Great Urban and Suburban Mileage
I will have had my Accord Hybrid EX-L four weeks tomorrow. I was expecting to buy a Fusion Hybrid last year, but by the time I was able to test drive one in January, reports of mileage far below the EPA ratings were coming out, so I decided to wait for the new Accord Hybrid. I was able to test drive one within a week of release; as soon as I drove it, I knew it was the car I wanted. I had been driving an Acura TL for 9+ years, so the Accord felt somewhat familiar to me. I have not been disappointed in my decision. The car is very nicely finished, handles well, and acceleration is better than expected. The seats are quite comfortable. We have averaged about 48 mpg driving locally.
Wonderful past 73K miles
After over three years and 73K miles, I love this car. I reliably get over 50mpg from April through October (Pennsylvania) and about 48-49 during winter, except when the temperature s in the teens or lower (can be as low as 39mpg on a given trip). I just replaced the Michelin energy saver tires for the first time (got 72K miles out of them). In the last months on old tires, I was averaging 54mpg, but this dropped to 52 mpg with the new Michelin tires. Best mpg is seen when driving longer distances, such as my 50 mile commute to work, where I see 54-60mpg on any given commute. The trick to maximizing mpg is utilizing the gas engine when accelerating and reserving battery use for maintaining speed on flat and downhill road. Avoid potholes and rough road areas to maximize roll efficiency. The interior leather and all electronics have held up well, and I have only been to the garage for inspections and oil changes (which are required every 10-11K). I have put a couple scratches on the alloy tire rims parallel parking, but other than this, the exterior is like new. The LED headlights are fabulously bright, although I do occasionally have oncoming cars think that my brights are on (there are two low beams on each side of the car).

Exceptional Gas Mileage
I've owned my Accord Hybrid for well over a year. I have 17k miles on it. I've keep track of my mileage and record it every fillup. Honda is right on the mark with the mileage claims for this vehicle. Yes, it is true that cold weather takes a toll on the mileage in the short term; as does cruising above 70 mph continuously. Pre-heating or cooling the interior, ditto. It's all in how you drive it. My "real world" mileage is exactly what was advertised if you combine the extraordinary summer mileage (55+) with the still impressive (42+-) cold weather mileage and average it. It works for me, and I take no heroic measures to accomplish this. Honda did their homework on this car, and it's true.
Review from a satisfied customer.
I purchased my Accord in January. I commute to work with it daily, and we use it for road trips whenever we can. Despite what a few individuals in the automotive press are saying, this Accord DOES achieve the EPA mileage stated of 47mpg highway / 50 city. As an actual owner, I can truthfully state this is the case. If anything, the EPA mpg estimates are LOW, as I've been able to get far better mileage without any special effort on my part. Two things will affect the mileage you get with this car: cold weather, and running the A/C climate controls in manual. Best to use Automatic.
LEGEND OF 21ST CENTURY
I got this car 2 weeks ago it amazing to say the least . I got 52 mpg on a 64 mile trip, on small hwy , with stop an go sometimes 4 way stop signs I posted a 2 minute video, you can watch it in my link . Search you tube ' physics honda hybrid' The system is very smart. And you can run on ev mode when the battery is full in city. This trip is on hilly roads. One trip on interstate I got 37mpg, but it was cold and I pushed the car. When you switch the Econo button off the car feels so powerful and fast. Acura dampers make the car feel luxury and sporty. The change between driving modes is seamless but I do feel when engine mode kicks inn. No doubt this the best hybrid in the market now.
2014 Accord Hybrid Great Ride
I purchased when Accord Hybrids were new in fall of 2014, in Wisconsin. Sticker price 36k with navigation. Purchased for about 33k. Not a great discount but nobody had them in stock. That's OK. First wave buyers accept that. Mileage is about 43-44 in nice-moderate weather. Drops to 38 in winter cold. Now that the car is over a year old, I thought I'd share my impressions. I'm glad I bought it! It drives better than I expected. It has excellent pick up, handling AND BRAKING! The trunk is medium sized due to hybrid- no problem, I could see that before I bought. It's fun to drive which is nice. The car is plenty big for four adults- which is why I wanted Accord vs Prius or Civic. It's a pleasure to go to the gas station half as much as I used to. I realize with the purchase price of the car vs gas price, you don't win financially necessarily. But you don't have to refill as often. I've had absolutely no problems with it- just 2 oil changes. With elderly parents 100 miles away, on a moment's notice we can get the 911 call. It's nice not to have to take the time and anguish to gas up when you're in a hurry to get there. We can do a round trip with 1/3 tank. Big surprise- my wife loves to drive it. She has never really "liked" a car before. Just transportation. But she enjoys driving this one. I highly recommend the Accord Hybrid.

Best Accord Yet
This is the 3rd Honda Accord I have purchased. A 01 EX-L V6, 08 EX-L V6 Navi and now this EX-L Hybrid. When looking for a new vehicle I wanted something reliable and luxurious. While shopping for a new car my son told me that this new Hybrid was launching and that it got great mileage, which in my daily commute would be great. I test drove the car, and it was Quiet and Smooth. I was sold, I purchased the car right away because I knew this was a winner. I have now had the car since about November 7th and I can say that it does get 50 MPG and I don't miss the Navigation because when I bought my 08 and the end of 07, the iPhone had just come out, fast forward to 2014, the iPhone is a GPS.
A balance of Economy and Performance
I've put nearly 10,000 miles on my Accord Hybrid so far. I've averaged about 46 MPG with many of those miles coming over the recent cold winter. Using the heat can really take a hit especially on shorter trips. In the summer months I've averaged 60-65 MPG in town. On several road trips I've averaged right around 45 MPG.
42K and still a big fan
Last month I passed 40k miles with my Accord Touring Hybrid, and I remain an enthusiastic owner. Lifetime average mpg is ~50Mpg. I typically get 52-53mpg per tankful in the three warm seasons with short trips (under five miles) at about 44mpg and long trips (my commute is 25 or 53 miles, depending) coming in between 55 and 60. Winter mileage is 47-48mpg due to fuel mix and low temperatures. Warm winter days I get above 50, but on bitter cold days it can be as low as 39mpg. My driving method for this car is special, and I think it contributes to mpg success. Accelerate just quickly enough to run the motor and drive in hybrid mode. Use electric mode for flat and downhill. If there is a small hill ahead, allow the car to slow a but in EV mode as you go over the hill and ease back up to speed thereafter. On long uphill drives with speed limit at 45 or higher, try to go fast enough to drive in engine only mode. In all conditions, avoid cracked or crumbly road surfaces. Smooth road is key to mpg success (rain pulls down mpg as well). Mechanically, I have had zero issues. Oil lasts about 11k between changes, and after 42k miles, my break pads are at 70%. This is in part because I drive in "B" mode at all times when not using the adaptive cruise control. Initial breaking always is by taking my foot off of the accelerator. I almost always hit the break only after my speed declines to about 20 through regenerative breaking. The leather interior and all controls have held up like new. The ACC works great and uses regenerative breaking for most deceleration needs. I love the right blindside camera and especially like to use it while going over long narrow bridges. I have seen some say that there should be a left blindside camera, but I find the split left mirror to be fine for that purpose. There are only a couple negatives. The forward collision sensor can trigger on bends in the road if there is a tree, garbage can, or other object on the side of the road (but straight ahead before you hit the bend). The ACC only sees a car as being ahead of you once it is completely in your lane. New Jersey has aggressive drivers, and so I have to hit the breaks when being cut off, because the camera does not see a car half in my lane as an obstacle to slow down for. In my experience, the positives out weigh the negatives hands down. Compared to my 2008 Accord V6 LE, I have saved about $1700 in fuel (at about $2 per gallon). Having my breaks last about twice as long will be another financial benefit, once I pass 100k and need to change them. I would buy this car again.

It ain't perfect, but close enough.
I've had my base Hybrid for a month and put a little over 2K miles on it. It's been amazing so far. I've averaged about 48 mpg so far in mixed driving, which probably be higher if temps didn't drop below freezing which caused me to average about 36 mpg on my current tank. Handling is good for a big sedan, and it feels like it has as much power as my former '04 Accord EX-L V6 Navi. Brakes are smooth and linear, unlike the jerky brakes found on the Prius's I've rented. Seats are supportive and comfortable, and the interior fit and finish is quite good. I find the infotainment system to be decently intuitive. The base audio system is ok, though not great.
Good MPG, Excellent Features
I've had my hybrid Ex-L for about a month now. I regularly get around 53 mpg city, but my highway mpg runs around 37 even with the econ button on (I have a bit of a lead foot). The mpg is effected more in cold weather than traditional cars. I love how I can put it in electric mode for short trips if the battery is charged enough, its perfect for running to the grocery store. Like another reviewer mentioned, the battery rarely gets fully charged, but does well enough. It doesn't drive like the traditional hybrid (no hesitation) unless you put it in econ mode.
Hybrid Not as Good as Expected
I now have 8,000 miles on my Accord Hybrid. The mileage claims are extremely optimistic. I live in Wisconsin and in cold weather you will be lucky to get 30 MPG in city driving. In the summer on highway driving you can get into the middle 40's MPG. I have never seen 50 MPG and my Accord is always in the eco-mode. It has also left me stranded once in the winter as it would not start due to the cold. I am also having issues with the paint chipping. This was no surprise as the paint quality on Hondas has gone down a lot in recent years. Overall it is not worth the extra money over a regular Acord.
update Legend of 21st Century
Amazing MPG if drive in city or back roads highway 55-60 miles per hour, drops about 10 miles in cold winter and heavy rain, I have been getting 55 mpg easily on City and small highway, I got repeatedly 60-70 mg in a prolonged City drive, I cannot believe it myself. Interstate 45 mpg at 70 miles per hour, and drops if you go faster. I rented a Toyota pruis, the ride and and quality of the Honda is far much better, a difference of day and night, you feel like you are in a luxury car in the Honda accord hybrid. I am surprised how people pay for the Toyota pruis while the got get a Honda accord hybrid . The mpg is not much better in the Toyota pruis , actually the Honda hybrid accord gets better MPG in certain situations and roads. It is a car with no transmission, only one in the world for this price, so it is unique and it is a history in the making. I think the KARMA does not have transmission too. Honda always do stuff like that like the Honda S 2000 only street car with RPM up to 9000. or Tesla an electric car with a range of 300 miles and beats M5. In other words this is a historic car, NO TRANSMISSION . Change between different driving modes feels like a gear change, and becomes predictable when you get used to driving. Loud noise at certain slow driving situations is understandable when you know how the iMMD works. I call it the iVTEC SYMPHONY. It makes you feel like you are driving a FORMULA 1 CAR, which is hybrid by the way. The car is sporty like a Honda accord and faster than the 4 cylinder accord, and priced right between the v6 and 4 cylinder accord, so you do not feel like you spend too much on a hybrid and worry about recovering the cost of the hybrid. Gas prices are down below 2$, I feel I made a good choice by buying a Honda accord hybrid, I have not lost any power or fun going hybrid. I feel all cars should have this system. you can watch my you tube videos at physics Honda accord hybrid. Update Car is excellent, unfortunately it was totaled in an accident, it was T-boned . My daughter was driving, it was her mistake. My daughter is fine, no injuries, air bag deployed including curtain air bag, electric system shut down automatically to prevent fire. This car is excellent. I am waiting for the 2018 to come, I am waiting for more professional car reviews but definitely will buy. I personally think it is better than Camry. I think Honda give you more for what you pay

2014 Accord Hybrid - 2 months in...
After about 2,000 miles I would like to give as accurate of a review as I can on the 2014 Accord Hybrid. First off, this is not a sports car - don't get me wrong, when you take off "econ" mode and hit the gas this car moves great, and it has VERY responsive handling and braking. But this car begs to be driven conservatively & casually (picture Low Rider playing in the background while you are out cruising). The reward is a car VERY comfortable, easy to drive, with INSANE gas mileage. The 47/50 ratings are wrong - they are LOW. We regularly drive about 50/50 mix and get 52-55 average - maybe warmer weather helps some. Can go 800 mi per tank. Same quality Accord as always with high mpg.
Love this car.
I had to wait 2 months to get the model I wanted (2014 Touring) but I am very happy with this car. I was getting 45-47 in the summer but I'm finding my mileage closer to 38-40 when the temperature gets below freezing. I think the gasoline blend has a lot to do with that. I have been able to get over 50 but I live on a hill, so the overall mileage reflects that. The performance is excellent. Much like an Acura TL service car I drove when I owned my MDX. You get used to the gasoline engine noise in the background, especially when you realize the engines primary purpose is running the generator for the powerful electric drive motor. And over 40 mph, the gasoline motor is capable of 45 mpg.
Not What I expected
This is the 4th Hybrid car that I have owned. The other 3 were Lexus ES300H, Lexus CT200H, and a 2012 Camry Hybrid. All previous models got the exact MPG that they stated they would give. This Accord with 5k miles on it, isn't even close. I'm averaging 39 mpg. When I talked to the service department at my local dealer, they gave me the old Ford answer...you have to break it in? Wow! The other 3 I did not have to break in...why would you a Honda? Also, I am getting a loud popping noise out of the drivers side front end. At the end of the day, this car has some nice features for safety...but it is certainly not worth more that $6k more that the Camry Hybrid. Update: After one year of ownership I sold this car. If you are looking for a mid-sized hybrid, I would certainly go for the Camry Hybrid. If money is not a problem, go for the Lexus 300H.

Overcharging noise? Any other experience?
There are quite a few reviews on here, I have to say I agree with them all. While the car isn't perfect in terms of transitions, you get use to it. My mileage is the same as most.. If it's cold I get in the high 30s and if I turn off the climate system I get 45-55 depending on hills. My real concern is more in the form of a question for other owners. When going down a long hill, once the battery reaches max charge, my charging system or whatever is running in regenerative mode, seem to get louder and louder. At first I thought it was overheating the charging system, but as soon as you bring the battery down a bar the charging sounds normal again until you hit max charge again. Anyone?
Love the hynrid!
We've put on 100,000+ miles in just over four years -- normal service, no problems (except for a few extra flat tires). Only three drawbacks: (1) Speed control is sluggish and doesn't respond right away; (2) trunk space is pretty small; and (3) no full-size spare tire. We will be buying a new Honda Accord Hybrid soon.

upgrade from the civic hybrid
Once my civic hit 99k I decided it was time to upgrade comfort, power and size. When I saw the mileage ratings of 45/50 and read the reviews I was hooked. I purchased the car about 6 months ago and have driven 21K miles. AVG mpg since the start is 38.5. OK, I realize I drive a little faster than most (75 avg on hwy) and I also realize that I purchased the car in the dead of winter (which I am told will adversely affect mileage), but 10mpg under??. The ride is great, the comfort is great and overall I am happy with the vehicle. Is the car worth the extra money to upgrade to the hybrid?, not unless you keep it for 500,000 plus miles. Also I am having a couple of issues. 1 - There are about 25 paint chip marks on the very front of the hood, I never had this with any vehicle I have purchased (this is my 12th new purchase). 2 - There is a knocking sound on the passenger side when starting out or stopping that has been there from day 1, it almost sounds like a spring popping. I mentioned it when I was in for an oil change at the dealer but was told a mechanic was not available. So, I just made an appointment a week from now so we will see.

So far so good, question about Battery Gauge
Just picked up my Accord Hybrid Touring edition a few days ago. Quiet, smooth, reasonable power. I have a question to you other owners. I can't get my hybrid battery gauge above 6 bars, and gas mileage above 40 MPG Does your gauge go to the full 8 bars? I'd like to know before I ask the dealer. Came out of a Mercedes E350, not the same standard of luxury, but I love all the techno gadgets.
Gas Mileage Update: 17k miles on vehicle
On average I get between 38 and 45 mpg combined. I will say it depends heavily on your coasting vs. using the throttle and brakes heavily. During the summer months I got closer to 45-55 mpg but during the winter months it appears as though the 38-42 is more accurate hence my 38-45 range.
Bye to Lexus GS, Hello Honda Accord Hybrid Touring.
I recently owned the Lexus GS AWD 2013 model, but upon learning of the Honda Accord Hybrid touring model, options, styling and reviews, not to mention MPG, I swapped. This new gen Honda is shockingly high end on the inside and outside. If you ignore the badging, you likely would think you were in a something from Acura, Lexus, or possibly Audi. The features and so rich and high end. I was only test driving for fun because of the MPG and I was instantly sold. The tech inside of the this touring model includes a very feature rich GPS, massive connectivity features via bluetooth with my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and the wife's 5s. The Adaptive Cruise is outragous and the blind spot monitor!!!
Honda Did a Good Job on the New Accord Hybrid
Honda has done a good job on their latest Accord Hybrid. It is at the opposite end of the spectrum from the original HAH. Our other car is a 2013 Camry Hybrid XLE and the new HAH has a slightly better ride (feel and sound level) but looks and feels much more luxurious. The HAH trunk appears to be noticeably smaller than the TCH even though it is stated as only 0.5 CF smaller. The USB audio interface in the EX-L model is totally unusable, to the point we said we wouldn't purchase that model without immediately replacing the head unit. The I/F on the Touring is better but still not up to that in others' products. The HAH is much more expensive than its gas counter part than the TCH.
Running great at 224,000 miles
Don't worry about the battery dying on you. I have one of the highest mileage ones out there at 224k and the battery is in great health. I can easily crack 50 MPG on ~60 MPH roads in a very hilly area. Meanwhile, my mom's Ford Fusion hybrid averaged 42 MPG its entire life before its engine blew (with perfect maintenance) just over 150k miles. Though it was reliable until then, I think the Honda wins!

Great MPG, comfortable, some tech weaknesses
We purchased the 2014 Accord Hybrid shortly after its Oct 2013 arrival at a local dealer, attracted by its 'new' hybrid technology & claimed mileage. Only the Touring trim level was available at the time, but we bought it anyway. We owned this car for over 2 years and nearly 50K of daily driving, mostly highway. Over that time and distance, we enjoyed combined driving mileage of around 42 mpg, with a high in the 60's and a low in the low 30's, depending on location (terrain), speeds, etc. With an ample gas tank, we had ~700 mile range between fill-ups and spent way less time and money at the gas station. The car was truly spacious and comfortable. Beyond the comfort and mpg factors, we enjoyed the fact that the Accord Hybrid looks like every other Accord on the road - no geeky look like the Prius or other 'green' cars. The build-quality is solid, the design generally fine. We traded the car when gas prices plummeted by the end of 2015 and after some of the fancy electronics of the Touring trim level were damaged in an everyday encounter with some very small road kill that threw the car's under-bumper sensor out of position and useless. Honda refused to acknowledge poor design and wanted over $1K for 'repairs.' We said 'no' and traded the car. To be fair, the trade was not only because of the poor placement of the sensor package under the front bumper, but also because we didn't want to face an expensive battery exchange (battery warranty in our state was only 80K miles) and because the combination of many vehicles in the market now available with routine combined mpg over 30 with (now) low gas prices at the pump. We would still recommend the upcoming 2018 'redesign' of the Accord Hybrid, but not the Touring level trim. At that trim level, you are forced to purchase fragile technology such as lane-change warning sensors, auto-brake sensors, etc. that are terribly vulnerable in daily driving and very expensive to fix. If possible, recommend the EX trim level or below, and without all of these 'smart' additions. Gas prices may be relatively low now, but they are on the way back up in the next year or two, IMHO. And the affordable plug-in electric cars still don't have a useful driving range, especially for rural or semi-rural daily use. Kudos to Honda for offering Android Auto and/or Apple Car Play interfaces, however, so you can just use the smart phone you already have for navigation, etc. without having to spend $3K for an inferior manufacturer's OEM navigation package.

DON'T BELIEVE THE GAS MILEAGE HYPE!
I was sold on the MPG numbers, but my Accord gets 34mpg hwy and 40 city. I took it back to Hendrick Honda and they gave me a lecture on potential poor driving habits. They said they checked everything and all was fine. This is my fifth Honda Accord so I have come to expect a certain degree of service and reliability. I FEEL BETRAYED BY HONDA. I don't know who these people who claim high MPG are. Hendrick Honda will not do a thing about mine though. The employee at Hendick Honda in Easley, SC was rude and condescending. For me it's ZERO or HERO. I give the 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid a "ZERO". UPDATE JUNE-2-2016 I now have 65,000 miles on my 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid and Mileage is currently 32 hwy and 38 city, not 45 hwy and 50 city as Honda claims. Roy, the rude shop manager has since been fired. The Honda is still a piece of junk compared to former models. Hendrick Honda still doesn't care about this customer and I will NEVER buy another car from them. June 2, 2018 I now have been driving my Honda Accord Hybrid for 4 years and have 125,000 miles on the odometer. The gas mileage has dropped to between 33mpg and 36mpg. The car still looks modern but I will never buy another new Honda. The gas mileage is good for a $25,000 car but I paid $40,000 for the hybrid to have better gas mileage. 100% not worth it. I won't get fooled by Honda again. UPDATE: DECEMBER 4, 2018 Took my vehicle back to Hendrick Honda to find out what was going on with the gas mileage. They charged me $90 and said there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. Thanks for nothing Mr. Hendrick! 6/5/20 170,000 miles. Engine is still strong. Down to 32 MPG. Regardless of make and model, you will do better letting someone else take the depreciation and buy the car used. 6/16/24 10 years in and 225,000 miles. I'm ready for a new car. I have bought Honda my whole life. I think I will look at what other options are available this time. MPG fluctuates between 32 and 37 depending if you are using the heater or the AC.

Stunned
As a past dedicated toyota owner, I was so surprised by the ride and options that was offered. I wound up purchasing this car and so happy that I did. Although it has high miles, I am not concerned with Hondas reputation. Hoping that this will give me years of happy luxurious traveling!

1000Miles and counting
I got the car 2 weeks ago and drove around ( Houston to Dallas trip) too. I was driving like a grandma for first 300 miles ( really low acceleration) and there on my friends drove it for 300 miles with full acceleration ( 10+ power bars). At the end of 1000 miles I got 39.2 mpg ( good I would say). Ride is comfortable for the long drives). Once I hit 60mph instant mpg drops to 36 and if I take it beyond 75mph it improves. Touched 85mph with just 3 power bars and ride is still feels smooth ( low noise).
Ok Car
43MPG.. 12 months of driving. Very poor pickup ( even compared to other Hybrid). No so fun to drive. Not worth the extra cost. After few years of driving, the avg MPG is now 38!.. its gone down significantly after 3 year.

Everything good but rear windshield
I am happy for what I picked especially the mpg about average over 44 mpg for my first tank of gas. For all Accord hybrid: Please pay attention to your rear windshield, Have you see any object or image of waviness, curving around like you are in a steamy hot desert???? My Honda service manager, advisor all seems happen only on Hybrid. Honda won't do nothing if you all don't complaint it. I can't see ant straight line behind me!!!!!
Gas mileage
I would never have traded in my Camry hybrid if I knew the Honda accord hybrid only got 39 mpg. What a disappointment. I have had many Hondas but now I will go back to Toyota.
2014 honda accord EX-L hybrid
I love this car! I had the 2010 accord leased and bought the new hybrid it's sleek style and economical gas mileage is my fav features. The power it has at take off it's like if it were a v6 engine. I would never think its that powerful and I thought I would lose power for fuel economy but I was wrong this car has more power than the 2010 Honda. Love it! Thanks honda for an even better car!
2014 Accord Hybrid Touring MPG WTF
I purchased 2 Honda Accord Hybrid Touring sedans for my house hold and neither one has gotten close to 50 mpg. I installed the HFP 19 wheels with Continental ContiSport 3's on my Touring sedan (from my old Accord coupe) so I can forgive that car of under whelming me in the MPG dept. But with that in mind the car seems to hesitate a lot during highway speeds above 55 MPH. Not sure what sure what the cause of this is. The other car has achieved 42 MPG once and averages 37. The driver of this car is VERY conservative so the problem isn't how the sedan is being driven. I hope that this a break in period thing. Neither car drives in EV mode more than %10 of the time.
Best car ever!!!
