Used 2018 Ford Escape Consumer Reviews
Worst cat I’ve ever owned
I have 30,600 miles on the car and have been getting unexplained “Engine Fault-Service Now!” Warnings that the dealer could not diagnose so could not fix. Has been in and out of the shop three times for the same issue in the last three months. Suddenly lost acceleration on the freeway while on a holiday weekend road trip and was afraid I’d be stranded in a rural area with everything closed. Dashboard display, backup camera and sound system have gone dead with no rhyme or reason and then mysteriously started working again. Transmission sometimes shifts very hard with a clunking sound when shifting from park to reverse in my garage (summertime). You CANNOT put any chains or cables on this car, (18-inch wheels), you have to buy an iffy alternative traction device to comply with the Highway Patrol law that requires traction devices be carried in the car. No tie down hook under the front bumper for my kayak like my Subaru used to have. No matter what I use on it, the front windshield streaks badly in rain and at night these streaks combined with glare from oncoming headlights render me temporarily unable to see. Auto dimming headlights only work on straight highways, useless on hilly or curvy terrain. Will never buy another Ford.

So Many Dealer Visits
Have had the 1.5 SE Escape since May 2018. In that time it’s been to three different dealers for different issues. Three visits for losing coolant, two visits for my radio not working and two visits for my hvac changing temperature and modes on its own. I have called ford corporate so many times and have gotten some money back for my troubles but it isn’t worth it. The mpg is poor and I can barely break 23 in mixed driving. My auto start stop whirs sometimes. Would never recommend a Ford to anyone.

Finding the perfect car
I recently purchased a 2018 Ford Escape Titanium from Van Drunen Ford in Homewood, Illinois. With the help of my salesman, Tom Schultz, I was able to get the color I wanted which also had all the options I was looking for. I love it. It is a very comfortable vehicle. It does have all the bells and whistles and it will be fun learning how to utilize them. We have purchased vehicles from this dealership in the past and found everyone there to be friendly and helpful whether it be in sales or the service department. Undoubtedly I would highly recommend them to our family and friends.
