Very happy
We just bought the car last weekend, and we took it for a trip yesterday. We are very pleased with the comfort, fuel economy and the performance of it. We were travelling on a two lane road and when it was time to pass, it got up and went, no holding it back. The comfort is very pleasing, we constantly have to watch the speedometer to make sure we are not speeding. I would advise anyone to look at this car.
Cheers for Elantra GT
I have had my GT for a year now and I couldn't be happier with it. I have returned to the dealership only once and that was for a recall notice. Even the usual "little things" that accompany a new vehicle have not appeared.

I love my Elantra
I just bought my Elantra, and I love it. I had a Mazda Protege for 9 yrs and rode a Toyota Corolla for a short period of time and I must say I love the Elantra the best. Even my sister who commutes with me to work daily, feels the Elantra is much more attractive than the 2003 Corolla I was driving and 10 x better than the 1995 Mazda I had for the last 9 yrs. I have no regrets in buying this car. The price is no comparison to the value.
WOW
This is my first Hyundai. Matter of fact my first car (I've always driven trucks). I love it!
Happy with my first Hyundai
Nice car inside and out. Researched this for awhile and nothing else touches it for the price.
My Hyundai Elantra
My brother recommended this vechicle to me and I purchased it. Well I am not disappointed! This car has done everything I had expected it to do and then some. Plenty of pick-up, GAs milwage id wonderful. and comfort is awsome for a compact car. Hyundai has used quality parts, Fit and finish is as good as my Toyota, I will get one for my Daughter these cars are just to good to let it go by where can I get a well built car for under 13,000 dollars. and a 100,000 mileae warrenty to boot. Keep it up Hyundai, you sold me and I will sell others as well. One happy Hyundai owner
Rent a vehicle before you buy
We had to rent a car when our son came home on leave from the army. As luck would have it, we got stuck with an Elantra. What a find. We bought a 2004 in April. It drives as well as our Buick Century (2001). I do agree though with people claiming lack of quality in the paint. We already have scratches that have penatrated the clear coat and the paint. Nothing like that on the Buick.
Great Car
Our 04 Elantra was a great car for us. Unfortunately, it just got totaled after an accident. It was very reliable for us and we put minimal money into it outside of maintenance. We would definitely buy another one. It was our first car but will also probably be the best car we ever buy.
A great gas sipper
This car has been a great change from our GMC 14mpg mini-van. We took our first road trip and pulled 32mpg w/a.c. on. I'm 6'2" and have plenty of leg/head room, my wife is 5'1" and can pull up w/in easy reach. The trunk can fit quite a bit. 48qt cooler,2 sleeping bags/pillows,6 man tent,2 chairs and some toys for the kids. The seats are comfortable but not cushy. Our longest sit has been 3hrs w/one rest stop, a little stiff for that long. For around town and short jaunts it's great. I would recommend this car to anyone looking for style, affordability and a great warranty package.
I've just bought a terrific Elantra
After my parked 98 Accord was totaled by a reckless driver that was driving too fast my heart broke. I thought nothing would be able to replace the Accord. However the moment I test drove the 2004 Elantra it felt right. I felt so comfortable and safe driving it, I had to get it!!!! The exterior/interior are very classy looking and i've been getting tons of compliments on it!!!! Lauren
bank holding title
I am very happy with this vehicle makes me feel secure while driving in this crazy highways which I do quite often I thank my children for having bought this vehicle for last year's mothers day quite a present I would say keep the good work Hyundai
Elantra GT
Handles like a sports car. Ride is a bit stiffer than an Elantra sedan, but to be expected. Peppy 2.0 liter engine. Adequate trunk space. Good stereo system. Leather seats are comfortable and durable. Moonroof seals well. All in all, well worth the money and a serious look.
Best Hatchback Buy
The Elantra GT is the best value in the compact 5-door class, at least $3000 less than other cars with comparable equipment. It is a solid, comfortable car with a good blend of ride and handling, excellent driving position, and roomy cargo area. This is my second Elantra and I am very satisfied thus far.
Eric's review of 2004 Hyundai Elantra GT
Handles very well, very responsive to driver's commands. Decent gas mileage. Awesome sticker price after rebates. Only 140 hp, but because the car is so light, it accelerates quickly. Very comfortable interior with perforated leather being standard. Lots of goodies installed. Fun to drive!
Fantastic
This car handles great in the snow, as I live in the east and we have had qquite a few snow storms. The inside in very quite and the car runs like a dream. I get 270 miles to a full tank of gas but that is both Highway and city driving. Teh car comes with electronic wondows and door locks as well as keyless entry.
WHAT A CAR!
I bought this car for my mom on mothers day. I bought it cause of ratings and the price. I was so impressed by the performance and looks of this car that I traded in my galant and got a second one. The balance of looks, warranty, and performance makes all other so called better imports nothing more than a pricier elantra wannabes. This car has me hooked and change the outlook of Hyundai in my eyes. My fiancee also plans on trading in her civic in this weekend. Happy mothers day mom!
elantra
Drove from Massachusetts to Florida, have taken a 6 hour trip since then, and joy riding with my friends. With all of that since June the only problem I've had is the brake pads (understandable) and and windshield problem, which is being worked out now. Good car.
Very Happy Consumer
I purchased this vehicle because I needed something reliable, yet sporty to drive. Fuel economy was also important. I needed a 4 door vehicle and was initially looking at a used Camry. I found the Hyundai for roughly the same price, and considering the warranty it convinced me to buy a Hyundai. I have not yet had any problems with my vehicle and am happy with the overall styling. The stereo looks nice, but the quality of speakers could be bumped up a bit. The biggest downfall of this car would be the acceleration, which I crave a lot of, but considering the other benefits of the car, I can deal with the slight dissappointment. Highly reccommended purchase.
My new Elantra
I took my new Elantra out for the first time, after signing the paperwork, in the middle of a snow storm. Experiencing the way this 5- speed handled in bad weather confirmed my suspicions, trading my old Elantra for a new one was a great move. I've owned Hyundais for a lot of years now and even sold them for a while and would recommend the Hyundai product line to anyone looking for a finely engineered, reliable, well warranteed and inexpensive vehicle.
Elantra Sedan
Purchased an '04 preowned Elantra with only 10K miles and saved even thousands more for a really nice car. Comfortable, secure, good mileage, love it.
Great car for the money
I like the fact that we got a good four door car for less than other cars with a great warranty. We looked at Kia's and Hyundai had better standard features. Hyundai matched and beat Kia by $700, how can you turn that down? Power locks and windows and A/C standard, can't beat that!
Great little car
Very satisfied with this car. Highly recommend it. Very functional and versatile
My New Toy
I just bought my first Hyundai. I was in a Malibu 2 times prior to this purchase. I wasn't too keen on the Hyundai's but I saw this one and test drove it since my budget didn't allow for much I kept an open mind. I was pleasantly surprised!! It's perky, and it handles very well on tight curves and it bad weather.I love all the gadgets that came with it. So far I am very happy with my Hyundai Elantra GT.
save gas in style
Just a fun car to drive, my other car is 3/4 ton pick-up so you can see y i like this car half the gas twice the fun. Luv it
Great Car
I really like my car. No major issues. I had car break down but Garden Grove Hyundai took care of it and it was covered under warranty. I would definitely buy another Hyundai. Very dependable and worth the money. I seem to not get as good mileage as they claim but still overly happy with vehicle.
My Hyundai :-)
My Atlantra is just a fantastic car, Ifeel I am getting much more vechical then what I paid for, It is well built, Has plenty of Power, Ride is Sporty and secured. Just a great car, and Yes I would buy another one.
Excellant Small Car for the Money
This car was purchased for my daughter who will be going off to college and for the money was an extremly good value. We looked at the Saturn ION, Ford Focus and Nissan Sentra and based on the overall price and features this car wins hands down.
Best $14,000 I've ever spent
A great car for the money. It feels like a much more expensive car then it is.
Little things don't work
Great gas mileage, neat 5 speed, alittle gutless, overall turning radius is fine (u-Turn) on a normal street works, however it's the taillight that won't operate replaced it 5 times, not the buld, and the headlights, do not last. this is my 5th replacement, I'm a courier, so I never shut off the car from morning to night, saves on starter motor, and all the other pertinent parts, only lose about 4 mpg so instead of 30, I get about 25-26. not too shabby for a 2001, with 168000 miles so far
Great Value
There is no way you'll find a car with more to offer in this price class. Excellent interior design, and lots of standard features.
Loving it so far.
I've had my Elantra GT for just under a year now.I bought it used for about $11K last May 2005 with 35,000 miles on it. It's fully loaded with sunroof, traction control, Kenwood CD Stereo w/ detachable face. No way I would have gotten so much for such that price from the other cars I was considering (Golf, Matrix, Protege, Saturn).I've got just over 52,000 miles on it now. I love this car. I drive 75 miles a day to get to work and driving around Chicago streets and highways is so much more comfortable. Cargo space is excellent for the size of the car. Only problem, that recently popped up, is with cruise control switch which was replaced by the warranty. Just regular maintanence so far
Great Car!!!
I love this car more than my previous 99 Honda Accord. I don't think there is much to improve upon this car. Gas mileage is awesome and the car is very comfortable.
This is a great car
After 99500 miles, this has been a great car - fun to drive, reliable, economical. The only repair I have ever paid for on our three Elantras was an oxygen sensor on this one. I replaced the rear brakes once (still OEM in front)and the tires twice (only got 35000 miles from the second set). Gas mileage is great, power is great, 5-speed shifts nicely.
What a bargain!
This car is an excellent value. Loaded w/ features and comfortable for a family of 4. Hyundai can't be paying the Koreans enough if they are making a profit off this car!
One of the best
I like the price -- $15000 out the door has everything on it...
Excellent value
I have had this car for a year, and I love it. It's fun to drive, VERY comfortable on long road trips, and great on gas. There is TONS of storage space when the back seat is folded down. My only complaints are the bad paint quality (it's already chipping) and the cheap sun visors (the mirror cover-flap has fallen off TWICE, even after being replaced with a brand new
Good, sharp looking car
We've had our Elantra VE for a month now, and it has been great so far. The car seems solidly built, the engine is smooth and has decent power. The suspension is a good compromise between sporty and a smooth ride. We like the large trunk space and the materials for the seats. The dash is clearly laid out and has the imporant information on it. Fuel economy is good, not great. Comparing this to my sisters 04 Corolla, I think we got the better car for our dollar. For the price we got all the power options and a great warranty. Interior room is similar in the two, This is the first non-GM I've bought and so far am happy with the purchase.Financing 0.9% for 72mos
Watch it fly!
I purchased my Elantra in July 2004 and have been delighted with it. The only thing I wish I'd done is upgraded the handling package. Living in the mountains the extra traction would have been nice. But boy, does it ever fly up that hill!
The Little GT That Could
I've had the car for about a month and I love it! I'm glad I did my research before assuming this car was junk just because it's a Hyundai. If you notice, there aren't many on the road which makes me feel good. It's great not to be a sheep and follow everyone else to the Honda, Nissan and Toyota dealers. I'm a lifer for Hyundai!
Great Little Car
I bought my Elantra as a little commuter car to drive to work instead of a truck. I am very happy with this little car. It is surprisingly peppy and fun to drive. It sounds like a sports car in sheep's clothing. For the price you can't beat it. I'm amazed they are not flying of the lots... but had I not come out to Edmunds I might not have ever looked at them. Compared to a Honda or Toyota you get a whole lot more Bang for the buck.
hyundai elentra -2004
Car is very relaible, handles well- fairly comfortable to drive. Needs more power on hilly roads but if you use cruise control on hills it does fine. Get 33 mpg on trips but get similar results from my 2002 camry.Great car for the money
Hyundai review
great value for the money with many options (e.g. traction control, 6 speakers not available on other compacts in same class)
I Love my Elantra
My Elantra is fun to drive, stylish, great on gas and roomy. Excellent value. I would definately purchase another Hyundai.
A very Very Happy Customer
I bought my oldest daughter an elantra in 2002 for her high school graduation present she was leaving for college and I liked the warranty. But after her driving it for 2 yrs and no warranty claims and the satisfaction she got and the peace of mind I got I bought my other daughter a 2004 Elantra for her High School Graduation Present. When I get the 2002 paid off I'm going to buy my wife the sharp looking SUV that Hyundai has to offer. Thank-You Hyundai for putting the customer first.
Great Car for the price
I recently bought the Hyundai Elantra 4 dr GT hatchback. I found this car is much better than the Elantra I bought back in 2000. Much better suspension, much better handling on the curves. Comes with an MP3 player standard. I love this car! The seats are very comfy and adjustable with lumbar support. All leather interior. You have to take one for a test drive! The only thing I don't like about it is where the cup holders are placed. Pretty minor.
Hyundai Elantra
I love my car!
hyaundi - the right stuff
inexpensive, yet doesn't feel cheap.reliable.a great car for someone who racks up the miles quickly.highly reccommended
great car
I've owned it for only a little while and love to drive it. when you look at what other company's are offering in this price range and what you get with a gt elantra it's a no brainer. Thats even without the warrenty.
Bang for the Buck? - Oh yeah.
Well I've driven pick-up trucks for the past 12 years so this small sedan is a bit of a departure for me. My wife did have a 99 Nissan Maixma SE for a few years, and while this would never be confused with a Maxima, it is fun. So far I love the way it drives. It's effortless. It dives into corners and zips through traffic. Basically for the money it can't be beat. I had looked at the Mazda 3s and to get it with the same features as the Elantra GT would have cost 4-5K more. The Nissan Sentra is... well a Sentra. The Hyundai warranty is simply the best.
Satisfied Elantra Owner
Have had Chrysler, GM, Honda and Toyota cars, as well as one of first Sonatas sold in this country. The Sonata was in the middle of the stack in terms of quality, but towards the low end. However, it appears as though Hyundai has made a lot of quality improvements on its more recent vehicles. With 13,000+ miles on it, the Elantra has thus far been a trouble free car, and has been an easy car to get into and out of, as well as drive, for this 6'2" driver.
