A member of our family
After 4 1/2 years our family still loves our "Monster Truck". At 45,000 she still looks like new and runs even better. "Anytime, anywhere or anything" is her motto! We keep her 100% Ford including all servicing. Mileage with the V10 has improved over time averaging 11.5 city and 16 highway (light foot). Minor repairs included replacing the suspension bumpers (we do not off-road), turning the front rotors and a new set of Michelin's. Large mirrors and reverse sensors are a must. Living in Miami makes a sport of parking but sitting high above traffic gives you the added security. Our family keeps cars on average 10 years. We'll let you know how she is doing in another 4 1/2 years.
ROAD WARRIOR TRAVELING SALESMAN
I owned 5 Suburbans. In 2001 I had a choice to pay cash for an Excursion or Suburban. The Suburban had less room, smaller motor and was 2,000 dollars higher. I chose the Ford. In 155,000 miles I replaced the tires, fuel pump and filter and brake pads. I will be replacing the shocks and and pads again this week. I drove that truck all over the country averaging 50,000 miles per year. It still runs well and looks nice. It failed me once when at 99,000 miles the fuel pump went out and stranded me in Colorado. Other than that it beat out all the GMCs I ever owned.

Excursion-a fun trip and room to stretch
Although this was a "Big Boat", it was still fun to drive. The power and economy of the 7.3L/TD was just awsome. We felt comfortible, safe, and secure in our "boat", even our Great Dane agreed. On several trips, the unit always performed to expectations and more. There was always enough room for everyone and everything. Even pulling a trailer was a joy. We hardly knew the trailer was there. We would gladly replace our present vehicle with a newer one (2005 being the last of the line), but for the right price. Right now they are still over priced on resale and under priced on trade values.
This is a good truck
I Have a 2001 Limited 4x4 Excursion, and it is hans down the best vehicle I've ever owned. I had a Banks kit installed on the Power Stroke diesel, and it has been pure bliss for over a year now. I reccomend this vehicle to anyone wanting a fuel-effecient truck with towing capacity that rivals commercial trucks. I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS TRUCK!!
Great Family Car
The best all-around-car I ever bought. Roomy, practical and solid. Excellent mileage with the 7.3 ltr. Diesel too. On a recent 2700 mile trip the Excursion averaged 21 mpg and that included plenty of in-town (New York City) driving! As too reliability: At 34800 miles: Zero problems! Easy on maintenance, but each oilchange (5000 miles) takes 15 qts. Shell Rotella T 15W-40 plus filter. About $ 32.- at the local WalMart.
