CrackedWarped Head—Entire Engine Needs Replacing

Would advise against the Ford Escape, including the 2014. Constant coolant, engine, overheating, computer issues. Has multiple recalls on its cylinder head and engine. The dealer recommends scrapping our car; the full engine replacement is $10k.

Traded up to Titanium 2.0

I purchased a 2013 Escape SE 4wd w/ the 1.6L engine and loved the vehicle. I wished I had gone with more features, so I traded it on a 2014 Escape Titanium 4wd with the 2.0L engine and all the goodies. I love this vehicle! I've owned a lot of cars, from most all manufacturers, including high-end cars, and this new Titanium is my favorite all-around vehicle. I get very good gas mileage, it's very comfortable, and the NVH, fit and finish are on par with the luxury brands. Sync w/ MyFordTouch is terrific, and intuitive. I can also use the manual controls easily if I don't want to use the voice or touch controls. Ford has really done a great job with their new vehicles.

Bought the 2.0L Titanium with AWD in November. Really like the car -- the technology system was pretty easy to master. Really like the handsfree phone. But am sorely disappointed with the mileage -- 14 MPG with mixed city and highway driving. Dealer said wait till we hit 5000 miles but at 4500 miles have seen no improvement. Will not keep the car long at this rate. Am already looking to get rid of it.

I must say I agree with all the "Fun & Marvel of Ingenuity" platform, that has been touted as the takeover vehicle of the the Crossover SUV Market that Ford has presumably taken (some have said). But the beauty is all on the surface, as sorry as must say, the basis of small engines is Fuel Economy over performance, and they have got things a bit backwards. Love the performance, but missing my promised MPG by a longshot.

I have only had this car for 1 week. So far, I'm loving it. I bought my car at Sarasota Ford. Steve Oliver was the Sales Associate. He was great in every way. Help me make a decision between two cars. Was happy for his assistance.
