Lift Gate Dangerous - Beware if you have children

I have a 2018 Titanium that has caused me to acquire a concussion. Ford seems unconcerned. The lift gate opened while I was driving down the street without a warning light and my suitcase fell out in the road. When I was reaching in to push it further back, the lift gate closed on my head and kept going down. It hit me hard enough at just the right angle to cause me to have a concussion. It was determined by Ford that due to the under car electronics for the liftgate, my foot must have crossed path with the sensor causing it to close. They also said it does not go back up until it comes in contact with an object (my head). It does not sense an object and go back up. If the object does not create enough force, it will continue to close. My head did not create enough force. The liftgate continues to close on my family. Ford cannot disconnect the "supposed" added feature. The safety of that feature needs to be considered. Also, the adaptive cruise is dangerous in inclement weather with snow and slush. It disconnected on its own while on the highway propelling me almost into the back of an 18 wheeler.

The Escape is very roomy with sharper lines compared to other models and a sturdy, nice looking vehicle.

I'm very satisfied with my Escape purchase. I haven't owned a Ford product in 20 years. I am impressed with the quality of the vehicle. The 0% for 72 months was a big factor. I always turn the auto start mode off. If it didn't have that option, that would have been a deal breaker for me.
