High value, High Tech, Low-medium Price
Has a smooth but by-design hybrid acceleration (which is spongy and sluggish unless you really get aggressive with the pedal). This is somewhat mitigated by the sport mode, which is an on-the-fly shift on/off while in "D" (drive gear). The cockpit is low to the ground, so you must lift yourself out of it, but not too low. Folks with back injuries might have difficulty. The tech package is amazing for the price point on the Ioniq SEL. Cruise control is very advanced + lane assist + radar-guided collision detection and follow distance from the cars in front of you + back up camera + passing car detection + other stuff. I think the stock audio system is exceptional and tuned to the cab, if not slightly bass-heavy--or you can go to the Limited and get the Infinity 8-speaker as an option. I'm loving the Apple CarPlay integration. Split HVAC is great, and can switch to driver-side only for greater fuel efficiency. The driver and front passenger have cavernous leg room! Visually, the car is sedan-average-looking in my opinion, but looks way better than the Prius. The ride is very car-like compared to an SUV. You feel the road when it's rough, but on a nice road--smooth as glass. I recommend purchasing WeatherTech fitted all-weather floor and cargo mats, and I'm thinking about custom alloy spoke wheels to dress it up a little.

Ioniq is unique ION Tech
The visual feedback from the mileage and what is driving the car - the electric battery or the engine or both, encourages you to drive efficiently to get the 51 or 52 miles per gallon. The power and acceleration with that double clutch electric/gas engine gives you all you need to get on the freeway and around a popup target. Don't listen to those that say it has wind and road noise. You are supposed to drive this puppy with the windows closed for fuel efficiency. You have to have the satellite radio station service for 24/7 commercial free talk shows, music, etc. The blue tooth is excellent for streaming phone and music devices to the radio & speakers. My wife drives this car more than I do as she likes it better then or fancy SUV. You have to get the Tech package - especially the auto-stop feature, lane-assist, rear backup cross traffic sensors. If you're not buying that in any new car, you need to ask yourself why you're buying a new car.

Very Enjoyable Vehicle
I have been wanting a more economical vehicle for several years, but did not care for the style and ride of what was offered. Then I read about the Hyundai line of Ioniq vehicles and was impressed. I did much research and talking with several Hyundai dealers and finally made a deal for a white Ioniq Limited with the Ultimate package. I have had the Ioniq for almost a month now and have not been disappointed. I am averaging 50 MPG which I find very good for a brand new vehicle. On one road trip it managed 62 MPG. With a hybrid, one need to learn to drive differently to achieve good MPG. Some say the seats are not comfortable, but I am 210 pounds and I think they are just fine. I also think the handling and braking are good - not a sports car - but good. I am in my mid 70's but the road noise seems about normal for a vehicle of this class. The Ioniq is solid going over rail road tracks and bumps. It has most all of the creature comforts of vehicles costing twice as much. Three things I wish it had: rain sensing wipers, power passenger seat, and a hood that did not need a rod to hold it up. With the front seats in the position I would normally have them there is ample room in the rear seat for passengers. And of course it is loaded with all the safety and tech stuff, like lane keeping and departure warning, backup warning and camera, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot alert, adaptive cruise, dynamic bending headlights, navigation, Android Auto, Bluelink, Infinity Audio, memory driver's seat. The rear luggage area has plenty room for four passenger's luggage and because it is a hatchback it has more room than sedan of this size with a trunk. There is also some storage space under the luggage area floor. The Ioniq comes with an emergency puncture repair kit, but I ordered a space saver spare kit which fits nicely under the luggage compartment floor. The dealer experience, Crain Hyundai, of Conway AR, was the best. I told them what I wanted and they got it. There was no pressure to buy an extended warranty or accessories and it was delivered with a full tank of fuel.
Not in Toyota's Pocket
I own an Ioniq SEL. I could not be happier. I have driven a Prius a few times and found it just too anemic entering a highway or passing. I found the Ioniq far superior in this regard. I love the way this car drives it is comfortable and quiet; I could not be happier. As to steering, the reviewer is spitting hairs. If you want sports car handling buy a sports car like my spider 124. As to mileage, it really depends on where and how you drive. I live in the hills in Tennessee and there I average around 46 miles per gal. But when I am in FL or some place flat I average just over 50. Do not underestimate the value of the life time warranty on the battery. This insures your lower cost of ownership will not evaporate with a battery replacement. How a car looks to you is subjective but really I have to believe with most people the nod has to go to the Ioniq---by a long shot. Cargo space is very good. I traded my 2018 CRV in on the Ioniq. Before I did, I measured the the actual floor space with the seats down, in it and the Ioniq. Both the floor space, and the hatch opening width, were within an inch. Obviously because of height and body shape, the Civic beat the Ioniq in overall cubic feet (around 10 cubic feet greater). But the point is in most type of loads the Ioniq fares pretty well in cargo space. Unless I would need to pack a load to the ceiling I can carry pretty much what I did with my 2018 CRV (also a great vehicle). Bottom line: more bang for your buck with a Ioniq compared to Prius. The above was written as a comment on the Car Gurus review. I did not agree with the assessment in total but they did give the nod to Ioniq over the Prius. I thought the Edmunds' review was further off the mark. The Edmunds' reviewer mentioned the Ioniq as having tepid acceleration. All hybrids in this class have tepid acceleration. But the Ioniq has much better pickup than many and certainly the Prius. Do yourself a favor and drive both the Prius and Ioniq for a true assessment. Make sure you get on and off a major highway a few times and judge which car would be safer entering a busy highway. The Ioniq has a dual clutch automatic transmission as opposed to the Prius which has a CVT. A note on Continuously Variable Transmissons: Reviewers love them, but they do not mention their effect on pickup which they generally impact negatively. I have driven many, I am a Honda Guy. But there are tradeoffs. I also believe the Edmunds reviewer exaggerated the harshness of the shifting. As a matter of fact I thought it has performed very well for a vehicle of this type. Is the transmission as smooth as a Luxury Hybrid like a Lexus? No. But do you have 60,000 to blow on a car? --Then by all means....

The difference is in the reviewer
I had several test in Hybrid Cars, Hyundia, Toyota, Chevy and Ford. It really came down to 3 cars Hyundia,Chevy and Ford. I test drove all 3 again. The way i made up my mind was to compare Price, Waranty, and how much i liks the car. Price and Waranty left out Ford and Chevy. That left Hyundia, Hyundai, Hyundia. I read all the reviews on Hyundia Consumer Report , Edmunds, ETC. If i had not read the actual customer reviews i may not have bought the car. It seemed 100% of owners loved the car. I have noticed almost none of the problems brought out by the Professionals reviewers. No body brings up the warranty maybe because Hyundia has the best one and the only one that gives a life time warranty on The Hybrid battery. Have you priced one of those babys. I have LTD. Package the seats are very comfortable I'm only 5'5" and that may have a lot to do with it. I love my Ioniq and actually look for excues to drive it.

Loved it ... at first
I do get great gas mileage with this car and love that. HOWEVER, the electronics are an issue. I had the car less that a year and had to have it towed in for service because it would not start. Now the various electronics are giving me issues (had the car just one year as of last month). I keep the auto option selected for the lights. This morning the lights came on when I started the car. I assumed they would go off once I got out on the road - but no. Even after turning the car off, the lights stayed on. And the method of connected my phone to the car has disappeared, no longer even an option. This happened previously so I bought a new phone. When my phone upgraded, the system stopped working again. The fob keeps falling off. Service is difficult because they do not return your car or respond to web requests for service.

Love this car!
It’s just fun to drive! Braking and handling is very responsive. Interior comfort is good for front seat passengers. Back seat room is limited. Plenty of storage and mileage is consistently between 58-62 mph. Mileage does suffer after 70 mph and drops back to the advertised mpg. Updated 3/19: this winter took its toll on mileage but it's not surprising with record cold, the engine had to run much more than normal to maintain operating and interior temperatures. Now that it's warming up again outside, the mileage is returning to normal. Update 3/20: Still a happy customer, no issues and consistent performance. Update 9/20: still happy, nothing new to report.

bright blue Hyundai Ioniq
I just leased a brand new 2019 Hyundai Ionic Hybrid blue. It is the basic cheapest hybrid you can buy and I got the base cheapest model/version of this car. The car looks more awesome then Honda or Toyota in my opinion, and I love hatchbacks. The bright blue color is attractive and beautiful. It shifts well and is automatically in the economy mode all the time, but you can easily switch it to the sport mode and control the shifting and get more power if you want it (I love that I have the easy ability to switch!). The gas mileage is estimated to be an average of 55 mpg which is AWESOME! Best mpg in its class!! It is very comfortable and decently quiet inside. The only tiny issue I have is the driver's seat is the basic seat and doesn't have the "Lumbar" adjustability I had on my last car, but it is still comfortable. I'm assuming if you got the SEL or Limited it would come with that feature on the seat. Another great thing is this hybrid has a lifetime warranty on the battery to the original buyer--that is a great value! I highly recommend this hybrid.

Mixed Feelings - on its second strike -buy a Prius
Still bitter about neither the 2019 SEL or 2020 Limited making it to 30,000 without needing major work done or stumping the technicians. Around $64,000 financed, and I have nothing but increased debt, resentment towards a once-great dealership, and a 15 year old Mazda that will probably still be running like a champ long after both those Hyundais are recycled by their subsequent buyers. Short version: Bad: - horrid depreciation - transmission replaced at 27,000 miles - fuel injector replaced at 30,000 miles - great customer service from dealer - stuck in this car...hoping it lasts through 1) the warranty, 2) the financing Good: - comfortable, I have taken it to Florida, Wisconsin, Tennessee, the coast, the mountains, and - efficient! I had a tank of fuel where I averaged 70 mpg, and haven't had a tank average less than 50 mpg! - stylish/handsome - feels well-built/solid -well-appointed/optioned - the sound system is great, ApplePlay is nice (when it doesn't crash), the adaptive cruise control is a game changer for my commute, and the hatchback design provides ample cargo space. Background: I have owned 3 hybrids previously (2007 Prius 4, 2009 Prius 2, and 2016 Rav4 XLE), and have enjoyed them very much. The Prii were purchased used with 144,000 miles and 102,000 miles, respectively; the Rav4 was purchased new) After doing research and price shopping, I chose to purchase the 2019 Hyundai Ioniq SEL, as it was the best bang for my buck, had excellent rebates, and came with a 100,000 mile powertrain warranty and a lifetime warranty on the hybrid battery. By the second service, I noticed that the transmission was not finding or holding gears well. Upon telling an advisor, I was told that those who were "uneducated" as to how a DCT works, will oft think that it is malfunctioning. By the time the 27,500 rolled around, the transmission was grinding upon deceleration to the point that a passenger accused me of grinding gears. Once again I brought this up to a service advisor, and they humored me by saying they would resurface the rotors. I told them that after they resurfaced the rotors, I would appreciate them taking the car for a test drive and decelerate from 60 to 40 mph, and tell me what they heard. After performing the test as I described, they determined that there was a problem. Unfortunately they weren't sure if it was the hybrid system or the transmission. My car was in their shop for two weeks (give or take a day), and the transmission was replaced under warranty. I requested an itemized shop bill at what the cost would have been if I had paid out of pocket, and it was over $7,000! Hyundai corporate reached out to me to ensure that I was satisfied with the service that the dealership was providing, and that I was still satisfied with my car. I was thrilled by the great service at my Hyundai dealership (Johnson Hyundai in Cary, NC), as they did their best to bridge the gap between what I was sold and what I received. Hyundai declined to offer an extension on the warranty, and after a lengthy delay in responses on their part, I received a response from corporate. Since I did not respond to them within 48 hours of the receipt of their e-mail, they deemed the case closed. This tells me that their care and concern is about as long-lasting as their product. In conclusion: I cannot in good faith recommend this car to anyone. It will have to make it to 100,000 miles without so much as a misfire for me to be able to recommend it. The car has great features and the efficiency is the best in the class, but there's a reason that Hyundai priced it so low and offered incentives. There's also a reason that there aren't very many old Hyundai vehicles on the road, and that was something I should have taken into consideration. Live and learn. Here's hoping that the little car improves with age, and I am once again satisfied with my purchase...however, so far it has merely put me on a first name basis with the service department and dealership managers.

Amazed by my Ioniq
In April of 2019 I traded in my 2014 Accent GLS Hatchback 6-speed for a new Ioniq Hybrid Blue. I loved driving the Accent, but found the cargo space to be somewhat limiting at times, and this was my main reason for the "upgrade". So far, I have been very impressed with the Ioniq. The car is very comfortable, quiet, and easy to drive, and the mileage has been nothing short of amazing. I used to get about 5.5 L/100km in the Accent, and to date I am averaging 4.0 L/100km with the Ioniq -- amazing considering the Ioniq is a considerably larger car than the Accent. On one particular trip across Toronto in the heart of rush hour, the dash display was showing 2.9 L/100km -- that's 81 miles per U.S. gallon. I was somewhat disappointed that the Blue trim did not include the cargo cover, and the price to buy the cover in Canada is insane, so I ordered one from a U.S. dealership close to the border. My only other complaints are that the stock radio does not sound very good, and I would have liked fog lights, and a tachometer in the display, but I consider these to be minor gripes. I am surprised that I don't see more Ioniq (of any "flavor") on the road, as from my experience at least, this is an exceptional vehicle. *** UPDATE - 1 year later *** I have owned the Ioniq for over 1 year now, and this car continues to impress. The mileage is not as good in the cold weather, but after a full year, my average fuel consumption is 4.5L/100km. I would not hesitate to recommend this car to anyone. *** UPDATE - year 2 *** The Ioniq is still running great. I took an all-day trip a week ago, and when I got home, the display was showing 3.7L/100km. With the way gas prices are going (thanks president Biden), I am sure I will appreciate the great gas mileage even more. Great car! *** UPDATE - year 5 *** After 5 years, I have yet to have any repairs required, other than regular wear-and-tear repairs. The car is great in all weather conditions, but this may be the last season for the original Michelin low rolling resistance tires that came on the car. The odometer is now showing 77,000km. My mileage record was obtained on a trip to Belleville (a trip of about 300km) where the car achieved an overall rating of 2.9L/100km, which is about 97MPG. After 5 years, the car has a couple of minor dents and scratches, but overall is still looking and driving great!

The best car I owned
This is a great car I really wanted the unlimited package with the limited trim and I finally got it, it's outstanding its not far behind or on par of usual luxury brand entry models, the electronic gearbox changes are a little bit rough sometimes but overall it's outstanding to withstand the los Angeles traffic, I drive almost on electric all the way thru the traffic, it's extremely efficient the acceleration to brake to regenerate ratio is outstanding, beware that you don't get the best juice in normal driving if you want better responsiveness and fast acceleration you have to use sport mide and you will be ok with the torque this baby generates, the intelligent cruise control is fantastic a little bit scary sometimes you have to get use and master the tactics haha, hyundai I love my hyundai!

Great value for a Hybrid vehicle
Great value for the standard options on the SEL model I owned a 2017 Prius and it was a great car better hybrid gauge layout better braking regeneration and great suspension the Ioniq on the other hand has a very rough suspension lots of road noise overall the car is great but it misses on a few things I paid 5k less for the Ioniq so just that alone is very impressive the Ioniq feels more like a sports car and is fun to drive except on rough Los Angeles roads another thing I wish it had was fog lights but other than that it's a great car but I'm only able to average roughly 47 mpg city

Much better than I thought it would be
I agree with edmunds that this is NOT a performance car. That being said, if you put it into sport mode it has plenty of “go” to get it moving at a decent clip. Fuel economy is unbelievable! We are getting around 650 miles per fill up. Seats are better than I thought they would be. Not luxury car seats, but not bad either. Our model doesn’t have all of the bells and whistles. We got this as a commuter car. We have taken it on one long distance trio, and had no regrets in doing so. Hyundai needs to advertise this car more than it does. At the moment it’s a hidden gem. Looks better than a Prius, and a lot cheaper too. BTW, the drive battery has an unlimited mileage and time for the original owner of the car.

not reliable
Within the first 3 months of owning this brand new vehicle, I've had 3 major malfunctions. First, unexplained engine warning lights, second, unexplained flat tire. Then the water pump failed, was obviously defective to begin with, and corruded other parts. Hyundai didn't even have the parts in the United States to replace the defective ones. Took 2 days for a dealter in Baldwin, Missouri to look at car then 7 days to get it repaired. Auffenberg Hyundai in Cape Giradeau, Missouri said they would arrange for the vehicle to be transported to my home but reneged on their promise. This is my update at 7500 miles and about 9 months of owning this car. Gas mileage has gone from 55-60 mpg to 40-45 mpg. Now there's no technician at the Cape Giradeau Missouri dealership where I purchased who can work on this new car. For me more lies and failed commitments from Hyundai. From 3500 miles to 19500 miles, I've had no further problems, still get 55-60 miles per gallon in warm weather, 40-45 miles per gallon in cold weather. Since my last update, I've had no further problems. The lack of a spare tire is very concerning though as other people have documented with this car and others. I will never forget the despicable customer service I received from Hyundai during the first few months of ownership.

So glad I got this car.
I've had my Ioniq for a month now. Before the lease I had an 2017 Elantra and a 2008 Prius. There were things that I loved about each. Never did I ever think I would find it all in one car. The first thing that attracted me to the Ioniq was a $4800 rebate. Sweet since I will probably be doing a lease to buy! I don't like what Toyota has done with the design of the new Prius. And it is very cost prohibitive. The Ioniq has the classic look of the older Prius which I love. I'm getting 44 mpg which I believe it's really good for cold New England weather. I know it will be higher in the summer. Plus the car is still breaking in. It has a very comfortable driver's seat with lumbar support. Love the flat bottom steering wheel since I drive with the seat up high not having to move the seat to get in or out is great. With the 6 speed tranny I keep forgetting that I'm driving a hybrid. And it has much more power than my old Prius. Like having the Android Auto but it has the tendency to disconnect when using Google Maps. Love being able to do voice to text. One thing that I find weird for a hatchback is there is no rear wiper. What's up with that Hyundai? Also with the hatch design, i wish it was flat access and not well style. Is much more difficult having to lift stuff out of the back instead of being able to pull it straight out. The only thing I miss about the Prius is the numerous storage compartments. I loved the double gloveboxes in the Prius. The center consultant is way too small in the Ioniq. My criticisms of the Ioniq are minor. I'm in love with the car. Extremely happy with my decision to get this car.

The best hybrid
I absolutely love my car. The IONIQ is the first car I’ve ever purchased on my own and I couldn’t have asked for a better car. The IONIQ gets the best gas mileage out of any hybrid and its somewhat cheaper than any other hybrid as well. It gets a combined 57 mpg and gets around 650 miles on a full tank. It gets better gas mileage than the Prius(it’s competitor) and also has way more features for the same/less price. I would also argue that it looks a lot better than the Prius as well, but that’s simply my own opinion. The 2019 IONIQ has so many features that I love: blind spot detection, lane assist, apple/android car play, and much more. Aside from other reviews, I would say the IONIQ is very comfortable to drive and has really good handling. It also has LOTS of cargo room, especially for a compact car. I would highly recommend this car to anyone who is thinking of buying a hybrid. Hyundai gives a lifetime warranty on the battery for their hybrid cars, in case anyone was ruling out a hybrid in fear of the battery going out. I thought about buying an IONIQ when they first came out in 2017 but never got around to it, but I finally bought one in 2019 and I’m so glad I did!!

I Love this car!
I have had my Ioniq since July of 2018. I Love driving it. Have 37,000 miles on it. I have averaged 56 mpg over the 20 plus months. But I do notice that the mileage drops about 15 to 20 percent when the average temperature is mid thirty’s or less. But I understand why. I can’t see out of my left eye and the blind spot outside mirror is GREAT.

Best Value in a Hybrid!
The Hyundai Ionic SEL gives you the most bang for your buck if you pick up the Technology package. The car rides very smoothly. This trim has all the safety features you could want on a car at a most reasonable price. The only negative is the split rear window makes it hard to see traffic behind you. This car even gives you Blind Spot Monitoring across all trim levels. How many other cars do that? If you're looking for a vehicle loaded with features you can't beat the Iionic!

Drove 4 days now it wont start **Update**
So, it's been a year since my initial review. Overall I am much happier. There have been no problems since the one below (whew!) My only disappointment is the low MPG in winter. I understand a hybrid will lose some at colder temps but when temps are between -20 & 30 I am getting high 30's to mid 40's. Summer MPG are awesome and at time I am exceeding the Max for a Limited (57 MPG!). i have experienced some noticeable slipping when the trams shifts. it doesnt happen often and otherwise seems strong. I am a high miles driver and after a year i have about 42k. Seems to be going good, I will drive until the wheels fall off! I had a 2019 Ioniq Select but decided to trade up to a 2019 Ioniq Limited. I drove it 4 days, 468 Miles and had to call Hyundai Roadside Assistance because it wouldn't start. Bluelink showed "System normal, everythings fine". It went in the shop 4 days after MLK day, and now they are telling me a part is on international backorder and I cant drive it until March(sometime)! What the heck! Dealer has been most helpful with loaner, but I paid a lot of money for a car I cant drive! The shop says they have at least two more Limited's experiencing the same problem. I live in Minnesota and I'm not sure, with the Polar Vortex, if I feel comfortable driving a vehicle that will die and not have heat because a silly relay failed. I have over 500k miles on other Hyundai cars so I will give them one shot to get it fixed

2019 ioniq blue
after 7000 miles mostly freeway, transmission is completely at a lose finding correct gear at any steeper hill or bridge. you will Not get advertises mileage at highway [70mph] speeds. interior is noisy back seat area.no jack for you to plug flat tire. you must use fill kit which will result in very costly bill to replace tire and pressure sensor. interior & exterior very nice. unless you drive constantly sirius radio not worth price. rather have CD instead. costly to have pay toplay radio that sits in drive way. still like this vehicle more that the Prius we had. maybe after another 6 K miles will get used to it. would recommend to buy, we live in Florida so flat land little hills for transmission to go nuts. not a good buy for hilly travel. good luck whatever your choice. Ioniq 2019, not what I expected
Bad Experience overall - Ioniq 2019, repetitive suspension issue, column shaft replacement, and transmission replacement. This is the third time my car has to go for a warranty issue. 1. October 2019, an issue with the suspension with less than 6K miles and in less than 6 months. Defective right rear shock, that was replaced. 2. March 2020, second service, again an issue, this time with a defective speaker that was replaced 3. February 2021 (three more issues on my third visit) Two major issues identified, with 21K miles. Steering wheel column/shaft replaced. The transmission will need to be replaced. Due to a grinding noise upon deceleration. It sounds terrible. - and, again the same suspension issue in the rear back with a popping noise coming from the rear right, that technicians and service team hasn't been able to identify the problem. I am not happy at all with my purchase, when I took the decision to buy a new car was because I didn't want to deal with stress, discomfort, and worries about my family's safety. I don't think this is normal for a car with less than 2 years of use, and less than 22K miles.

This is by far the best hybrid value out there. If you're into drag racing this car is not for you. Pro reviewers assume we all want "performance" cars. This is not a powerhouse. It gets you there in style and comfort and for less money. 60 mpg is good enough for me.

Great ride but mpg is not realistic
First, if you get the chance find a Ioniq with the Ultimate package. The benefits of this package for $2000 is well worth it. Second, the 55+ mpg is not realistic. I average 48 and sometimes 52 mpg. The Prius is a more realistic value to mpg. Otherwise, the Ioniq is a great vehicle with a better ride and feel than the Elantra and even the Sonata. Last, I bought my car I found through edmunds.com and wanted to thank you for the research and help finding the best price. In fact, I was able to get the extended warranty and negotiate the price down below the suggested retail price! Thanks again for the help.

Replaced my Prius with this and glad I did
It’s got so much more than a Prius for so much less money, it was almost unbelievable. For one thing, it’s silent, because the body is glued like an airplane fuselage, not welded. So if slips through the air like no Toyota can. It’s also got more horses in a smaller engine, and it eats a bit less gas than the Prius. Pickup is good on streets and on the highway, and passing is smooth and sure. The lane keep assist is helpful and easy to disengage. The blind spot radar is incredibly helpful - I keep it on all the time. The backup camera and warning system are also very helpful, and a necessity not included on the Prius unless you upgrade two trim levels (or over five thousand dollars). The base audio package was quite excellent and required no upgrading either. The built-in satellite 🛰 radio and the airplanelike soundproofing makes for concert hall level sound production— it’s like like taking a drive in a Bruce Springsteen concert!!! (One year update) still running silent and smart! Not a problem in sight! Drives as good as it did the day I bought it!

Great mileage
I really wanted to get a Chevy Cruze diesel, but availability and owners reviews really turned me off, especially when ALL the owners complained about the auto start/stop. And i am getting 58 mpg in town, which is better than the Chevy diesel, and i get about 55 mpg on the highway at 75. The ride and interior noise is about the same on all the small cars I tested, but the safety equipment and electronics with the 10 year warranty really sold me! I LOVE this car!!!

The worst thing ever.
U can not lay any electronics on the passenger seat. Tire literally, fell off the rim. Fuzzy back up camera. It’s a hatchback with no wipers. Mpg not close to 60. The car get stuck in park. The car accelerates unevenly. FYI i have contacted Hyundai for almost one year no return call.

Poor rear visibility
I test drove this car and felt real uncomfortable with rear visibility, especially through the rear window, which was too small for my taste and had that wide bar going through the middle of it. It is impossible to back up without using the camera. In my opinion, this car is too dangerous because of the blind spots.

Great car, way to go for a good while....
I'm trying my car but so far I'm having lots of fun. I leased because of the warranty, price and the possibility to change to a hybrid, and I'm in love with it. I'm having fun. Super safe car!

Like my Ioniq
The red paint is a very pretty shade. It had become our trip car over our Sonata Hybrid.
At last! The perfect Car!
Fabulously comfortable, 60mpg, bells and whistles galore! Alerts you if you’re getting close to the Lane line, when you flip on your turn signal it’ll beep if there’s a car in your blind spot. The Blue Link is amazing!

Hyundai IONIQ hybrid rocks!!!
Five years and still loving my IONIQ. It is just as peppy as the day it was new. The ride is still excellent and I'm still thoroughly enjoying my car. No rear issues except a catalytic converter error code, replaced under warranty. I am so happy that I chose this car.

Good
The car is good but there’s some things about the drive that you have to get use to from switching to a regular car to this hybrid. I’ve never driven another hybrid car so I can’t compare it to another hybrid but there was things that I had to get use to. Other than that, the car is great with great gas mileage. I went on a road trip and was averaging 54 mpg and it was on a slight incline with off and on traffic. I was still impressed.

Split Rear Windshields are too annoying
The major problem I had with the Ioniq was the rear window. The horizontal line that is formed where the hatch locks is too distracting to me.
Sporty for an old lady
I like the sportiness of the car, but it Is Too low to get into for me .I'm 80 years old I don't know Just sort of falling to it It's the only reason why I'm Thinking of changing cars
Picking min up May 17
I’ve been doing one for a while. Great and super economical car with great safety features. Acceleration bit slow but it delivers as they advertised

Overall Good Car
Good gas mileage particularly in summer 55-57. Drops 5-10 mpg in winter, gas engine needs to work. Using seat heat helps a lot. Drive in sports mode to heat engine faster and shift to auto if need more heat. To drive in sports mode accelerate responds good in freeway speeds and merge. Breaking in sports mode not very responsive, need increased distance to stop. fuel smell with sports mode driving at times. Had issues with backup camera screen will go blank, found radio was issue and replaced with warranty. Brake response is very bad compared to this segment of other cars, could be related to less weight of the vehicle and it feels like poor friction between tires and road-will definitely screech if break faster even 35-45 speed. It’s a compromise for mileage.
Excellent reliability, fuel economy, and value
Our Ionic Hybrid Hatchback has been trouble free from day 1. It cruises nicely at 80mph and the tech is good with CarPlay and Android. While it could have more acceleration power and acoustical insulation in back could be better, it’s very efficient getting 42-52mi/gal depending on the season and driving style, and has an incredible range of >625mi/tank. Definitely a good purchase for us.

Disappointing
I have a 2018 Hyundai ioniq nystec features when they work. But often don't Raleigh ride is very loud carshon's to wonder a lot. Reported several things to Hyundai directly no satisfaction or with the dealership overall big disappointment
