It would be nice to have a history of use, but not usually credible. Has ethanol been used in the vehicle? When test driving, get it upd to 60 mph and abruptly let off the gas. If there is any sputter, it's probably time for a coil, or so. I just replaced all 8 and save the 6 that were still functioning, as backup. The car has a short lag that is reminiscent of a Turbo, but when the computer decides what to do, it's off to the races with that Jaguar inspired engine and drive train. If You don't Love your Thunderbird, it will get cranky.....so Love it!

For Style and A Very Smooth Ride

People will ask you about this car whenever you pump gas or are out and about. The ride is super smooth as the car weighs nearly 4000lbs. The 280 hp Lincoln LS engine makes a wonderful roar and the exhaust is tuned to rumble at idle. Turn off the traction control and you can easily burn the tires for a few seconds with a little braking off the line but not without. Expect seven second zero to sixty. The traction control is awesome. The five speed transmission always finds a gear to give you a lot of kick if you go throttle wide open.

Strange issues

The charm and joy of driving is great. The quirks heating (SaunaBird) of the interior when idling is awful, transmission still slams into Drive, clock (third) still runs slow, rattling top, electronic bugs, lack of amenities (like a stripped Lincoln LS), etc. For the price this is a slapped together car. Too bad. Many trips to dealer did not work out the problems. Ford didn't help. Ford made this car an orphan and dropped it at the orphanage. Bill Ford should be ashamed.

I've been a Ford technician for over 30 years. I spent 15 years at a Ford dealership in Champaign Illinois where they continued to Train us during our employment. I learned so much about the Ford brand during my 15 yrs. that I actually became a die hard fan. When I began my employment with Ford I was actually a GM man and would have it no other way. Like I said before working for Ford was eye-opening and I began to love their products. Over the years I've had Ford products that have been pretty good to me. This 2004 Ford Thunderbird has been a great purchase. The previous owner of this particular Thunderbird did a great job of taking care of this vehicle. It has beauty, power and is an eye-catcher. I'm located in Chicago and there is no better feeling than riding Interstate 55 heading downtown with the top down or warm summer day in the Windy City. Two thumbs up for Ford Thunderbird.

Performance with Style

I have driven the Lexus SC430 and the Ford Thunderbird I have purchased has surpassed it in both ride and performance. I shopped around and drove many convertibles but once I got into the Thunderbird it was easy to determine which vehicle I would be buying. Since I have purchased it I have been more pleased in all aspects that you would consider. It is one vehicle that once I brought it home, I haven't been sorry for spending a little more than planned with what I have received.
