Hard to find any fault

I have had numerous Honda's. Last Accord being a 2003. Had went to a 2012 Fit Sport after that Accord, wanting something different, good car, but missed the Accord. Lots of smiles per miles in my new Accord. Hard to find any faults. EX-L. Was a little leary of a CVT transmission, having heard Car and Driver say they did not like them for years, but they said they liked this one, so I gave it a try. Pleasantly surprised with how much I like the CVT. The Fit had a 5-speed manual. I have had the 2014 Accord for a couple months and would buy again without hesitation.

Extremely disappointing - wish I'd not bought

2014 Honda Accord EX 4dr Sedan (2.4L 4cyl 6M)

I've owned Hondas for the last 22 years and have had good enough experiences with them to keep buying the brand. This is my third Accord, and will be my last Honda. I don't have a lot of money, and saved for years for the purchase of another car when the time came that my 2003 Accord finally was done. I'm devastated that I spent all my savings on this horribly uncomfortable, disappointing hunk of junk (bought as a CPO with 36K miles in Nov of 2017). The Accord has changed so much over the years, and most of it not for the better! My biggest complaint by far is the terrible discomfort of the seats. I don't have any neck, back or hip problems - except when I drive this car for more than 30 minutes. The discomfort becomes intolerable after about an hour. The driver's seat is like sitting on a stone bench - no amount of adjustment helps. I've tried several different items intended to increase comfort (back pillows, wedges, etc., even bed pillows), to no avail. As another reviewer mentioned, I also had to pull out the awful head "restraint" and flip it around backwards to keep it from pushing my head down toward my chin. While that gives me little relief overall, it at least makes the car driveable. The ride is pretty rough - which makes the hard, uncomfortable seats an even worse issue. Hate the CVT and all its droning and whining. My gas mileage in the city where I do 98% of my driving is horrible, and I'm not a harsh driver - my 2003 Accord got better gas mileage, even with 180k miles on it and an oil burning problem! This is really just a terrible car without anything much in the way of redeeming qualities. I've tried several times to get rid of it after 3 and 1/2 long and dreadful months of owning it, but it has turned out to be worth so much less in trade than I paid for it, that I can't find anything to replace it with that would be affordable. The other recent Honda models I've driven in my quest to unload this beast feature equally hard and uncomfortable seats. I'm done with Honda, but I'm left sucking it up and driving this mess for now until I can save up more cash and/or find something used that's decently low mileage and affordable with the pittance I'm going to be able to trade/sell this for. I would give anything go back in time and just have my broken down 2003 Accord back. Seems to be a lot of these 2014 Accords out there for sale that came off leases in the latter half of 2017 - so buyer beware of how painful this car is!!

50,000 miles and still the best

Update - lease was up so it is gone now- but still the most economical, trouble free car with a dash of fun I ever owned. But you can't get up trims with the manual transmission so now I have an Infiniti Q50 3.0 twin turbo AWD. I did a review at about 15000 miles and now I have over 50000 miles on my 2014 Accord EX so I thought I would share an update. As far as the engine and manual transmission, both are still silky smooth and gas mileage easily exceeds the EPA estimates. The interior is holding up well other than the clutch pedal which has worn through to the metal on one side. I replaced the OEM tires at 40000 miles with softer rubber and the ride vastly improved, the original tires were bias towards fuel savings and also didn’t have the road handling abilities of the replacements. On the outside she has acquired a bit of road rash, but nothing that is the fault of the car. Overall, I still highly recommend the 2014 Accord Ex with a manual transmission. The combination of performance, gas mileage, room can’t be matched. The car is a great value. Oh, and it’s never been in need of a single repair or recall.

Premium Vehicle for Non Premium Price

This is my 2nd Honda Accord and 4th Honda overall since 1990 and this is surely the best one yet. I started looking around a year ago to replace my 02 Accord and really wanted something different. I took a hard look at the Nissan Altima but there were numerous consumer reviews complaining about transmission issues and overall workmanship. At the end of my research I decided I would buy another Accord and I am very happy I did. The included features, design, MPG, quality, performance, and consumer and professional reviews made it a no brainer that the Accord was a class leader. The car handles very well on the road, the CVT is silky smooth, and the interior is very comfortable.

Unreliable! One problem after another!

Car started having intermittent starting problems at 30,000 miles (key start). What good is a car that doesn't always start and leaves you stranded? Google 2014 Accord starting problems and you will see hundreds and hundreds of the same complaints in cars with low mileage! Honda KNOWS THEY HAVE AN ISSUE WITH THE STARTERS IN THESE CARS, BUT REFUSES TO RECALL THE STARTERS. Then they want approx $900 to replace the starter! The car has poor paint which easily chips, lots of road noise, uncomfortable seats and air leaks in by the passenger door blowing cold air at your hip in the winter. The temp controls are poor. The air conditioning is not very cold, either. I don't expect any car to be perfect and could live with some of these flaws. But, not with a car that doesn't start! I used to believe that Hondas were reliable cars and that Honda backed their cars...not any more! This car is way over-priced for the quality of the vehicle. Update February 2021: Honda has a recall on this model Accord for having drive shafts which could BREAK due to corrosion. Just had my car inspected and both drive shafts were extremely rusty and had to be replaced (car has 34,000 miles on it). Scary to know I had been driving around on parts that could break which cause me to lose control of my car! This is the second recall on this car...the first was for a battery sensor which needed to be replaced to prevent engine fire. Safe and reliable car? NOT! This was my first Honda and it will be my last! Update 2021: Rear brakes needed completely redone at only 35,000 miles. This included needing new calipers which rusted out prematurely.
