Used 2018 Hyundai Elantra Value Edition 4dr Sedan (2.0L 4cyl 6A) Consumer Reviews
Still Loving it!
Update: 77,000 miles and buy a single issue. The dealer replaces a worm shaft inside the steering column that was causing a scraping sound when turning the steering wheel. Fixed. Everything else still applies from my previous reviews. Bought new and I cannot believe I got this car for what I paid. Update: 57,000 and still loving it. Still no squeaks or rattles, shifts smoothly. Great gas mileage. Get all of my service recommendations and oil changes at the dealer. Thoroughly satisfied. I’ve owned the 2018 Value Edition for 14 mos and 26,000 miles. Not a squeak or rattle. I have to look at the dash and listen for the chime to make sure I’ve turned the car off. Yes it’s happened more than once, it’s so quiet. The Value Edition has a luxury feel with the leather steering wheel, heated seats, automatic climate control which is the best of any car I’ve owned. Sheer heaven in the winter on 76-78 auto with two ticks on the heated seats. You’ll not want to get out of it and face reality when you get to your destination, I promise! Summer all the coolness you need. Tested and approved in Las Vegas heat!! Blind spot monitoring and rear cross alert have saved me many a time. Average 38-40 mpg on my long commute. Always in ECO mode. Happy with power and comfort for this class. Perfect size car. I don’t feel like I’m in an econo box, nor do I feel like I’m sailing a boat. Purchase was based on a rental experience. I rent a lot of cars on trips bigger and more expensive sometimes, but I’m always glad to get back to the airport and into my Elantra. Tip, get the Value Edition or Limited if you can.

Would buy again *update wouldn't buy again*
Overall I am satisfied with this vehicle. This is my first new car so some of the issues I have with it may be standard. I really don't like the warning that pops up every time you start the car. Should be a way to disable it. It goes away by itself but still bugs me. I am not thrilled about the plastic on the dash and doors. It absorbs oil and dirt easily. Had some finger grease prints on the fuse cover in the cab from the dealer and had a blast trying to get that off. The car is touchy on the highway trying to go straight. Just the smallest movement of the steering wheel you are drifting to one side or the other. You can hear the road noise more then I would except at highway speeds. I couldn't find a place together in the manual that would tell me what all the beeps or noise coming from the car means. Like leaving the car running and taking the smart key with you. I would of like to see that all in one place. The car break in period in the manual needs more detail. Pretty much it says to keep between 2k and 4k rpm, not at one speed and don't break hard. Well its impossible to stay between 2k and 4k rpm in city driving, plus it says to do this for 600 miles. Imagine having to fight and automatic to stay in that range for 600 miles driving around the city. I am not a fan of using the Android app for music or calls but is nice to have for navigation. I use the Bluetooth for calls and music and that is nice. I wasn't sure I would like the keyless system but the more I use it the more I like it. I still wish there was a place for the key in case all else fails. Like you go swimming with the fob and it shorts out or the fob gets ran over and is toast. My favorite things about this car is how it looks (2019 has some changes I am not to fond of). The price was good with good included options. The gas mileage was a great selling point. The warranty is nice. This points I mention are just little things to think about. For me I can live with them and really do like this car. *update* One big issue that I didn't know about the car until it started getting cold outside. The car takes extremely long to warm-up. Around freezing its a fifteen minute warm-up just till the temputure gauge starts to move. This is a known issue for 2017/2018 Elantra's with TSB 18-HA-002 but since my car was made in Alabama its not covered. I been at dealers and in contact with Hyundai USA with no help. I am averaging 30MPG for mostly 80% highway due to warm-up time. If I would of known this issue and lack of support from manufacture I would of never purchased. After some time in the car I do like Andriod Auto. I like the Waze app over Google for navigation.

Lue’s review
Because it was late spring when I purchased this car I wasn’t thinking about driving it in the snow. My 2009 Hyundai Elantra did great in the snow. I could drive through 5 inches of it and be perfectly fine. It handled great in it. Because this car is so much lower and wider, it’s terrible in snow. The traction control must of came on 20 times on my way home from work with out first snow fall. It sounds crazy but I probably would have looked for a vehicle that was a little higher off the ground if I had thought of this. Otherwise is a good car so far. I was so fond of my last one that this one hasn’t yet grown on me. It handles great around turns. Lots of room, very comfortable. Never felt uncomfortable riding in the car for long road trips. Very stylish. There’s not that much storage space. Cup holders are limited.

Perfect! for its class
I only have 2 complaints...the city gas mileage is horrible and the MPG meter is not accurate. With that said, I LOVE my car. I needed an inexpensive car (the Value Edition with all the bells and whistles except leather for $16k) with the extras I like and good hwy gas mileage. Don't believe these other reviews that say they get 42 MPG on the hwy. Yes, the meter will say 40+, but my actual average sits right between 38 and 39 mpg. I stay at 5 mph over the speed limit. So if the limit is 70, I cruise at 75. Your mpg will increase if you stay at 60-65, it's just not sustainable for hours on end. I actually fill my tank and do the math with gallons bought and actual mileage. I bought my car 11/20/2017 (2018 model) and as of 6/6/2018 I have 48k miles. So I've had LOTS of gas fill ups and my average stands consistently. Actual city gas mileage is about 25 mpg. I don't drive crazy and 99% of the time it's in Eco mode. I LOVE the cargo space. No car in its class can beat the Elantra's value. Although I don't drive crazy, I have seen what it can do. It's a bit sluggish in Eco mode (especially with the AC on), but I'm ok with that because I want the higher gas mileage. In normal mode it's as good as any other car and responds with no hesitation. And when you find yourself needing that extra kick, Sport mode is awesome! The front seats could be more comfortable...but in its class, it's about par.

Great value Hyundai 2018 Elantra
Traded in my 2014 Elantra for 2018 Elantra. 2018 is roomier and newer technology I am enjoying such as Blindspot warning, larger LCD screen, better back up camera and lots more. I find it a little sluggish cimpared to 2014. This is my 3rd Hyundai. Great pricing and trade in from my dealership.
