crap entertainment and touch screen
Do not buy this unless if you can live with crap entertainment system. Very poor metal cone like sound, smudge touch screen. Biggest issue is entertainment turns off when we stop engine from running. When starting engine, all blue ray unit will start the track from beginning. These vehicles are use for long trips. when having a break and starting again, blue ray also start running from beginning. My family hate this thing. Also would you believe it can only play USB drive when only engine is not running. Soon as engine starts, it says cannot read. Very poor quality.

Chronic problems with BlueTooth and Audio System
I purchased my Honda Pilot brand new in January. Within two weeks I started getting error messages on the audio system and the bluetooth system does not work regularly - frequently I get a message saying the the car can not find a phone to connect to - even though the BlueTooth on my phone is turned on and the phone is plugged into the car. I have spent 7 months trying to get Honda to fix this but they can not seem to figure it out - they have told me that many Pilot owners are experiencing the same issue but they do not yet have a solution. I purchased this car for the Hands Free Technology and since it is not working regularly I am in the process of asking Honda to refund my car.

Update after 2 years: no more love for this car
Update number 2: At 40k miles the transmission was replaced by the dealership under the extended warranty. The new transmission had the same bad behavior as the first, albeit with no squeaks. I sold the car shortly after. Honda lost me as a customer, likely permanently. Update: I have now owned the car almost two years. I would likely not buy another Pilot until they update the transmission. First to second is slow to shift and not smooth, there are times it take 5 seconds to go from reverse to drive, and it can be very slow to downshift. I also get a slow speed downshift squeak that is repeatable but the dealership can’t fix. I have had some minor other issues with the stereo (random clicking and popping) and a squeaky drivers side door during driving. The start stop feature is terribly implemented and it annoys me that I cannot permanently disable it. This could be a great car but Honda chose gas mileage above drivability. The transmission is a deal killer and would keep away from any car with the horrible ZF 9 speed. I will reconsider driving one when the new 10 speed is implemented. On a non Typical note for Honda- why in the world would they implement a navigation system that has audio notifications of traffic when the navigation system is off? It makes the stereo randomly beep for no reason even if the traffic is many miles ahead. Stupidest engineering choice I have seen in a vehicle in a long time. Original: After two weeks of ownership I have virtually no buyers remorse. I feel I must preface this review by stating that it is based in comparison off my previous vehicle, a 2010 Audi Q5 3.2, which was a great car with virtually no issues at 92k miles. This car is vastly different, but that is ok. It is big. In fact, surprising big for most people who have seen it. There really is a ton of room, recently taken 4 tall young adults and 2 parents on a two hour trip with no complaints, even from the third row. The ride is on the soft side, but I knew this was not going to a sporty small German SUV. You can feel the weight through turns but there is minimal body lean and the extra weight makes this thing a exemplary freeway cruiser. It is far quieter than the Audi and the chassis seems more solid with far less shutter with sudden bumps in the road. The interior materials are fine for the most part. I would have liked some wood in the touring model and the piano black gloss trim picks up fingerprints (and I foresee lots of scratches in the future) but otherwise things are soft with little ultra hard plastic. The engine and transmission combo is interesting but I dont find it as bad as some of the magazines have found it to be. Maybe I have a new software version but things generally run smoothly but, given the 9 speeds, it does shift a lot. I have found no issues during deceleration, but around 40-45 and 55-60, the ratios seem like they are too close. Unfortunately, those are common speeds and so if feels like it is searching a bit. The shifts are not abrasive, just frequent. The first gear is also really tall and takes some getting used to. I have found the eco mode to be way too blunted and has earned the nickname "grandma mode" only to be used cruising on flat highways with cruise control on. With eco off, things are fine but you do have to dive deep on the pedal to get any real acceleration. I do wish the sport mode was more sporty. It doesnt seem to alter the throttle response much and just seems to want to hold 2 gears lower than it normally would. In the Audi, sport mode would totally change the demeanor of this vehicle. Increase throttle response, make more aggressive shifting, and hold the appropriate gear longer (and not forever). You can kind of replicate it with the paddles, but I do miss how the Audi was tuned and its too bad here, because this has a great engine. The only regret is probably not splurging for the AWD. The power pretty easily overtakes friction under load and there is mild understeer. I do get great mileage (averaging 26mpg) in mostly SoCal freeway driving. That's 2 mpg better than I was getting in the Audi. The infotainment is fine, but would have been better with at least one knob for volume and power. No Android/Apple play is a bummer in a vehicle this new and expensive and even though it uses a android based system, the ability to add apps is limited to what Honda will allow you to install, which is right now limited to iHeartRadio. I would love to install Waze or Pandora or access one of the app stores from the browser. Overall, its a great vehicle with some small quirks but hits a sweet spot with size, capability, and performance. They will likely sell a ton.

Great SUV for the money
Pros: Very quiet, smooth riding, handles good for an SUV, high quality interior, fit and finish, loads of interior room, excellent sound system, lots of safety features, can surf the web and watch Youtube videos. Cons: Hondalink doesn't work more often than not, bluetooth drops out occasionally, Wi-fi doesn't always connect to phone (tethering), gas cap cover doesn't fit correctly, no dual exhaust tips, 9 speed transmission acts hesitatingly at low speeds and when downshifting going downhill. Overall, this car is expensive (Elite model), but you get more for your money than most other SUV's. This SUV is actually fun to drive like most Honda's are. It is very quiet and smooth riding on smooth roads. Rough roads, not so much. It is actually quieter than my Mercedes. No car is perfect but this one comes pretty close. I love this car.

FM RADIO fades in and out constantly!
First off I was told Android auto would work with the 2016 Honda pilot which was not true and secondly the FM radio fades in and out constantly no matter what frequency that you have it on. Its no reception issue. Its not the speed value control. I have taking back to the dealer twice and they cant do anything until Honda Corporation figure it out?
