Used 2010 Honda Insight LX 4dr Hatchback (1.3L 4cyl gas/electric mild hybrid CVT) Consumer Reviews
The Silver Bullet
I love my Insight. My friend at work calls it " the silver bullet". My 70 mile round trip commute is part rural hills and part level road at 55mph. The first tank was 47 mpg but the readout on the dash says average of 50.3mpg. It is not a sports car, SUV or truck. We have all of those at home but it is a great commuter car and grocery hauler.
I love the Insight
I've had the Insight for about three weeks now and I really do love it. Over the first 1,000 miles I've achieved an average of 51 miles per gallon without really trying. The only thing I've had to do differently is slow down from my pre-Insight speed of 75 on the highway. I live in the Midwest and my commute is not very hilly. At a speed of 65 MPH I am getting 50 MPG. I have not yet had to use the A/C or the heat, which I expect will bring down the numbers come summer and winter. The auto-stop feature is great on gas, but takes a while to get used to. The gas kicks back on when you release the brake and the result can be a jerky response at the line if you hit the gas too quickly.

Great gas saver
I used to drive a 300hp Subaru loved that car but I was spending $200 a month on fuel, so I decided to buy me a hybrid to save some $, well now fuel costs me $80, can't beat that. I have no regrets, I love the car design, build quality, it's all great. Performance-wise I mean come on it's a hybrid I did not expect a race car perf. The car is great at saving money, I know some people say that they are getting 56mpg but in reality you will most likely see more like 44mpg, my best was 45mpg at average speed of 70mph, although computer said I did 49mpg. The one thing about my Insight that I love is that it's not a Prius. I saw one Insight so far and I live in Chicago area. Love my Insight.
One of my favorite cars for the money!
A great 2nd car. The model is no longer made, but if it was I would purchase it.

Nice for the price but needs improvement
Very low depreciation makes lease payments as low as much cheaper entry level vehicles. Build quality is better then other cars under $20k but still needs improvement. The rubber weather strip molding along the roof keep falling off. The body panels seem to be very delicate. Just stare at them and they'll get a ding. I feel like it won't age well. The paint finish is just OK. I noticed several imperfections while waxing it. The interior is nice but again, doesn't seem to be hard wearing. The Auto Stop is annoying and despite the many custom settings in the computer, it cannot be disabled. Steering wheel blocks the view of the digital speedo.
