Used 2003 Ford Windstar Consumer Reviews
It is not good choice for a long run
4 and 1/2 yrs old and only 57k miles. I bought it for value. Don't like it for poor quality. Brake makes noises from day one. The 1st issue, the car died immediate after start. The 2nd air-condition. Both are covered under warranty within 3 years. Since then, power steering made noises and the car shakes at cold start some time. I added in a little steering fluid help a little. Yesterday the engine light on for vacuum leak at isolator bolts in intake manifold. It costs over $500 to fix it. It seems more troubles ahead. Now the car lost 2/3 value after 4 yrs. I did my part for maintain (3000 miles oil change, transmission fluid and filter change once. Air filter twice.) Ford not.
Great family Van
Reliable, I have had this van since 2005, Have not had any problems with it. Oil Changes, brakes - that is all. The only reason I am looking for another vehicle is my childern are very tall and they no longer are confortable in the back seat.

Do NOT Depend on Ford
The first 2 yrs were great, no problems (even posted here in 08-2005). However, since early 2006 we have had the interior lights flashing, dealer can not fix and many many compliant logged with no known TSB or fix. (Replaced: light swithc 2x; both sliding doors and rear gate sensors) -- Now the intake manifold must be replaced due to a PLASTIC seal used that melts around 50- 70K miles. *We have 55K now. $100 part and 3 hrs of labor at your dealer of choice @ $120= total $460 before taxes. My dealer stated 4-6 vans a day must have this done, and Ford will not issue a recall as this is not a Safety issue. Just causes the van to suck more gas and fail emmissions.
Quality Van, Quality Dealer
Traded in a 97 Buick LeSabre Limited on this 2003 Windstar. It had been a lease vehicle and is in mint condition. Did a CarFax report, no problems noted, showed regular maintenance. It drives well, is quieter than the Buick, though not quite as comfortable. Fuel economy about 20% less than the Buick @ 18 in town. Has good acceleration, and great braking. So far, quite happy with our purchase. Removed third seat, and wanted to purchased the seat anchor covers. WOW! $26+ each, takes 4. Also, this van has a RECALL for rear seat anchors. It is a free fix by Ford. If you buy used, check the VIN with your dealer. We are in our fifties, kids gone.
New Windstar
As a new Windstar owner, I find this the most comfortable and enjoyable ride of any past minivan that we have owned. The middle and rear seating areas have a large abundance of leg room and the driver area is also very spacious. Being taller than the average person, I am more than satisfied with the purchase of this vehicle.
