Solid Effort with great new Transmission
Great engine and new 10 speed transmission. Shifts really smooth and its never guessing on when to down shift or search for gears. Great on the highway. Rear visibility due to the middle row seat and C pillars is poor at best. Must use your mirrors and trust the tech. The tech is awesome and unrivalled by others. Touch screen is easy to use, love the layout, response time is great. High step in, but its a big car and I knew that. Gas mileage is ok for a big car, cylinder deactivation is seemless. Turning radius is good for a big SUV. Overall please so far, two weeks under my belt.

5 and 1/2 years still going STRONG
If you do not mind the price, which is high, but as someone said you get what you pay for. I am over 60 years of age and this vehicle is amazing to drive. It reminds me of my dad's 1973 Caprice Classic which had a 454 cubic inch monster. The heads up display is wonderful as is all the technological advances of the automotive industries. I received/took delivery during the end of August 2017. Every time I drive the vehicle i just smile! I have the 22 inch tires and I am actually impressed with the gas mileage, if you can stay off throttle. If you prefer a large SUV, you must give the Yukon Denali a try. I should have tried one years ago, but due to price I never pulled the trigger. I am glad I am able to enjoy the comforts of this Denali. I cannot say enough about this vehicle, just test drive one. You will not be disappointed. The vehicle continues to amaze me. Buy one. GOING ON TWO YEARS NOW, NO REGRETS. Continues to impress me, a joy to drive. Fours years and 50,000 miles. Yukon Denali going well. Well it has been 5 and 1/2 years and all I have done it routine maintenance. Still going very well. UPDATE: Still very happy with this unit. I had to replace front and rear shocks at 88,000. Wow, they are expensive, but wanted the original ride quality. I have installed a catch can and the cylinder deactivation has been disabled by performance shop. I hope I can get 250,000 out of her. Change oil every 4,500 to 5,000 miles with synthetic oil. I now have 94,000 miles. I changed all spark plugs and plug wires. Changed antifreeze and all radiator hoses. serpentine belt, AC and power steering belts. I also changed an idler pully. Changed tranny fluid and filter. Also changed front and rear differential fluids, along with transfer case fluid. Important to keep up on all maintenance. I still love this vehicle. I did also add a catch can along with deleting the AFM by a performance shop via computer.

So far great SUV but little issue!
Very excited to take delivery of our new 2018 Yukon Denali. Was very surprised at the power and handling as my wife is very pleased! I will say there are a couple of things that took me. We did not purchase the XL but the regular length SUV (thank god we don't have to fit in the third row) as the rear cargo area is small as expected. Automatic folding seats are nice when doing a Costco trip or traveling. What we did notice, which really had me wondering is the very rear cargo area does not have a light! Strange enough, with LED technology being so inexpensive you would think that they would have addressed it. Other than the issue with lighting, we are very pleased.

Great Luxury but Capable SUV
We did alot research on SUV's and found some challenges with capacity, luxury and a reasonable price. We really liked the Lexus LX 570 but the price 90K+. We looked at the Infiniti QX80 and while it was clearly the most luxurious the exterior was less than desirable. We considered the Cadillac Escalade but found that it had the same capacity and motor as the GMC Yukon Denali at 20K+ dollars more with interior differences. We also considered the Tahoe but when we priced it out with all the options it was the same price as the Denali. All in all the Yukon was the best bang for the buck and quite frankly it just looked better. Our research showed that it was a mix of happiness with owners from 15 and 16 years as these models had alot or recurring issues. We learned that many of the issues were to be resolved in 2017 and decided to lease one. Ours is fully loaded and we really like the technology GM brought to the table. The onstar app and myGMC app are designed well. Our only issue is that sometimes the apple play does't start when connected to the iPhone and we are unsure if it is the USB port or the iPhone cable. It gets great gas mileage as well. We really like the look and the ride and love the fact that is a truck base SUV vs a car base which provides us with more options. If you are looking for a luxury SUV with technology, towing and capacity to seat that is truck base this is your truck.

Run Run Fast
If your considering a GMC Yukon Denali, I'd encourage you to run and run fast. I realize many are skeptical of these reviews, but I felt compelled to provide a review of my recent experiences. I purchased a new 2017 GMC Yukon Denali in August of 2017. In less than a year and 12,000 miles, I've had significant issues. First, I had issues with the Collision Detection system. The Haptic Seat Motor has been replaced once and is now throwing the same error message, in fact this is a know issue by GM (https://gm.oemdtc.com/4389/pit5445a-diagnostic-tip-service-driver-assist-message-2014-2017-cadillac-chevrolet-gmc) My $75K Yukon is now heading to the dealership Monday for repair for the third time for this particular issue. The last time around, they couldn't find anything wrong. Now for the bigger issue, I just got the truck back earlier this week for an issue with the Lifters and Lifter rods. About 2 weeks ago I noticed a ticking coming from the engine. After taking it to the dealership, I was informed that their were issues with the lifters. The dealership has just rebuilt the entire right side of the engine. Again, GM is well aware of the issues based on their service bulletin ( https://gm.oemdtc.com/3656/15-06-01-002f-engine-misfire-tick-noise-malfunction-indicator-lamp-mil-illuminated-with-dtc-p0300-set-2014-2018-cadillac-chevrolet-gmc). In fact, they just modified the bulletin to include the 2018 models of the Tahoe, Yukon and Escalade. It's evident that GM engineering cannot figure out how to engineer the AFM ( Automatic Fuel Management) system based on the government's mileage regulations. After getting my Yukon back, it was back in the shop a day later, as the water pump was defective, throwing a screeching noise. For $75K you should certainly consider other vehicles. I love the look of the truck, however be warned, the quality is less than acceptable. Those are real services bulletins issued by GM, therefore buyer beware. Before you consider buying a GMC truck, please take a moment to review the extensive list of Services Bulletins released by GM. They should be embarrassed by the extensive list and the poor quality of the vehicles they are manufacturing.

Big transmission problems at 55,000 miles
I had no idea there were any known transmission problems with 2015-2019 GM vehicles, but I'm very aware of that now through personal experience with this vehicle and after having done some research. I drove my previous Yukon (2013 SLT) to 165,000 miles without ANY PROBLEMS at all. I literally just changed the oil and rotated the tires/replaced tires when needed. Nothing else ever went wrong with the 2013. I decided to trade for the 2019 because it's a beauty, and I fell in love with it. It has been a good and dependable vehicle for the most part, but it started making a harsh whining noise with cold start-ups at about 50,000 miles. The noise seemed to originate underneath the vehicle at about the level of the front seats, and that just got progressively worse in a relatively short amount of time. It was so loud that I was embarrassed to start my car at work if anyone was around. Of course the dealership "couldn't hear the noise" (which is BS because is was obnoxiously loud). I finally told them that I had read about the known transmission issues in this vehicle and I was CERTAIN that there was a transmission problem, and if they didn't figure it out I was going to take all of my future business elsewhere. Lo and behold, they found some pretty significant transmission issues (shocker). Gears were ground down and my transmission fluid was foul-smelling and orange-brown. I hoped for (and requested) a new transmission but they are currently replacing the only the severely damaged parts of my transmission because "that is all they were able to negotiate with my power train warranty company". I plan to trade as soon as I get her back because I feel that I've been deceived from the very beginning, and I should have received a new transmission. I drive a lot of interstate miles, some at night, and I don't trust that this is the end of her issues. I will NEVER buy another GM vehicle, nor will I do business with this dealership again in the future. There is no way that they weren't aware of the likelihood of transmission issues in this vehicle. I feel like they were trying to placate me until my powertrain warranty ran out in 5000 miles, and now they're just putting a bandaid on what I believe is a much bigger problem. It is a BEAUTIFUL vehicle, and I will be really sad to say goodbye to her.
No more GMC lemons!
I too like the other reviewer here had purchased a 2017 Yukon Denali (mine was from Reliable GMC in Sacramento,Ca). With the same problems of engine noise and miss fire. After complaining to the dealer several times with their excuse that ..."Its just the nature of the car its a big engine" and after 2 rebuilds on the engine they finally replaced the engine. Although it still sounds a bit off ...(no imagination since I have had several of these same models also with other problems). Its just not worth it to give anymore money to GMC for defective SUVs that put their drivers though so much doubt and worry with an unreliable vehicle. Too bad they are a good looking car too!

GMC won't fix the problem!
We bought a 2017 Yukon Denali XL new, so even though we already have 70k miles on it, it is still a new vehicle. Too new to have a vacuum pump fail. As it turns out is cheap part that GM chose to use and now the problem is common. Now we have this transmission vibration that my dealer tells me is also now a common problem in fact continues to be a problem through 2019. The problem? GM put an incompatible transmission fluid in at factory. The Solution? flush the transmission twice with a synthetic fluid. The bad news? we are still under 5 years but 20k over the 50k warranty. The bill to fix this problem? $754. Buyer Beware

Engine rough-idles, GM says: "within spec".
Update: Had to trade out of this junk with a huge loss... Read below why. I was so looking forward to purchasing my first real large SUV. Reviews on GM Tahoes and Yukons are positive but my experience was terrifying. My wife and kids hate to ride in it as it shake at idle in Drive position. GM and dealers are saying no codes, we stopped troubleshooting here. $65K truck that shakes like 1988 Yugo... what a treat, but what is worst is the lack of support. If you think manufacturers warranty is there to support you bumper to bumper, think again, if truck is dead or there error codes they will fix it, if no codes you are so out of luck. I took it to the independent, they found the issue with injectors but since there are no codes, GM would not authorize a repair. GM support will send you on such long wild geese chase, you would never come back. I am pro-business but in this case I wish there was more consumer protection in place.

Still Loving my 2017 SLT Yukon
Currently have a little over 81,000 miles on my Yukon. So far no problems with vehicle. Loving gas mileage-averaging 23 mpg on highway/city driving, love the quite and comfortable ride, and the technology is first rate. Getting in and out of the Yukon is a big step, but I like sitting up high while driving. Plus, my first two oil changes/tire rotation were complimentary. So far, no mechanical issues. my wife and I travel quite a bit between home and beach property.

Wife with mobility problems loves it!
My wife had a 2006 Yukon and loved it. Only reason she got rid of it was expense to maintain it. She got another SUV and hated the mirrors. She felt very uncomfortable attempting to back up. Visibility was the problem. She traded it in on the 2018 Yukon and loves this. Only problem is the rocking on uneven ground. We park on the front yard and its bumpy. The vehicle feels like we are at sea. It rocks from side to side. Other than this, the comfort is the best we have experienced.

Owned a lot of vehicles this one is the best
Only time will tell for sure but after owning my Yukon SLT for 3 months and 2600 miles I absolutely love everything about it. The 0ne exception is the 3rd row seat is short on leg room for average size adults. Not a problem for us because we seldom if ever us it. I would buy this vehicle again in a second.

Good Luxury SUV without being Too Blingy
I have been driving a 2016 Yukon for 2 years, and now the 2019, so I have a pretty good knowledge of Yukon XL Denali. It drives more like a car, doesn't not feel as big as it is. I exchanged the 22" wheels for the 20". I think 20" gives it a better ride. Compared with other vehicles in its class the only think, I think it lacks is the seats could be a softer leather. Not as nice as Escalade ESV or Lincoln L but it is $15,000 - $20,000 less so I think the value is a great deal. I've taken trips cross county with it, and it is a smooth ride, cabin noise is quiet, acceleration plenty to get up and go when I need to. Transmission issues GM won’t stand behind
Bought a brand new 2017 Yukon Denali. Had transmission concerns from the start. Transmission has major issues where it jerks strongly when shifting into reverse or slowing down to stop. It would jerk so strongly it felt like either you ran over an animal or small child or like someone ran into your bumper. We would take it into the dealership and the service department would say they couldn’t replicate the problem and that it must be normal transmission function. They considered it “normal” function even though there were numerous service bulletins for transmission flushes to address the issue that we had completed. Needless to say, it never solved the jerking. After continuing to complain to dealership, they said it was normal and there was nothing they could do about it. It looked like there was also a class action lawsuit about this issue. We decided to stop fighting an up hill battle when the dealership was going to charge us to undergo a more thorough diagnostic check for a jerky transmission we were struggling with since day one. We weren’t gong to stick any money (or waste any more time) into it, but instead offloaded it with 38k miles for a Lincoln Navigator. We buy new business vehicles every few years and we will never own another GM vehicle due to their inferior manufacturing and lousy customer service.
GMC Still has drive train issues
Vibrations issues that start at 45 mph. After ruling out tire issues, 3 sets of tires later, GMC is trying to find the issue which has been a problem with the GM truck/Suv line since 2015. Currently my GMC dealer has had my Yukon for 3 weeks working on the issue. Yukon overall is a very comfortable, fuel efficient SUV with some issues. Update 01/19/22 still having the same issue and actually filled a lemon law complaint. GMC now has assigned an engineer inspect my 2019 Yukon. So far, GMC has replaced the torque converter and balanced the drive shaft....still vibrates and has a whine coming from the differential which has been repaired three time and now actually needs to be replaced but part (differential) is not available...Inspection is on 01/20/22. I have little expectation from GMC customer service/inspection...poor customer service at best!

Not happy with my tu on 2017
I got my GMC Yucom SLT October 2017 ..Back them my GMC was beautiful , look great , you feel comfortable lots of space ,leather seats . Well now for 75k you think you have the best of the best but noo .. the nice look for the outside but that problem is inside in the motor is made of plastic.. like I already replaced heater core hoses b/c the hose is made rubber & plastic. Now for the last few months I been in the dealers shop for check engine light which computer detectors indicate is emissions leaks . 1er they said you putting gas with the engine on . Ok I made sure I turn the engine off . They did not found any leaks ok you good 2 days later check engine goes on again ok dealers said we to replace sensor nothing is leaking you spent the money them 6 days later check engine goes on go back ok we need to replace the canister that the problem ok you spend the money again 8 days later check engine on again drive back to the dealer and is frustrating already b/c you loosing time and money and nothing is fix . Well now they said that they did all the testing that they cannot do more for me b/c they can find not find the problem. So they make me spend for a different parts like a sensor, canister now they will replace the filler pipe . So I’m thinking they made me spend money for nothing. So professional mechanics are guessing for the problem. Is not fare is not professional.. so upset. So after a 10 days come back for the same problem.. not cool . Definitely I bought a problem car ..

The beast of all beasts!
My 2017 Yukon Dinali has 47,000 miles on it and no problems. This car has everything you would want in an SUV. Some have complained about problems with their Yukon’s but not this one. It has a powerful 6.2 liter V8 and can pull around 8500 lbs. The interior is sleek and so much cheaper to maintain than a BMW ;)

Just Bought 2017 Yukon Denali
YUKON DENALI: It’s really a no brainer for the money. The reviews and current 18 year ownership of a Tahoe is the reason for the upgrade. Considered the Tahoe and Escalade... I don’t need a Massager for 20 GRAND! Will give the 1 year review in 12mo. Cheers!

Dents & Scratches Easily
I love my Denali but for the cost of these vehicles it sickens me that they scratch and dent so easily! It feels as though if you breath on the exterior sheet metal it dings. Everything else is just fine with the Denali. Other than that I love the vehicle! They had to cut cost somewhere and it's obvious the thickness of the exterior sheet metal and paint is one place that's it's obvious. I also have a BMW and my wife has a Lexus. Both of the vehicles have over 70,000 miles and not a door ding in either. Obviously the foreign car manufacturers do a better job.

Powerful, comfortable, luxury SUV
Amazing engine 10 speed V8 shifts very smoothly at all speeds. Drives like a big car. Great towing capacity and power. Lots of interior technology features and luxury comfort for all passengers. This is my second GMC Yukon Denali after BMW, Audi and Range Rover vehicles previously. Highly recommend.

GM lemon
Let’s see. We have a 2017 yukon xl Denali. Let me list all of our issues. 35,000 miles the ac went out and Gm covered half the repair cost as the bumper to bumper had already expired. Automatic running board motor failed on driver side. Out of warranty time frame $1,000 repair. Middle tv does not function and was told $800-$1000 to repair. Fuel injection got stuck and had to replace the whole left side and cam shaft. $6000 repair that Gm agreed to pay half. Malfunctioning taillight. $800 repair. I have had more problems with this car that has yet to break 100,000 miles. Really stinks as I am not a Ford guy, but I am over GM products.

To many problems
Raising the gas mileage up to 22 mpg has created major issues. The engine has yet to be refined, the 8 speed trans is also having issues. My son has a 2015 and the kids have broken 2 exterior door handles off, the engine has to be replaced, computer problems (Gremlins). Quality for the price is just not there. I own a 2003 Yukon since new and it has 275k no work has been done on the engine or trans, bottom line is that they are not built the way they used to be. For close to the same price as a Denali, we bought a Mercedes Benz GLS 450, tows what we need, better warranty, built like no other SUV, and much better resale value. Dealer customer service is also second to none. Drop it off once a year for oil change service and inspection, get a loaner with out even asking.

Was my Dream car!
2018 Yukon Denali XL. Buyer beware! For many many many years the Yukon Denali has been my dream car. Work hard and paid for a brand new Denali. Did not know the trouble I was heading into. Yes there is a tune you may install to fix the rough idling issue, if you are willing to give up your manufactures warranty. I have accumulated a total of 13,600 miles and this vehicle has left me dead on the road 3 times. Beginning to wonder if it’s why they provide on-star. My 2006 Nissan Titan with over 186,000 miles on it is more reliable. I paid for bells and whistles and got smoke up my bum. As mentioned in some reviews I found ride is smooth so long as you never stop.

Yukon
Very frustrating and disappointed that the A/C had a faulty muffler line assembly off the compressor . Had at the dealer at 740 miles found no refrigerant in system filled system added dye leak detection. Two weeks later May 7 2019 took truck back the dealer system not cooling. Replaced mentioned part and filled system seems to be working now . How can this have happened??
Bad Decision
Bought a used 2017 Yukon Denali with 100,000 miles. It now has 108,000 miles. Owned for 6 months now and already replaced the shocks and electromagnetic strut system, $1300. Then the transmission itself, Rebuilt because they cannot get a new one in for months $5100, along with sensors before that trying to fix the problem $900. After that a $200 battery. To fix an issue of the whole engine going crazy. Now I have to have new brake pads and rotors. What the Hell GM. Thanks to the government for trying to squeeze more mileage out of a beast of an engine and to leasing a carbon footprint on the environment has been defeated. I wish I would’ve never bought this vehicle. As soon as I can trade it or sell it, it will be gone. 8 speed transmission. Bring back the 6 speed and quit being stupid. Bought in 4/1/21. Review done in 11/7/21

GMC Yukon XL Denali 2017
My family and I purchased the GMC Yukon XL Denali thinking it would be a good vehicle for the family. We could not have been more wrong. We have owned this vehicle for a little over 4 years now. We have had to replace both rear struts once. That cost us $2,000. We have had to replace the front struts twice. That is about $3,600 in front struts. GM refuses to help us and to fix the problem that is clearly due to their error. Did I mention my front struts are now locked up again and needing to be replaced for a third time? Do not buy a Yukon, run for the hills. It's unfortunate for my family that we had to learn the hard way. I grew up with a father that swore by GM products. But after seeing how they treat us as loyal customers for over 40 years we will never buy another vehicle from them again.

So sad and disappointed
When I first purchased my car, I loved it, but unfortunately before I even hit 70,000 miles, I’ve already had the fuel injection system fully replaced, tons of electrical issues and now have to have the lift valves replaced, which is a $6000 job. There’s also been a problem with the paint which I guess was a part ofa five-year window where GMC and other Brands were putting out cars with faulty paint, had to have it repainted. There are so many problems for a car that has been serviced regularly by the dealer. Not worth the monthly

Pretty Little Princess
Recently purchased the princess. I’m not a car geek, just a mom who wanted a bigger vehicle that would fit 2 people and 2 Labradors and comfortably get us up north. It’s like my living room has been transformed into a vehicle. It’s so comfortable, so quiet, so smooth, so beautiful. It’s everything you could ever want if you need to go far with lots of room. I will never own a black interior again in my life. She has a tan interior which is cool in the summer. People can find fault with any vehicle but as far as I’m concerned it’s the nicest vehicle I’ve ever owned. I just feel so safe driving her up Highway 11 into two lane north country. (Ontario). But most importantly, my dogs love it. I will drive Yukons until they take my away my license and stick me in a home!!

Still going strong
I love my Yukon Denali- it’s the third one I’ve owned and it’s awesome. It handles well, has a great turn radius and I can cart 3 grandkids and strollers and 3 more adults. It’s been a great, reliable ride. I loved the 4 wheel drive when I was caught in a blizzard a couple months ago. It saved the day.

Had lots of issues
Had lots of issues but some were taken care of the following week after I complained.
Watch for electrical issues
1st I really enjoyed this vehicle, loaded up family, carry extra kids, drop seats and carry plenty of storage. Internment problems with various electronic functions not working. Then at 37000 miles became more frequent. Finally after 38000 dead in water, no response to key fob, not start, three times in three months, dug around fuses, would come right back, Finally disconnected the loose negative cable and still concerned. Enjoyed but worried when would be next time it would die.

Comfy and capable
Owned this suv for almost 7 years now and it is my favorite suv yet. Love the comfy leather seats with heat/cool functions, as well as the smooth ride. Only gripe is the two recalls (brakes and 4wd pull). Neither impacted my car but I had to go through the hassle of scheduling the repair.

Magnetic Struts
I bought a brand new 2019 Yukon Denali. First couple years I was in love, then around 54,000 miles I had not one not two not three, but all four magnetic stretch go bad. It was like riding in a tank even the shadows on the road felt like bumps, after much arguing and many phone calls I got GMC to do it for half price, each strut is about $1000. 15,000 miles later I had both front struts go bad, I asked for them to put something other than the magnetic struts back onto it, that’s all that’s available the dealership this time stepped up and replaced both of my front struts at no charge. Now I have a funny sound shifting from 1st to 2nd and from 2nd to 3rd, doesn’t really seem to affect it’s performance but I know there’s something wrong with it and with 70,000 miles on it GMC ain’t gonna fix it. I will not be buying a new Yukon Dinali even if I can’t let go the steering wheel clap my hands and clap my legs.
