leased the car...loved it
What a great car. It surprised me and got 40+ mpg on the highway. No major repair issues. starting to now need tires and brakes at just under 40,000 miles after having the car for 3.5 years. Great seats. Blue tooth technology hands free worked great including voice texting. I'd keep it if it wasn't time to return it to home. Def considering another Elantra. For the fuel economy, price, loaded with features, it's a great car that surpasses others in its field.

Finally....... Elantra at a good price!
Coming from small cars, I no longer have to apologize to the 3 people in the back seat. Elantra has 54.8 inches of rear seat shoulder width! No gas powered car getting almost 40mpg, OR weighing up to 300 pounds more than Elantra, OR less than 70+ inches of exterior width has it. Yep! 3 people in the back of a smaller car don't have to bruise each other's arms, any more. MPG? Yep. Just laid down 43mpg with 3 people, a/c, & 3.5 hours of cooling engine time. Took it on my favorite valley back country trip & the trip computer indicated 49-50mpg. Of course, heavy town or city traffic knocks that nice number down a lot.

Love my Elantra! :)
Purchased my Elantra in July and so far I love every bit of the car. With the stock hankooks the interior noise was pretty audible, especially at speeds over 55 mph. Just recently I switched over to new Continental Extreme Contact DWS tires and road noise is almost eliminated. I named my Elantra Serenity since her ride is very peaceful and relaxing. For being a commuter car, the Elantra is quite peppy when pushed. I'm impressed with the fuel economy, currently at 33.5 mpg average, which is higher then the EPA rating. I also drive without the active ECO feature. My gps has an instant mpg readout and at 70 mph it reads from 39-45+ mpg depending on how flat the road is.
Blind spots
Car has blind spots in the front and rear. In the front the side posts hid an 18 wheeler. Small rear view window with blind spots. When backing have almost hit many cars due to large rear window posts and small window. My only accident in over 30 years was backing into a parked car which was hidden the entire time by the right side rear window post. Had to get a pillow to sit on since the seat has a low driver pitch that when on a long trip my right leg would fall asleep due to the strain from the seat belt pressure.

Mediocre with some big disappointments
Overall, the car is "OK" but I will not be a repeat Hyundai buyer. I have the Limited and it has nice convenience features. However, the gas mileage has been a huge disappointment - not even close to the advertised levels. (And yes, my tires are properly inflated, filters and sensors are clean and I don't drive hard.) Also, in the winter months - every time I encounter a pothole - I create a blister in the sidewall of the tire. I've had to replace all four tires way before normal wear would dictate. The other disappointment is the poor handling in bad weather. Obviously the car is light but driving in any kind of snow is more treacherous than it should be.
