Used 2014 Ford Escape SE 4dr SUV AWD (1.6L 4cyl Turbo 6A) Consumer Reviews
Still young with under 400 miles on the vehicle
With me medically retiring from the military and getting a service dog, it was time to retire our Suzuki SX4 for something bigger, and with us moving to Maine it had to have AWD. We had looked at Subaru's but the Ford dealer was able to give us a substantial discount to make this less than a Subaru, so we bit. Wonderful little SUV, love the way that the AWD starts out in AWD and shifts to FWD as you are cruising. Fuel econ has been great, and the kids are comfortable in the rear, with the dog in the back it fit's us perfectly. Going to have to do a few trips to get her to 1k miles before we move to tow a trailer, but that should not be an issue with how nice she drives. Will do an update.
Don't buy a Ford.
Steering wheel is offset to the right just enough to not be inline with the dash gauges. They lied about the MPG. You can figure on the tradin-value to lose at the rate of $10k per year for the first two. Horrible wind noise, you can't roll the windows down at 55mph and keep your hearing. Rough ride. They just discontinued the Vehicle Health Check feature they suddenly call “Complementary”.

Never Buying Escape Again
Bought this vehicle for my wife from Carmax. Certified pre owned with 54,000 miles. The passenger rear speaker has never worked even after talking it back to the dealer for repairs. Around 80,000 miles I had to replace the transmission and as soon as we took it to the shop the mechanic knew what it was because it is so common with this car. Even after replacement we are still having issues with transmission. Shifting from first to second is terrible. Warning lights come on all the time. We continually get letters in the mail regarding recals. The entire cooling system was recalled and we had to get it replaced for over heating issues. The climate control is terrible as well. I bout my wife a heated blanket for her ride to work during the winter because the air would not get hot. 90% of the miles are highway miles and I take of my cars so we should get well over 100,000 miles with minimal issues. I can’t believe ford’s lack of quality control with this. They must put all of their resources into the F-150 production because the Escape is lacking in every catagory. If you want a reliable ford suv I would recommend the explorer or above.

Amazing rental car; great for fleets
Me and my 7 best friends rented a 2014 Ford Escape SEL 4Dr 1.6L 4cyl Turbo 6A in Denver, Colorado. Upon driving out of the rental agency, we were surprised at how much we loved the car. The interior was super super comfortable with plenty of storage and it was perfect for road trips. The electronics were great and the GPS was super helpful. The trunk fit all of our ski equipment which was a lot. Perfect car, I would totally want to own one

So sorry I bought this car
I loved this car when I bought it. We drove it on a 6,000 trip and it was very comfortable. Then it started having problems. The back wheel bearing, $500. The back up camera was suddenly upside down. No one knew what to do about it except replace it ($600 for camera + labor). The front wheel bearing, $500. Then at 128,000 miles, the transmission went and Ford wanted $7,000!!! Tried other local repair places; no one would touch it. Ford made a fun car with lots of nice features inside, but cheapened the mechanics. When I traded it in as is, I got $1,500 for it, after paying $14,000 2 years before. I lost my shirt. There was a recall 2 weeks later on the backup camera. There should be a recall on the tranny.
