Used 2001 Ford Focus SE 4dr Sedan (2.0L 4cyl 5M) Consumer Reviews
SAVE YOURSELF!!!!
Purchased a used Focus in early November 2002. By Thanksgiving, it was in the shop for a belt, plugs and wires. By Christmas it needed a new steering rack. (Can I just say no car with less than 150K miles needs a new STEERING RACK???) I fear what will happen next with this car. Also, the car has ABSOLUTELY NO VALUE once you drive it off the lot -- three long, long months of ownership has devalued the car by nearly $4000. Now I can't even trade the thing away. Gas mileage is nothing special - I expected more from a car this small. Overall, I should have kept my '95 Nissan Pick- up. They have about the same gas mileage, and I would still have 4WD.
Be warned!!!
I was just informed that my focus is corroding from the inside out. Nice huh? The first door went this week, they told me at the dealership they could fix it, but next time (not IF it happens again, but WHEN it happens again) the whole latch assembly will be replaced. The same symptoms have already started on two other doors. This is all besides the O-ring being replaced, the Oxygen sensor dying, and a cylanoid being replaced as well. Anyone want a focus?

RIP 2001 Focus
I bought this car brand new in September 2001. It has been a very dependable car. Replaced the fuel pump once under the recall, had both back window gears replaced. Took great care of it. The engine blew up last week with nearly 144,000 miles on her. Due to depreciation it's not worth putting a new engine in her so I've moved up to a 2007 Focus. The 2001 was a wonderful vehicle: fun to drive and fuel efficient before fuel efficiency was cool. I'm going to miss my blue beastie.
Throw away car
Bad motor problems, Too mini plastic parts on motor. Pullies, stat. housing. radiator. Electrical problems, burned up factory installed wiring harness, alt. went out and you cannot replace it in the drive way, it needs a lift to remove from the bottom. Plastick core support? power window motor went bad. Rear view mirrors will brake off if bumped in any direction. Transponder key broke in half. Upper timing belt cover cracked and making noise. I have spent nearly 2000.00 fixing a car I bought for 3000.00. KEEP away from this car.. Looks good, very bad quality. It will suck you dry 100 bucks at a time.
Somewhat happy
The car itself has been a great reliable auto. I have a problem with the service of the dealer that sold me the car. I'm not please with that.
