Used 2018 Ford Escape Consumer Reviews
Needs a new engine!
DoNT BUY IT! We have a 2018 Ford Escape and in less than a year the SUV engine light turn on! We took it to ford and it turns out that it has a crack in the cooling and now it needs a new engine! This happens to this type of SUVs a lot ! Its a manufactured issue and ford is not willing to help or do anything knowing that this is an issue! Unfortunately our warranty ended and now it’s been in a shop for the last 7 months.

Recalled motor
Having the nightmare of dealing with FORD Corp. upon having the recalled motor replaced and the transmission continuing to give us trouble I have permanently left Ford for good after 25 years of being a loyal customer. This was the worst car and experience I have ever owned.

What happened to Ford?
I’ve owned Fords exclusively since 1992. The last two ownerships were because they were Fords, not because of quality. My last vehicle, 2017 Fusion Titanium was THE worse car I’ve ever owned. This one, a 2018 Escape SE, not as bad but just lacking the Ford luster and quality I have enjoyed over the years. Cheaply made with lots of plastic, tinny sounding and feeling, seats that I could endure for an hour at most, and performance below my lawnmower! Traded it to a Jeep Cherokee Latitude - night and day difference, and slightly better fuel economy. I also own a 2007 500 Limited that is a fabulous vehicle. But somewhere after that Ford must have changed their philosophy of car manufacture. And I have changed my buying habits!

Cargo plus, motor minus
I have lugged everything from a new deep freezer to a washing machine to a dryer to moving college kids in and out multiple times... it's been great for that. Around 60 or 80k miles, I kept getting a misfire in cylinder 3. You a tuneup after being told that's what the issue was. Misfire again and mechanic thought it was a faulty spark plug being it was after market. So he changed it to a Ford one. Happened again. He found a Ssevice Bulletin, different from a safety recall because it didn't "present a safety issue" and he suggested I take it to a Ford Dealership and reach out to Ford Motor Co. I would not advise buying a 2018 Ford Escape based on this. The total cost was about $4k. It may or may not happen to yours but why take the risk? You've been warned.
