Good compromise vehicle. Decent handling, ride, and mileage. Has been reliable and trouble free so far. Four years later it is still doing the job. Only things replaced are the tires and battery

I love this car and the color blue! For a 4 cyl it has great pickup speed for acceleration. Worth the $384 monthly pymt.

Flawed engine design caused engine to blow

Coolant leak caused the cylinder head to crack due to the flaw in the engine design. Ford released a customer satisfaction program for this specific issue but it only covers the first 80k miles . Stay away from eco boost it’s the worst engine out there.

I was in a 2016 Ford Transit Connect XLT LWB and saw that it had two recalls. The first was fixed easily but the second dealt with door latches falling off so I went back to my dealer and jumped into the 2018 Escape. With it's nearly identical interior and controls I was immediatly impressed. Decent pickup but to be honest the top end isnt there on the highway compared to my previous van. Storage space is decent but not accomodating. Great having roof rack now considering smaller interior. The one big question is why would they install the ignition kill switch? They say it saves gas but I see this as causing way more issues down the line with timing and performance. So each time I get in and start car, I shut that off. Sadly too is the sound system. Same company yet lousy audio in the escape compared to the earlier transit. All in all, its sporty, gets no better mileage than van and is a decent ride. If I had to do it all over again I would pass. Transit Connect is a far better vehicle.

Mediocre Car

Almost everything about this car is average. In fact, everything is average, except for the performance, which is below average, and the comfort, which surprisingly, is above average. Everything else, however, is what you'd expect for a mid-size crossover. Apple Car play, Android Auto, "premium leather" seats, "genuine" metal and chrome materials, etc. I can go on forever. In reality, it's the perfect car for Barbie. Why? Because basically everything inside the bloody car is made of plastic. The ride is mediocre, too. And, as we all know, most people, especially elderly people, don't want to ride around in pain because their car has a mediocre ride. Which is why most people may go for the luxury equivalent. Perhaps the new Lincoln Nautilus, or the 2018 MKC. So, if you're thinking of purchasing one of these average cars, perhaps you should reconsider.
