Lemon
I tried not to give this car a single star, but I couldn't but it's still zero stars to me. I thought I was buying a solid, used vehicle, but I was wrong. No matter what anyone says, this car has issues, and the engine is one of them. Furthermore, their fuel entry door system is not protected from potential harm by a person who may be sick enough to try and ruin your car, so that feature is not good at all. Don't buy this car. It also has transmission issues, and the electronic messaging is crazy in it. My extended warranty ended in Jan, and by July, the engine broke, badly, and I was only at 116K miles, and I took excellent care of this car. Ask any good mechanic and they have stories about this model and year. I shopped at Koons of Westminster, and felt a bit pressured to buy the car, but wanted to believe my salesperson was about helping me make a good choice but he wasn't, he was all about his commission, and I will never buy there again. Don't buy a Ford car, and whatever you do, make sure you have an extended warranty or else you wind up with a giant doorstop with wheels. Shame on you Ford, and shame on you Koons, you sold me a lemon!

Shocked & Forgotten
While I was visiting someone, all of a sudden they saw my car was on fire in their driveway. Long story short, nobody figured out why it caught fire. Both front seats & consol burned up. Insurance refused to pay for manufacturing problem. Local dealer I used exclusively couldn't get rid of me fast enough. Absolutely the most horrible dealer I've ever met in my 50 years of purchasing cars. Ford corporate is meticulously set up to deny and get rid of claims and refused to even look into it. Had I known they don't stand behind their cars, I would never have given them my business. If I was on the highway when this happened, they would be paying out a hell of a lot more! I have been warning every single Escape owner I see. Some say they'll get rid of it and will never buy a Ford again. Otherwise the car is lovely, I just wish I could go somewhere. I'm. I'm scared to death to drive it.

2015 and 2016 escapes are prone to head problems
From what I have seen and my own 2015 with a 1.6L engine, all 3 of their engine choices prematurely give way and leak coolant into the motor. My own has 80K on it but have heard of them going as low as 36K and still under warranty. My advice, steer clear of them. Right now, I am looking at anywhere from $6000-$10000 for a 5 year old vehicle by the time the repair is made. was told that glycol going through the turbo will destroy that also and will need replacing also.

Transmission problem
I bought my escape late Sept. 2019, didnt have it not even 24 hours transmission went out, well the dealership installs another one, that had 44,000 miles on it "used", it had 119,000 miles on it of course some stuff goes bad, but, doesn't a dealership suppose to install a new one, 40,000 miles later started having trouble with it again, was told I had a 2 year contract on it, so go to get it checked I get told it's over warranty by the mileage, what's a person suppose to do now, pay an arm and leg for a new one, read a lot on here about them going bad around 66,000 miles that only gives me 22,000 miles... I got a lemon!!! Overall, I do love my escape, they should have put a new one in it..
