Great electric truck
This is a great electric truck, after all it is a F-150. But ford made a lot of the features complicated to get to. Almost everything is on the touch screen. Brought it home and went to charge it and after about an hour I got a charge fault. Since it is still under warranty I can put it in and have it checked.

Ford 150 Lighting
We love all the futures of the truck. it drives very nice and smooth. We love that it has separate controls per driver and that is resets. No more high gas prices. Has the cooling seats and all the safety furthers too.

Ectrification
I like the speed, but i am waiting to see the true range. I am going to charge it to full this weekend. I wish they had a generator kit to put in the truck bed so it could be like a hybred. email me next week.

Stay away! Unless you love tow trucks
I drive 250 kms every business day and add over 40,000 kms a year, and after nearly two years of driving I'm trading in my Ford Lightning Lariat for another EV vehicle as soon as possible (one that isn't a Ford). When the vehicle cannot be started or boosted, it cannot be put into neutral. There are videos online about 3 different methods to put the vehicle into neutral under these circumstances, but they all always fail. This happened to me after a year of ownership, and a second time more recently after just under 2 years of ownership. Once this happens, a capable tow truck driver literally drags the vehicle onto a flat bed. Not a pleasant site for an owner that stretched the budget in order to buy the vehicle in the first place. Many tow truck drivers do not know how to deal with a vehicle that cannot be put into neutral so they leave, and ask you as the owner to arrange for another more specialized and experienced tow truck driver to handle it. All in all I have had to deal with 7 different tow truck drivers, and I have been without my 2022 Lightning Lariat for a total of 13 weeks between the 2 incidences, in less than 2 years. When the vehicle is running, it is as good as the reviews indicate, but when there is an issue, the techs at the dealer network are often not able to identify through diagnostics what the issue is without spending 60-70 hours looking for the problem, and if you experience an issue outside of the bumper to bumper warranty period, Ford makes you responsible for the diagnostics and a great number of the electrical components as well. Take it from someone like me that has actually used the vehicle extensively and for a longer period of time, this vehicle is not reliable nor is it manufactured well. In addition to dealing with 7 different tow trucks over time, I have spent countless hours over the phone trying to receive meaningful updates from dealer service departments and Ford Canada, and in the end I can honestly say 2 things about the Ford Lightning after 2 years of ownership: 1. You will encounter problems with this vehicle. Numerous dealer service departments have told me that the Ford Lightning has become a major problem vehicle for them and it isn't unusual for the techs to spend 60-70 hours diagnosing a problem before it is found (1 short will cause a draw on the 12V battery and once it is dead the vehicle turns into a brick). 2. If you are caught dealing with a issue involving a lengthy diagnostic period outside of warranty, Ford will make you responsible for the issue despite knowing that they have manufactured a vehicle that has major problems related to diagnostics. If you are expecting to save on fuel and maintenance over time, beware, I lost all my savings and more when I was presented with a $6,000 bill for the latest issue. This after only two years of ownership. The Ford dealer and Ford Canada suggested that I should be happy that they agreed to accept the remainder of the bill which totaled $14,000. Apparently, my vehicle was repaired and ready to be picked up 2 weeks prior to when I actually picked it up, because the dealer and Ford were trying to calculate the value of the repair they were willing to accept before making me responsible for the remainder or the charges. The worst part was, the Ford dealer offered me an extremely low trade in allowance value after I expressed an interest in getting another vehicle from the dealer. They cited reliability problems with the Ford Lightning for one of the reasons for the low trade in allowance value.

1 year in and still loving the truck
I have the 2023 extended range xlt and it has been flawless for me for a year. I have a home charger, plus can charge at work. My family regularly takes trips skiing and had zero issues all winter long, even in cold weather. The range does drop when it's cold, and I run winter tires, so was only seeing about 250 miles of range in the winter, instead of 320. When we went camping, I purchased an electric griddle and used the griddle to cook on, and since the griddle only took 1500 W, it meant we could run it for a looooong time and not really see meaningful battery loss (just remember to turn off climate control when using pro-power!) Overall, still very happy with the truck. I highly recommend the extended range, as it enables road trips, and I don't know if I'd have the same experience with the standard range option.

Impressive reliability
Bought this 2022 Lightning as a Dealer Demo in October 2022 with 2600 miles on it. Today, March 2025, it has 23,500 miles and can honestly say truck has been flawless. We get between 1.7 mi/kwh in winter highway driving to 2.2 mi/kwh in Summer highway. City mileage is over 75% better. Took stock tires off & replaced with Mickey Thompson Baja Boss; Which have very deep tread, so getting this mileage is a pleasant surprise based on others' reviews. We are very happy with this purchase & has proven to be as good as our 2013 F-150 we traded in. Also Ford's mobile repair service came to our house and performed the recalls so didn't really inconvenience us at all. They also did our 2020 Ford Expedition as well. We rarely tow & only our boat to the lake ( about 15 miles), so it handles it with ease. Over all love the Truck & will keep at least another 5 years. However don't like the APP and surprised they haven't fixed it by now. Needs a major redesign!

Lemon and terrible economy at highway speed
I have had a terrible experience with my Lightning. It has been in the shop 38 days in the first 6 months of ownership, 20,000 miles. I average 1.7 miles per kilowatt hour and only have 250miles of range if the temperature is below 40degF. It has left me stranded 3 times and Malloy Ford could care less. I already have a wheel bearing starting to wear out. My headlight has been misaligned from day one. I keep asking to have it fixed but they keep resetting the headlight leveling system. Someone was able to unlock my truck with a device while locked in my driveway and stole items. Save your sanity and do not buy an F-150 Lightning
