Used 2018 Hyundai Kona Consumer Reviews
Never again. And don't expect help from Hyundai
This Kona has major safety problems with runaway acceleration while in cruise control (8-10 mph) as well as loud surging to maintain speed in cruise. On our highway trips we've been averaging only 24 mpg tops, while around town it has great gas mileage of around 33 mpg. Not what we were led to expect.

Safety concerns
New 2018 Hyundai Kona (financed) and have had it towed 3 times for issues, all incidents while driving with child. Each time was towed to a Hyundai Service center - Concord, Bakersfield, and now Tracy (all in CA). It is currently at the service center. I have a 6yr old and do not feel safe in this vehicle that has 53,384 miles as of this review. 2 months from the time I was previously towed (6/9/20 & 8/4/20) AND previous to that on 2019. Each time the car would automatically decelerate while driving, shake violently, and out of fear of further issues, immediately connected to Bluelink for tow. The car itself isn't bad asthetically, but having towed 3 times in 2 years is enough. I've opened a complaint with Hyundai Consumer and submitted it for the Lemon Law. Will see what happens but truly disappointed for buying their "top of the line" Ultimate model.

Acceleration car defect
My Kona accelerated on its own while I was parking. It jumped a curb went through bushes and crashed into a city light pole. It cracked the light pole and insurance had to pay for it. I was bruised on my stomach and received a3degree burn on my left wrist from the chemicals in the airbags that deployed. My car was TOTALED. I had to buy a new vehicle and pay off the balance I owed on the Kona. From what I understand the company knew that sudden acceleration was a defect of this vehicle, and they never recalled it. My insurance doubled and I pay $400.00 a month. I was lucky to walk away from this accident. My insurance company doesn’t believe the car accelerated on its own so I am held liable for hitting the light pole.. I had my foot on the break trying to stop the vehicle and it didn’t work. I’ve had several accidents being rear ended and never had an airbag deploy.. it probably saved my life. I feel there’s so much injustice that the company doesn’t reimburse me for the accident as I lost my vehicle and had. injuries from the crash. Then I had to buy a new vehicle so I lost the money I had in the Kona and I had no trade to purchase a new car..
