Used 2016 Ford Escape Consumer Reviews
Never Again
We have been a Ford Family since 1965. We have a 2016 Ford Escape Titanium. Early Summer 2023 we lost use of air conditioner. $4,500 to repair. We will wait until we can save, and just roll down the windows. End of Summer 2023 we lost the transmission. It would cost $8,500 to repair. We as a family cannot afford to spend $13,000 (approximately) on a car that's worth about 10K. We only had 80,000 miles on the vehicle, we were hoping for at least 100K. Never Again.

DO RESEARCH ON ENGINE PROBLEMS
I bought a used 2016 ford escape that seemed to be in impeccable condition. After having 2 mechanics look at it I have learned that engines in ford escapes have a tendency to leak coolant into the engine which results in an engine replacement that could cost 6k-9k with labour. This is a very common issue with ford escapes and despite all the customer complaints and negative ratings ford refuses to do a recall. FORD should RECALL these engines to keep customers coming back, this is NOT FAIR to customers who thought ford was a reliable make of vehicle. Disappointed to say the least. Do your research, don't gamble on a purchase unless you're willing to spend an added $10,000 for replacements after waiting MONTHS for parts to arrive.

After 6.5 years has been trouble free
My wife was looking for a new vehicle. She has been content with owning used vehicles most of our 42 years of marriage. The last new car she bought was a 1992 model. She wanted something inexpensive and I put $9k down on her new 2016 Escape S model. I did not read any reviews on it before we bought it. We had owned 3 older Escapes previously and they served their purpose and were mostly trouble free. I have been amazed at how ell this Escape has held up. I have always serviced and repaired our vehicles. The only thing I have done in 6.5 years was replace the battery and perform routine maintenance. I like that is has the normally asperated 2.5 thus no turbo concerns. MPG has been satisfactory. She has used it for multiple 4 hour road trips as well as one 12 hour trip to Florida. At 44k miles I could not be happier. In comparison I bought a new 2016 Tacoma and it was in the shop for warranty repairs multiple times during the first 6 months. After 5.5 years I happily sold the Tacoma with 25k miles. So, in my opinion, the 2016 Escape has been a better vehicle than the 2016 Toyota Tacoma. Never thought I would say that but it is true. I now have an older Tacoma. Based on her Escape I bought myself a 2013 SEL AWD with the 2.0 ecoboost and have really enjoyed that one, with 67k miles, and it has had zero issues.

Watch your back
Twice now i have had the cargo door close on top of me when putting groceries in the back. I have the tow package and we used it once. We have a cargo box for camping. Noticed when we got back my shocks were bad.
