excellent
I rated this vehicle as Excellent, The disadvantage is in comfort, GMC should design the two front seat's larger to accomidate larger-heaver customer's, same as the seat design in the Buick Regal. They have plenty of room. Also, they should inprove the wood design and color on the dash board.
Big Boys Toy
This vehicele has been a dream to drive. We went on a cross- country road trip from Connecticut to Vancouver, BC, Canada. The drive was extremely smooth and comfortable and that was with four adults and two pre-teen chidren.

Great Car
Third seat would be more usful if it folded into the floow like some other suv's Pulls the boat without effort. (4400 lbs)
Seasoned owner
Have driven through snow, desert, heavy rain and wind - vehicle is everything we thought it would be - dependable, comfortable, roomy, great sound system, power, etc. Gas mileage is not what one can find in crossovers - but this is a true, solid SUV - one of the last with metal bumpers.
Nice Truck, poor service dept.
The truck is very comfortable and has loads of room with the third row seats removed. I get plenty of compliments on the styling. The interior has bit too much hard plastic, although it does not scratch easily. My Civic interior looks and feels better. Great power seats. OnStar works like they advertise on lock outs. Service starts friendly until you point out that the problem wasn't fixed. Why do they require that you yell first before they (Indio, CA GMC/Buik/Pontiac) take any action. The service mangager was rude but the mechanic took the time to find a rattle and correct it.
Best of Show - Yukon
Having owned a variety of vehicles and makes (Jeep, Ford, Volvo, Olds, Isuzu, Porsche, VW - and driven most others) I've been fortunate never to run across a lemon but could always easily produce a "wish" list of what could have been better. This Yukon is near perfection - very comfortable, powerful, and looks great! I can't wait for my next one!
Hansome SUV - but dissapointed
Comfortable, peppy, roomy, turns heads - it was everything I was looking for - sounded perfect. WRONG its the biggest lemon I have ever purchased - dealership cant find whats wrong - electical issues to computer malfunctions - has been replaced, and replaced and replaced - no fix in site. It looks pretty sitting in thier garage.
glad I waited!
The 2003 Yukon was worth the wait! Every aspect of this vehicle has been well considered. The three individual automatic temperature controls, the steering wheel controls, the comfort, 17 mpg so far in the city with the 5.3L! I am very satisfied and glad I didn't grab a 02 for 0%!
First Yukon and not the last
This SUV has exceeded expectations. It handles very well (yes, we had another makers SUV before), has been totally reliable. The mileage meets or slightly exceeds what GM said to expect. Just an all around pleasure to drive. Now we need to find the free time to enjoy more road trips.
ONE AWESOME SUV
DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR I DONT THINK YOU CAN GET A BETTER SUV. YOU CAN TELL THERE HORSES UNDER THE HOOD. AND NO NEED TO WORRY ABOUT SPINNING YOUR TIRES IN A PINCH THE ALL WHEEL DRIVE TAKES THAT SCARE AWAY. IT WAS NICE GETTING A VEHICLE THAT HAD EVERYTHING ALREADY. YOU DONT HAVE UPGRADE ANYTHING,NOT EVEN THE STEREO. THE BOSE WITH SUBWOOFER DOSE THE TRICK. THIS VECHILE HAS WAY TOO MANY FEATURES TO LIST. MY FAMILY LOVES THE HEATED SEATS AND TV SCREENS. GOOD JOB GMC.
Smoke & Mirrors
Overall it's just an average ride. I wonder why it cost $46,000? It certainly has all the whistle & bells, but nothing unique. The stereo is ok but not great, maybe one step above the radio that was in my 1967 Chevy. A lot of road noise.
Excellent truck
It's the best! The gas mileage leaves something to be desired, but overall the Yukon is tops. A must have.
Luv my Yukon
We really like our Yukon. We owned several SUV's before we bought it. The performance, ride handling and comfort is great. We owned a Ford and a Dodge, and by far the Yukon beats them both.
Love my Yukon
Just got the Yukon. Took on trip to Ky. It preformed very well. Gas milage was 20.6 on the interstate. I think it will get better in time.
Gmc
This truck fell apart after 7,000 miles side panels fell off just did not get my moneys worth
2003 Yukon Lover
The Yukon is such a nice, plush vehicle. It really is fun to drive and extremely comfortable. Lots of power and the interior is nice as well. The interior could use more accents such as wood trim or aluminum, but it still blows away the competition in terms of class and space.
A great SUV!
I opted for a 4WD SLE with the bi-fuel 5.3L 8cyl engine. I can proudly proclaim this to be the best SUV I've driven & thus far I've encountered no problems whatsoever. The automatic 4WD is especially useful in Alaska where road conditions can quickly change in a matter of a few seconds as well as a few feet. The buying experience with my GM dealer was first-rate with no high pressure sales tactics, mind games, etc. As with all new cars, fuel economy improves as time progresses.
great car
this car is the best car i ever drove it is a smooth ride powerful and its looks great
My first SUV!!
This is my first SUV. I am a fan of the Chevy but was lured to the GMC by the customer service. No pressure at all! Can't beat the financing. This car rides like a dream! I actually made a full uturn in the middle of e residential area without hitting the opposite curb. Would definitely buy again
GM'S ups and downs
I purchased a 2003 2500 GMC Yukon XL SLT in October, 2003 with the 8.1 Liter engine. I tow a 8500# trailer regularly, and I noted this car is not available for review. Here are my thoughts: 1. Towing capability is great compared to the previous design. The engine, transmission and suspension handle the trailer very well.model. 2. The interior, for $49,000, is still too much plastic. Vinyl 3rd seat? 3. This same truck in a pick-up model is about $10,000 cheaper. 4. GM continues to design big cars for small people. The seats go too far forward, The plastic running boards sag under my weight of 215#s.
2003 Denali Is Great I Have Owned 3.....
I have owned 3 Denali's over the years, and the vehicle is great and I have never had any problems. The 2003 has a lot of new features that made me trade my 2002 in, with only 11,000 miles on it!
2003 Satisfied Owner
My native Floridian 2003 4x2 SLT handled 8" of Green Bay snow without a slip. Traction control works. No rattles or noises after my 3,000 mile trip. Acceleration and steering are at the top of the class. Very quiet and comfortable traveler. I would recommend this vehicle.
Best All Around
Great around town-Super turning radius. Suoer road trip car and very capable off road. Split removeable thirs row is a great featuere. Build quality is fine but the gas milage is a little scary (14 around town, 16 hwy). Despite the price, the vehicle is recommended.
Tough Service
One thing I've learned about owning this vehicle is that it's very difficult to repair. I have a strong feeling that the training manual at GMC says "if you can't hear it, nothing's wrong." The computer is a little screwy on this truck as well as the overdrive system. Transmission seems to struggle in bumper to bumper traffic. Also, beware the fuel mileage. This vehicle is a gas hog but that's what you do sacrifice for the power. I would recommend the vehicle but be careful about who services it. Very up to date vehicle but not to many up to date mechanics.
Bad Gas
very bad gas milage 14to 15mpg on the highway had a 2001 same motor 18t0 19mpg on the highway
Great Vehicle
Purchased my Yukon Denali, and loved it so much I replaced my 2002 LX470. I was going to get a 2003 LX470, but it didn't offer half of the features as the Denali, and costed $25,000 MORE! The only feature I miss is the DVD nav or the Lexus, but GMC has one now, so I guess I'll have to trade up next year. This car rides FAR better, has amazing power, is cheaper, and I even get far better fuel economy.
yukon
note**** my yukon is a 5.3 litre motor which is not offered in your survey.
Denali, better then any others
This truck is the best automobile I've ever owed. The ride is very smooth. The trucks body is wonderful. I stand behind the denali this is my 3rd one. Have test driven many suv and have the denali to be the best. We like them so much my husband bought one for himself.
just right
Very solid, well built and functional vehicle. Smooth and refined engine even without the overhead cams and the extra valves. Has more than enough power to haul the whole family + guests to the ski slopes. Better than expected fuel economy for this kind of vehicle. I was impressed by the quiet and rattle free interior and the overall build quality, especially considering the experience we had with our 2001 RAV4 (a rattle in the dashbord since day 1, cargo area panel falling off, warped plastic mouldings on the doors and warped brake rotors in just first 3 months of ownership)
BEST TRUCK NEEDS MORE WORK
NEEDS MORE THEN THERE IS FOR THE PRICE ARE TRUCKS FOR THE SAME PRICE AND MAYBE A LITTLE LESS OR A LITTLE MORE LIKE THE NAVIGATOR AND THE EXTERIOR IS REALLY UNBEATABLE IN THAT THING . AND THE DENALI BARELY HAS THE SAME OR ANY OF THE FEATURES IT HAS.WHICH IS WHY I AM UPSET.
Yukon
I have had a great experience with my vehicle. I enjoy driving it and would recommend it to anyone. I think that you can buy the upscale SLT instead on the Denali and save yourself alot of money. The rear A/C is a bit loud, but overall this is a great buy.
Excellent Truck
I am so happy with my Yukon. I was undecided between the Sequoia and the Yukon and I know I made the right choice. The ride is very smooth and non truck like and the performance has been excellent. I don't know why people rate the interior design so low because I think it's very nice. Much nicer than the cheep looking brown paneling in the Sequoia. I just cannot say enough about my Yukon. I always purchase foreign and decided to give an american vehicle a try and I am so glad I did because it's an excellent truck!
Best SUV of it's size
This vehical is smooth like glass. It has power along with elegence and grace. We desided to purchase our Denali just prior to the birth of our baby girl (Jordan). We knew that the extra space would be helpful. Not long ago, we were involved in a auto accident that could have taken our lifes. But thanks to our choice of vehicle and by gods grace, we are still here. We were hit from behind by a SUV traveling 60-70 mph. The Denali maybe total out but, we will get a new one soon. For us, the Denali ranks #1.
Love My Yukon!
I bought my Yukon brand new. I absolutely fell in love with it the moment I saw it. I knew I had to have it. It rides great, my kids are comfortable, & I'm comfortable driving it. The third row comes out, so when we have company from out of state we put the seats in and when it's just us we take the seats out. Mileage is good too.
Autoride is amazing!
The Autoride is amazing! Black with 20" makes this a stand-out truck. Easy to operate and park in the city. Feels like your driving on glass, even on the roughest roads. GMC resales better than Ford or Tahoe.
DENALI RULE
THE GMC YUKON DENALI IS BY DESIGN EYE CATCHING AND WONDERFUL TO DRIVE. THEIS VEHICLE IS THE SAME AS THE CADILLAC ESCALADE FOR ABOUT 5K LESS. INTERIOR IS VERY SPACIOUS AND COMFORTABLE WITH THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM AWSOME.
excellent
excellent the motor is quiet for a v- 8. gm has always built quality in there suv's. this is my second one and will continue to purchase more in the future. In the past all I have ever owened is gm products. I have a 95 pickup with 116,000 on it and runs as good as the day I owned it
Impressive Vehicle
I drive an average of 45K a year. I just trade my 2001 Yukon SLT (w/ 95k) for a 2003 Denali. I loved the SLT, got many positive comments on it. The new Denali is clearly a step above. It is faster, handles better and most shocking to me; it is more fun to drive. The Denali is not inexpensive by any means, but NO vehicle matches it in overall looks and performance for the price.
2003 Denali SUV
Great handling with very good visability considering the size of this SUV. Shifting is normally smooth with room for slight improvement. Engine is well matched and leaves nothing behind when merging or just getting out of the way.
2003 Denali XL
Great truck - rides like a cadi
Nice Try - but......
Tranny is alreay shot - 3,000 miles on SUV - stalls, lot of money of plastic
Best I've Had
I have driven the Lexus LX470, the Ford Expedition (Eddie Bauer), the Mercedes M430, and the BMW X5. I like the GMC over these (although the Lexus was also pretty nice) for several reasons. Power (Vortec 6000 is 320 hp at useful rpm), handling (the tightest turning SUV in the size), large interior carrying space, the Bose stereo kicks, and external looks. Also, the interior finish goes head to head with any other major SUV, and has OnStar as an advantage. Don't buy this SUV for gas efficiency however (as goes for any full size SUV) - this is a conscious trade off that must be made.
yucon dog
its all good the truck runs great nice body and wheel base. it tow boats and having the rear seat is nice.
GMC Yukon
overall a fabulous vehicle. a true highway cruiser. love the climate control. AC somewhat noisy. High- pitched engine noise with acceleration but can put up with that (told that was par for the course with this vehicle). incredible looks. well worth the price - $10,000 cheaper than the sequoia. 3rd row seet is a little cramped.
2003 Yukon Xlnt Ride
I am very surprised by the smooth ride of this large SUV. (2003) I don't even feel the speed bumps in my neighborhood. It is extremely quite, the AC is cold (I live in AZ). The turning radius is incredibaly small, which is not the case with my Chevy full size pickup. I get about 15 mpg around town. But, I believe that will improve with age, as have all my previous vehicles. Only complaint, the doors don't have that heavy feel or sound when I close them, but that's minor. The high profile view around town is an asset. I would definately buy another one, in fact my wife bought a Tahoe a few weeks after I got the Yukon.
Supurb Vehicle
I have owned 4 Suburban's (one was an early GMC Suburban) and this Denali is by far the best. The stability control system is fantastic, making it a pure pleasure to drive.
Lovin' My Yukon!
I previously owned an 02 Envoy, this is much bigger, took a little longer to get used to. I absolutely love it! As a stay-at-home mom, I don't mind the lower gas milage.
Luxury and Comfort
Just traded 2002 for 2003. More goodies - XM satellite, nav system, dual climate controls, 2nd row buckets (as comfy as front row), aux rear climate controls (now available WITH sunroof). Great ride, excellent performance - not quite as much immediate acceleration from 40 - 50 mph as a 2 wheel drive (due to the AWD). GM should improve the interior in terms of making it look more luxurious. Also should do something to separate it more from the Tahoe. Biggest complaint (and about the only one) is gas mileage - 12/16 is BAD. GM should figure out a way to get the DVD/TV included WITH the sunroof instead of either/or.
2003 is a great improvement inside.
Great SUV, this is my 3rd one over the years and they just keep getting better. 2003 is a very fine year with super interior and performance.
Still love it!
I bought my Yukon in 2004. It is now Jan 2008. I bought it as a primary vehicle. There are many things I like about it. 1) That third row seat is awesome. I can drive 6 people very comfortably. 2) It has great acceleration. One obviously cannot compare it to a two seater sports car but for its size, it is very quick... its a truck! 3) Take out the rear seats and my band can get a drum set, two big PA speakers, 2 half stacks, a bass rig, and amps and guitars and still have the passenger seat open for the girl! 4) One word to describe it is practical. I recently bought a lifted Ford F350 4X4 4 door with all the bells and whistles. Was gonna sell the Yukon. I will be selling the Ford.
