Used 2013 Ford Fusion SE 4dr Sedan (2.5L 4cyl 6A) Consumer Reviews
2013 Ford Fusion SE 2.5 L
I will tell you this car drives great and it’s very comfortable and peppy for it to be a 4cylinder. The only thing I will say is the fuel tank is small but it is a little gas sucker unless you driving long distance of 3 hours or more . Also the resale value isnt much but this car will not give you problems at all . If you going buy the Fusion get either the 2.5 or 2.0 four cylinders their the most reliable ones.

Great for looks, not functionality
As soon as I bought the car there was a bad shaking problem at highway speeds, eventually I take it in and after 4 trips to the shop they finally tell me it’s cracked supports on the right side, thankfully covered under warranty. A little after that the USB ports stopped working, that would be 600 dollars to even look at so guess I won’t have those anymore. Then it was the gas cover, now it doesn’t stay closed and doesn’t open on its own I have to use something to wedge it out of the quarter panel, guess I won’t have that either. Radio constantly doesn’t connect to my phone or just drops connection. Now the back seat won’t close and I’m told “Yeah it does that sometimes”. Those issues, coupled with things constantly warping or falling off due to the heat has made this car a nightmare I regret buying.

Silky Smooth!
I purchased this 2013 SE Fusion in February of 2020 with 106k miles as an upgrade from my 2009 SE. I bought this car for the 6-spd manual transmission and technology package, but unfortunately it comes with only the 1.6L engine in the manual configuration, so it is not very high on power. The transmission is very smooth and the clutch is somewhat forgiving. It has the Focus transmission (those have been known to have some issues with syncros), so although it is an extreme rarity in the Fusions, it is made from standard Focus components. I have found it to shift most efficiently around 2600-2800 rpm. The great benefit of the manual is considerably higher mpg than the automatic. I do a good amount of city driving, and I can still get 31 combined mpg! Having the option to cruise at 45 mph in 6th gear on a flat road helps. The touch screen and Bluetooth are nice features and make phone conversations quite easy, especially with the manual. The interior is fairly simple, but the black cloth is very good quality and has not disappointed me. So far, I have had to replace the water pump at 110,000k, but I have had no other serious issues with the car. The lack of power is somewhat noticeable, but the fun of driving stick is the trade-off. There are only a few minor complaints I have about the interior. The absence of tangible buttons to reach for when using the dashboard controls requires you to look down more at what you are trying to touch or adjust. The heat/ac vents are also somewhat limited in where they can be aimed. Heat cannot really be directed downward much before the slats close and cut off the airflow. The left console cupholder is also pretty much unusable if you are driving the manual, unless you can make yourself "LargeCar" shifter with a two-foot throw just so you can hold that extra drink! :) Overall, I am very happy with the car and have confidence in my purchase. Since there are so few of these left to be found, I'm gonna have fun driving her 'til she's dead!
Smooth as Silk!
I bought this car used in February of 2020 with 106,000 miles to replace my older 2009 SE V6. So far, I have had one large repair to replace the water pump at 110,000 miles, but other than that, it has been a great vehicle so far. I bought this car for the 6-spd manual transmission--a package which, unfortunately comes only with the 1.6L Ecoboost engine. It does feel a little lacking in power when starting out, but the freedom of the stick can make it behave like it has a little more power. I do a fair amount of city driving, and with the manual I am still able to get a combined 31 mpg! The one thing I love about this transmission is how smoothly it operates in high gear at fairly low speeds, and you can put it in 6th gear at 45 mph on a flat road. The interior is fairly plain, but the cloth in the lower trim package was better than I would have expected. The touch screen and Bluetooth are nice features, especially with the manual since talking on the phone can otherwise be difficult in traffic. There are just a few minor complaints I have about the interior. The first is that the cars from this year that have the touch screen and technology package do not have any tangible buttons that you can reach for and feel while you are driving. This does require you to always glance down briefly at what you are trying to select or adjust on the dashboard. The heat and ac air vents are also a little lacking in adjustability. The airflow cannot be directed downward much before the slats close enough to cut off the airflow completely. The left cupholder in the console is also pretty much unusable, unless of course you would prefer to have a "Large Car" shifter with two feet of throw like the cool kids just so you can make room for that extra drink! :) Brake repairs are very simple if you prefer to do them yourself, but headlights are a real pain with this model. The opening of the headlight housing cannot be accessed to change your low beams unless you loosen the bumper and pull it forward enough to get the housing out. If you have fairly large hands, then you'll have to pull off the bumper to get at the parking lights, too. Overall, it has been a very reliable car. This particular manual transmission (which is standard for the Focus models) has been known to have synchro issues, but I have not seen any major issues so far.
Wow.
I have never been a big car fan. They have always simply provided transportation. Something however happened when I looked at the Ford Fusion. When I got in it for a test drive, I was amazed by the comfort. When I put my foot on the gas, I was impressed with the performance. The features - that make it fun to drive as well knocked my socks off. Add to this a dealership (Paul Cerame, St Louis) and salesman (Tony L.) who did not mess with me and I couldn't be happier.
