Always wanted a hybrid, by default that meant the Prius. Test drove both in one day (within an hour-highly recommend). Insight surprised spouse and me--we both loved it WAY more than Prius. Very easy and user friendly displays, love the instant MPG color feedback. Very good pick-up, can zip around quickly, never guess it's a hybrid. I leave it in Eco Mode all the time. Start/stop driving: I get ~43- 45 mpg with regular driving style, 49- 50 with some effort to "green" my driving style :) On the highway up to 55 mpg with little effort. I LOVE this car. Never thought I'd like anything better than my 2003 Jetta. But I DO!
Much better MPG than EPA ratings!

Just filled up for the first time-better than 44 mpg (actual) since new 370 miles). My other car is a 2003 Jetta TDI. The Insight is different-it lacks the outstanding road feel of the VW, but is much smoother and less noisy. Fun to drive, great gadgetry (nav with bluetooth link). Decent road feel and handling.

EPA says 43/40 MPG, I get after 2k miles 45.6 with AC on and NO hypermiling! Economode is on 75% of the time! Fun car to drive, economical and a Honda so you cant go wrong!

Just over 1100 miles-averaging 47 mpg in a 70/30 highway/city mix. Much quieter than my 2003 Jetta TDI. I cruise @ 65 mph on the highway-impressive economy,reasonable pick-up, fun to drive. Drivers seat is excellent. Well finished. Smoother than the TDI. Lacks the incredible road feel of the VW, but has its own distinct quality-not as direct/secure, but very confident. Was going to buy a Prius(a much more sophisticated engineering marvel), but did not like being insulated from the driving experience.
It's a good car. Period.

I compared the I2 to a number of other compact cars in the sub-$20k range. It drives better than any other car except for the Honda Fit. The driving feel is nearly as solid as the Saab 9-3 I own, except of course for the lack of 90 extra horses and no turbo. It's also a lot quieter on the inside than the hodgepodge of cars I've owned previously (I know several magazines said the interior is noisy -maybe compared to a Lexus?). Though it's not as tall as the Fit, with less cargo volume, the I2 can fit longer items which is useful for me. The so-called blind spot doesn't bother me -it's negated by the giant mirrors. Take the I2 on its merits as a car and the only competitor is the Fit.
