Ford Fusion fizzles out badly

The plug-in option seems somewhat of a gimmick now that I've used it. In the winter, the climate controls use a lot of the plug-in battery capacity, and likely during the summer too. The plug in battery only lasts for about 10 miles because of the heat or a.c.. So it might be most useful in moderate climates where you don't heat or cool your car. The plug-in hybrid has very little trunk space. Careful, the car rides low, so watch the curbs while parking. The windshield constantly fogs over if the temperature is lower than 50 degrees. Ford says that's normal. This is the first vehicle that has ever done this. The lane sensing feature is annoying and it affects the steering. There is pressure on the steering wheel frequently that feels like the steering will lock up. Ford says this is normal. Really? The more I drive this car the less I like it. Resale value drops $17,000 the moment you drive it off the lot proving the car is overpriced. I used to be a loyal Ford owner and have bought a new one every two years on average. Ford dealerships want to charge you for items covered under warranty and lie about known problems with Ford vehicles. UPDATE after 3.5 years and 33,500 miles: somethings are still really annoying, like the constantly fogged windshield and the weird steering. Small parts are beginning to fall off and the charging cord failed after 3 years of use. This is one of those cars that the extended warranty is a necessity. I've bought 2 vehicles since the purchase of this Fusion. I'll never buy a Ford again.

Ford hit a home run on this one.

If you live in town close to everything this car is for you. I purchased it with 26000 miles on it. Mine is a titanium model which is loaded. It amassed me how many bells and whistles it has even self dimming head lights. It has safely package with adaptive speed control and lane assist warning. I use my electric only mode in city and fully charge at home. So far I used zero gas 155 miles on electric only and on hybrid almost 44 mpg. If I keep driving in city no gas. It's ideal for grocery shopping short trips. It's super quite have to remember to shut engine off! My wife is very negative about anything she don't like about a car and after she drove this one said that was a smart move buying this car used for 16,999 same as regular Fusions. It had 26000 miles on it and in perfect shape. My wife likes the noise cancellation makes the engine noise go away. The only negative thing is small trunk but we can use the back seat for big luggage etc. We also have a 2011 Chrysler Town and country limited for back up vehicle. A lot of people talk about Bolt all electric but how can you travel very far with out plug in station. I worry about running out of charge. I know all electric car is cheaper to make no gas motor but still about same price as a ford fusion energi more kick back on Fusion from Federal and State plus Ford knock off 2000.00. The next choice for me would be all electric Tesla model three at 40,000 list plus incentives. Nice car plush and a head turner.

I have owned 20 cars in the last 15 years (Lincolns, Jag, Mercedes, BMW, Mini, Nissans, Volvos, Hondas, Jeep, Fords, Mercury and VW) and have always loved Ford trucks, but strayed away from the cars because of the trade-in/resale value and second place quality compared to American built, foreign rivals. I bought my wife a 2016 Honda Pilot Elite AWD back in March (2016) and it was an AWESOME vehicle but it sat more than she drove it and was impractical for a weekly trip to the grocery store, picking up our son up from school and an occasional trip to the mall. I shopped around and looked at many opportunities to get into a vehicle that would absorb most of the negative equity and found this FFHE which offered a $6000 rebate and a $4007 tax rebate which put me right where I needed to be. I have often thought about Hybrids, but never really considered buying one and man oh man, am I glad that I did! This car is very economical whether driven on battery or gas and I have read the complaints about the lack of distance while driving in the battery mode, but it is disclosed that environment, terrain, driving habits and running accessories WILL alter the estimated battery economy. The lack of storage space sucks, but we went grocery shopping today and managed to make everything fit! The car is smooth, quiet, comfortable and the interior is reminiscent of a high line vehicle! The interface is a little difficult to navigate at first, but a piece of cake to master once you figure it out. From a drained battery, it takes more like 5 hours to fully charge vs. Fords estimated 7 hours. The Ford app is nothing short of AMAZING and addictive and I can't get enough of driving this car! I use to by a Ford Truck kinda guy... Now I'm a Ford Truck and FFHE kinda a guy! I think we have finally found a car that we stick with and I'm already looking forward to specking out our next one!

Review all the plug in gas electric hybrids on the market and which companies make the giant batteries in those cars. Those batteries come in different qualities and make sure to buy the cars with the best low charge deterioration rates. The LG chemical batteries have the least deterioration while the Panasonic / Sanyo have a lesser quality as far as charge deterioration rate. What I mean by deterioration rate is after 1 year, 2 year 3 years ...etc how much of the original charge (when the car was new) can the battery hold. Those batteries are the most important part of the all electric or gas / electric plug in hybrids.

If you are looking for a good ride & handling and great fuel mileage buy a Ford Fusion Energi I went from $200 a month to $0 for fuel. I can pay for the car with the fuel savings. I remember 1973 when the gas companies tucked it to me,now it's my turn, what goes around comes around,I'm loving it.
