherwise it stays around 20mpg. For the money, this is the best SUV to buy. Have yet to get it stuck with the AWD. I would absolutely recommend this vehicle to others and am going to get another one in the future.
Review of my Santa Fe SE 3.3
The Santa Fe SE 3.3 is an outstanding value. Lots of pep, strong engine and transmissions is excellent. Road noise is minimal, and wind noise is minimal. I love this SUV, just the right size, and good comfort, plus all the safety conveniences such as side and front airbags, stability control etc.
New Santa Fe
I love this SUV. I only have one complaint: On bright, sunny days, it's hard to read the numbers on the speedometer unless you run with the lights on. I suggest that you do that, and then there's no problem reading it. Hyundai should consider redoing the display. Otherwise, the vehicle is such a super value for the money, It's really had to beat. I shopped extensively over one month, and nothing can compare for the price and features.
First Hyundai
The Santa Fe is quieter and more enjoyable to drive than my Buick Rendezvous that I really liked. It's got a lot of standard features considering the fact that this is the base model. The 2.7 automatic V6 is OK in coastal NC where we live but strains in the mountains according to my wife (I wasn't with her). The stick-shift feature apparently was useful in coping with the steeper road grades. At 16.5 MPG city, fuel economy is disappointing. No problems at all so far but after 3 1/2 months, we only have 2,900 miles on it.
Better Resale Than Given Credit For
The Santa Fe is a great car and value (we bought ours for a little less than 21k, after incentives). It has been the best driving car we have owned, better than our Civics, Maximas, or Camrys. My parents have had 0 Sonata (they bought it for 10k new a few years ago).
Smiling
Test drove many vehicles and educated myself on line. Have owned Hyundai in the past and was very satisfied. Purchased it for 4,200.00 off sticker and love it!!!!!
Gas Milage
I leased my new Hyudai Sante Fe in April of 2007. Everything about the comfort, style, performace and practicality of the verhicle is excellent.....except for the gas milage. I had previoiusly been driving a Buick Rendevous and the Sante Fe was advertised as similar gas mileage. But my expereince has been far below that estimate. I am averaging only 15 miles per gallon in the city and 18 on the highway. This has been a big disappointment. I'm glad I only leased and not purchased this SUV. The sad part is if I DID get closer to the advertised gas milage, this would be the perfect vehicle for me and I would purchase it.
My New Santa Fe
AT first the look of the vehicle caught my eye . Then driving is very tight which I like. There is little to no leanning when taking turns, switchig lanes,(in city or highway)or cornering. The transmission is smooth and accurate. You can also have fun with the sport shift. 242 horse engine is quiet and snappy along with a quiet cabin. interior I found to be impressive wit plenty of room. Also it doesn't have the old boxxy SUV look.
So far, so good
Just passed the 1200 mile break in period. Present mileage is at 20 mpg, combined city and highway. Not sure however as I have not had a complete highway trip yet. Like the interior, instrument cluster well designed and easy to access. The 2.7 liter has more pickup than engine size would lead you to believe. Minor problem with seat belt retractor, corrected by dealer.
So far, So Good!
Just picked up my '07 SF Limited 5/31. Just about 600 miles. The interior design is what won me over and rave reviews from all that has seen it. At 5'9 the headroom is fine for me. Alot of vehicle for the money compared to Ford Edge, Mazada CX7, and Murano and way better style size and interior standard features than RAV4 (which my wife drives a '07 bought in Feb. 07) and CRV. SF has a firm positive ride feel to it. Seems like a much larger and heavier vehicle when driving but being very responsive and sure footed. The power isn't the best in class, but it will get out of its way very easily and smoothly. Unbelievable quiet ride. To sum up, so far very pleased and happy.
Love the Santa Fe
Have had the Santa Fe for about a month. Love the way it drives. Wish my wife would let me drive it more often.
Wise Buy
After eying crossovers for a couple of years and test driving several, the new Santa Fe caught my eye, and it was the first crossover I got excited about. Only have 1700 mi on it, but am extremely pleased with safety, performance, and styling. Getting 22.5 mpg - better than my Jeep Grand Cherokee. Good visibility, especially the big windshield. Smooth ride, good acceleration. Powerful A/C as needed here in AZ. Now my neighbor who rides to work with me wants one! If I continue to be this pleased, would do it again in a heartbeat. As others say, first thing that struck me when I climbed in was "more bang for the buck."
Great SUV
We traded in our 2002 Santa Fe Limited for this one after checking Toyota and Honda. We get about 20 mpg over all in the summer and 23-24 over all mpg on long trips, about what they predicted. The only draw backs we have found are that the right rear seat belt buckle will not come out of the seat hole far enough to get it buckled up. The cruise control is to slow to respond so you can drop 5 to 7 mph on inclines before you get back up to speed (frustrating for the people following you). Hyundai does not have a fix for these and maybe nobody else has these problems as I haven't see it listed before. We still love the car and would buy another.
Outstanding value
Test drove a Acura RDX, Honda Pilot, Toyota Rav4 and Hyundai Santa Fe. Settled on the Santa Fe and we are extremely happy with our choice. Suspension is awesome: much better than the RDX, Pilot and Rav4 that we test drove. Interior build quality is excellent. Dashboard layout is functional. No road noise on the highway. Vehicle has about 4500 miles on it and so far there have been no problems.
Still love my Santa Fe!
I read these reviews when I considered buying a new Santa Fe in 07, so I am writing one to any prospective buyer. I have owned my Santa Fe for over 2 years and I still love it as much as the day that I bought it! In fact, it still drives and rides just like new. Cabin is quiet and comfortable and the paint has an unbelievable shine. I keep vehicles that I love and intend to drive my Santa Fe for many years to come. Thank you Hyundai for making a fantastic automobile.
2007 Santa Fe
Only owm the car for 2 weeks and love it. Was not looking for a Hyundai until I spotted it on the dealers lot. Once I drove it, I had to own it. Got a great deal and so far am happy with the purchase, a lot of classy vehicle for the money. Love the performance, ride, and interior. Great leather seats.
Santa Fe, Best Choice by far for us.
Previously owned a Subaru Outback, then Mazda Tribute. Test drove Toyota RAV, Highlander, Honda Pilot and Mazda CX-7 and 9. The Santa Fe was by far the best vehicle for us and best value. Quiet comfortable cabin. Plenty of HP and smooth shifting. We were looking for a larger vehicle than the Tribute and though we would buy the Pilot but after comparing all, it was no contest, Santa Fe hands down. The size is right for us, the finish inside is outstanding with great controls, plenty of knee and leg room, firm but comfortable seats and a great driving position. Exterior styling has an "attitude." Getting 18 MPG around town and 23+ on a trip from Denver to Aspen and back.
Love my Santa Fe
I bought the CUV this June and love the way that it drives compared to my 10 year old Dodge Durango. More zip, much better mileage, with more HP (242 vs 230). I love the XM radio feature. Good A/C chills quick, Aluminum engine warms up much quicker than my old 5.2 V8.
Best Hyundai yet
Much quieter and better ride than 2003 Sante Fe. Many more features, bigger and more comfortable seats
Hyundai has come a L-O-N-G way!
When my wife and I decided to buy a small SUV as a 3rd vehicle, we first looked at the Hyundai Tucson. We liked it a lot but decided to also look at the Santa Fe. We were immediately impressed and after checking out all competitors, we bought our Limited AWD with XM and Premium Package fresh off the truck. After 1 month and 1500 miles I can say positively that the Santa Fe is a wonderful SUV. It's comfortable, well-built, and every bit as enjoyable to drive as our former Volvo XC90. The Santa Fe has the feel of a much more expensive vehicle. There are no rattles or squeaks and everything has a solid feel to it. I'm a "car guy" and this Hyundai has not disappointed me.
Great, Inexpensive, Car!
We looked at the Toyota Rav4, GMC Envoy, and Honda Pilot, and this is the best of all of those. There are so many thoughtful features in it that I've been discovering for the past 2 weeks. It has lighted cup holders when your head lights are on, a gasoline sensor so the air in the cabin doesn't have gas in it, and the Mp3 capibilities. The ride is a bit rough, but the leather seats comphensate for that. Getting leather at 26,400$ is a great buy! The wheels may cost a lot of money to replace though. This Santa Fe blows its older model away with better looks, better interior, and better fit and finish. (One word of caution: The limited AWD w/ 5 seats only is very rare, so look around)
Hyundai is a hidden GEM (MORE FOR $$$)
Own a Fully loaded Honda Oddysey and a Toy Matrix... We did not enjoy the Matrix... we did enjoy the resale value. We looked at everything... Honda Pilot, 4-Runner, CX7, CX9, Kia Sorento... then in the car area we almost settled on a pre-owned(10k) Infiniti G35 but we have 3 kids so we were looking for blend of what our Oddysey and our Matrix gave us... Plenty of space inside for trips and modern functionality in a cool package When we drove the Santa Fe we fell in love and knew it... not only is the car briliantly engineered inside and out... The build quality is visible everywhere..hence the 5 star rating. This is truly a unique vehicle with the entirety of its features/warranty
Lots of Bang for a Buck
Driven AWD SE for 6 month, 6000 miles. Ownership experience has been great with no problems. Before purchase, did a lot of magazine and internet research. Except for expensive luxury SUVs, test drove all small and mid-size SUVs on same road course, with mix of freeway and hilly, curvy streets and surface streets purposely with rough pavement and potholes. For drivability and comfort, narrowed choice down to Santa Fe, Nissan, Acura and Ford Edge. After negotiating price, Santa Fe blew the others away. For SUV, drives well on freeways and mountain roads. Very smooth, quiet and comfortable ride. Seats are comfortable. Mileage in-town around 18; highway 19-20.
Just Needs More Comfortable Front Seats
Other than the front seat bottoms, which need to be about two inches longer, my wife and I are happy with the car. Very quiet interior-easy to have a normal conversation at highway speeds (windows up, of course). Don't care for the "proprietary" XM radio. The logo will be there rather you activate or not. And true, the 18" wheels seem to contribute to a little harsher ride on rough roads.
